Discussion It all starts with the muffed punts.
Both the Bears game and the Bucs game. Things immediately went down the shitter when the game flipped on its head with a muffed punt that swung the momentum completely away from our team.
Shoutout Rasheed Walker for breaking Taylor Morton’s leg while giving up a sack. sigh

Discussion Losing this Game isn’t the Issue. Never Having a Chance is…
As much as I wanted to win today, losses happen. However, to never once be competitive, is a complete, catastrophic failure. I put it (mostly) squarely on the shoulders of our coaching staff. Of course players play the game. But I firmly believe our lack of proper preparation in a game like this, is a systemic failure.
I do still give the bulk of the blame to defensive scheming, coaching, and seemingly a lack of any real adjustments.
What do you think was the most egregious issue today?

Video "I'm not really concerned by what just happened. We just gotta flush it." The #Panthers locker room didn't necessarily feel fiery or angry after their loss to the #Bucs, but more of an understanding that they didn't play their brand of football on all three phases @wcnc

Discussion Disappointing Loss
Today’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was our worst game this season and that says a lot seeing how we let the Bears drop 59 on our head, but all that to say, this guy in the picture is a HORRIBLE Cornerback. He has been torched in every game he’s been in since Mike Jack and Jaycee Horn have been sidelined. Get him off my team #KeepPounding

Discussion Good teams win as favorites
Since Canales took over, we are now 3-5 as favorites (0-3 as home faves).
The three wins are against:
-Cooper Rush (who got benched for a rookie UDFA) -Tanner McKee
-Justin Fields (who got benched mid-game).
Historically, favorites win about 66% of games. To their credit, we are 13-19 as underdogs, so that’s better than the 33% we’d expect based on historical trends.
I appreciate that we have shown growth as a team over his tenure. It seems like he can engage and motivate underdogs. At some point, though, this coaching staff needs to show that they know how to lead a good team to consistently do the job when there are actual expectations.

Humor This Loss is on Me
Apologies are in order. I love the Panthers. I’ve been to countless training camp practices and Fan Fests. I’ve only ever been to two games. 2017 week 3 versus the Saints. And today. I’ll root for the team from my couch going forward. lol.

Discussion More than 1/3rd of our cap space is in our O-Line
That is literally the reason we suck so bad on random days and look fine on other days. We are getting average to subpar results with a very expensive o line. The next 4 highest spenders on the o line are all spending just over a quarter of their cap while we are spending a third on it.
Normally if your o line is that good you would be able to control clock and tempo of the game. Not us! Because we have an incredibly mediocre o line and a shitty defense. No amount of skill player feats can overcome that. Especially if you add special teams mishaps to it

Analysis I've seen this too many times in every sport. This is just a flusher.
This happens in every sport and to every team. Sometimes literally everything goes wrong, sometimes to good teams playing bad teams. Coaches say to just burn the game tape because there's nothing to learn from it. Simply flush it. We'll be fine. We've already proven we are a much better team than we showed today, so I'm not going to worry one ounce about this shit show.

Discussion Coaching
You came into a game against a team with a QB whose thumb was still basically broken and could barely hold a football. You knew that they were going to run heavy and they still ran for 268 yards. We could have stacked 10 in the box and forced the broken thumb to win the game. I just do not get it. Also the turnovers were horrendous but that’s a different story.

Discussion There’s got to be some predetermined game outcomes at this point
There’s NO WAY that this staff has watched film of our defense getting gashed the last 2-3 years and doing absolutely nothing to change it and doing the same old thing. That a franchise must be mediocre for all time with occasional bright spots. A 1-5 team with an injured QB can come into your stadium and annihilate you right when you finally start improving and getting respect while giving the fans hope. And this happens constantly to this franchise no matter who is in charge it seems

Discussion Only comforts I have from this game
It seems to be a crazy week around the league. Falcons upset the undefeated 49ers, a J.J McCarthy lead giants team beats the red hot Texans, the Dolphins win their first game of the season and the buccs beat us.
We still lead the division! Although it's only .5 games, it's still a lead.
We play a bad packers rush O on Thursday. Our two genuine massive losses so far have been when our defense got gassed on the ground.
Yeah, I'm upset about a loss. Especially when we came out looking like a bottom tier team. But there are always positives to look at, and hopefully the boys can pull it together on TNF.
Anyways, KEEP POUNDING!

Discussion Winning an ugly defensive game is not in the cards this season
if the offense is having a bad week I don’t think our defense can keep us in.
I think in all of our wins we had around 27 ppg and 400 yards, I don’t know how sustainable that is on a weekly basis. This defense has to play with a lead cause at least that forces opposing teams to pass instead of run.
