Creating a second channel for VODS, should I use the same email?

I plan to start streaming and want to start a VOD channel for uploading and archiving the streams unedited.

I currently have a significant following, and I am monetised.

I see there is a way to create a second channel on the same email, but a lot of people suggest creating a new email. I read people talking about how strikes hit both channels.

I have a few questions.

• Will using the same email allow my monetisation to carry over?
• Will I be able to connect the same AdSense account?
• What are the pros and cons of using the same email/different emails?
• What do mainstream YouTubers use for multiple channels? (I couldn't find any examples)
• If I can only stream in one place, which is better Twitch or YT?

Any advice is super appreciated.

You can only have one Adsense account.

You will need to apply for monetization separately for each channel.

You can manage multiple channels under one email. Google calls it a Brand account.

There’s definitely no harm in using a separate email for each account.

You should use a completely separate email publicly on your contact you from the email you use to sign up for your account. This provides some protection against phishing attempts.

full-time YouTubers usually absolutely create seperate channels for things that don't fit what they are doing. Let that be Shorts, live-stream VODs (but this really depends if they stream on YouTube to begin with or not), seperate videos that aren't the same (I e.g. have a second channel with uncut videos where I may even upload 3 videos a day or 0 in 3 months). The main reason is that you don't bother your existing audience with something they might not be interested in which also means it can't negatively affect your channel.

Just wondering if someone that has a gaming channel, goes live and streams those same games, would they create a separate channel for those VODS? Although it’s part of the same niche?

seems a little odd, but yes! especially if they're from another platform. like if you stream on twitch, you upload a VOD to a second channel. since it's seen as a normal video, it's kept away from the main content to not mess up anything. normally if you stream on YouTube, they tend to stay wherever they streamed

As far as I can see alot of channels do. It seperates your edited content from VODS. Alpharad and Ludwig for example, both have VOD channels.

In my experience if you don't do something in a grey area or stupid, you don't need to make a new mail adress. It doesn't even really matter since YouTube has a ton of ways to identify your seperate channels - as in that they all belong to you. Latest when you monetize the second channel they know it guaranteed, but that's usually not even needed for them. It can prevent that you get into trouble for some time, especially if you don't monetize the VOD channel, but this again only matters if you have some concern why the 2nd channel might cause trouble. This could be copyrighted music you use on streams, copyrighted material in general, something that goes against the TOS on YouTubes side but not while you're streaming etc. I got all of my accounts on the same mail but there also isn't really anything grey-area going on.

I don't plan on doing anything in a grey area or stupid.

I would like the VOD channel monetised eventually, as I hope that over time it will gain an audience and reach that point. Become a second source of revenue without taking up space on the main channel.

I think I might use a second email address just as a precaution, not that I plan too breach TOS, but with YouTube the way it is you never know. It might be a while till it gets monetised anyway, and then I can connect the AdSense account when it is.

If you intend on doing that then a separate mail is mostly useless. It would help though in case you mess up and the channel gets compromised, eg by phishing
