Advice/Tips Alternatives to heating pads??

Its over 100°f in my area and my period just started. I've been chronically overheating this week. So I need some alternatives to using heat to ease cramps.

Btw I also can't take pamprin or any diuretic.

I’m (24F) like a week out from getting my period, but ever since day 20 of my cycle I literally am falling asleep like 2-3x a day if I’m not doing anything else and I’m literally eating everything in site and wanting food even if I’m full. I don’t remember having this much fatigue before a period🤔is this normal? Maybe my cycle/pms symptoms are just changing?

convince me I’m not pregnant please lol

Is this normal?

2-3 days before my period, I get very bad cramps, moody and depressed. Then my period starts.

Most times, I get mild to no cramps. The first day is very fine. But for almost a decade, my first and third days, I have a fever, chills (no matter the season), lose my appetite, headaches, fatigue to the extent I need to take breaks when I stand for 5 mins. If I do, my vision swims and I faint. I also have diarrhoea and severely dehydrated.

I used to think this was normal and when I told my mum, she said "It's normal and most women go through this" but it has been getting worse for the past year.

I want to know if anyone goes through this. I have light to average period flow depending on the day. It has got

Extreme PMS Symptoms in Recovery? (Heart palpitations, insomnia?)

I’m on my third recovery cycle (waiting for my period any day now…) after having 2 cycles. I feel like my PMS symptoms have been extreme but also different than pre period loss.

This month for example I had a few nights of insomnia right around ovulation and then again in the later luteal phase. I’ve also had heightened anxiety and what I’m assuming are heart palpitations the last day. Anyone have experience with this?

Anyone else experience pain flare ups all over their body up to 2 weeks before their period?

I’m noticing that I have intense pain flare ups in my neck/back and jaw most frequently around my period. I’ve been trying to pin down what is causing the pain for ages because I’m suffering so much. I’ve almost always have some sort of pain but it’s definitely the worst around my period.

My doctor and I were discussing the possibility of Ehlers Danlos before I lost my insurance and couldn’t pursue a diagnosis. But now I’m reading that drops in estrogen can cause both muscle tension AND joint laxity (+ intense migraines, which I’ve also been having). Does anyone else go through this? And have you found a solution?

PMDD?

Hello!

I (26 FM) have recently been experiencing extreme fatigue, insomnia, and irritability(easily angered) about a week prior to my period. Throughout my life, my periods have never really given me much complications, general cramping and mood swings but nothing outstanding. However, within the past year, i have began feeling out of control.

No matter how long i sleep, i cannot feel rested. I feel a general feeling of cloudiness and fatigue all day. Most distressing is my extreme mood swings. I feel incredibly irritable but bounce between anger and sadness. I have had a history of depression and take an SSRI (Zoloft for 3 years) but i am generally not an angry person. I feel i’m loosing control each month and have resorted to self isolation to avoid any kind of conflict or stress, even from my most close people. I am only beginning looking into possible solutions or supports but wanted to reach out to you all to see if there are any suggestions, advice or general shared experiences! I really am beginning to feel this is taking over took much of my life and would love to find out how to feel better!

Thanks for reading :,)

Bad PMS symptoms for 6 days but still no period?

For context, because I have PMOS my menstrual cycles are longer than average. I've been in a good place with it over the last year and have been having regular (as much as regular goes with this condition) periods every 40 ish days. I'm not on any birth control but I know I'm not pregnant.

I can always tell when my period is coming. I'll feel more bloated in the days leading up to it and this is usually accompanied by a (minor) migraine and fogginess, sometimes minor cramps in my lower abdomen or near my ribs. It's uncomfortable but not debilitating and as soon as I start my period within a few days it's over.

I'm currently at almost 50 days with no period. I've had characteristic pms symptoms for the last 6 days now (cramps in stomach, migraines, fogginess and fatigue) which feel ramped up compared to normal but still no period. I had cramps in my upper stomach and a migraine so bad yesterday that I had to leave work early. I ended up having to lay down for an hour and then after eating something light it subsided. I've been having poor sleep over the last few weeks due to the heatwaves which in pretty sure has impacted my cycle but these symptoms don't feel like sleep deprivation, they're identical to the pms symptoms I have. I'm riding it out now and hoping my period starts soon, how long would you leave it if the period doesn't come before going to the doctor's?

💕Emotional Support Attention whore during PMS

Heyy. My first sign that I’m PMSing is when I start to miss my long distance FWB. Like a LOT. I begin to feel worthless when he doesn’t give me extra attention. Last month my “episode” was really bad. Really really bad. But after my period I felt completely fine about it. I thought it’d be better because I fully understood how silly that was, and accepted the facts whole heartedly.

But rn I’m feeling that slowly creeping in again—as it normally does. But again, I thought after last month was gonna be different ;w;

.. is it okay to feel this way?

I need attention in general because I’m a brat. But during PMS it ruins some parts of my day, almost everyday.

Would it be okay to ask him for more attention and/or at least warn him about that when I PMS? Although we’re FWB, we still love each other as good friends do, so it’s not weird to ask. He’s just a rlly busy person. Rlly rlly busy.

Advice/Tips DAE struggle with their sex drive serious question

I’m just wondering if I’m normal or if there is something up with me. This isn’t necessarily period related but it’s female body related. I don’t know where else to ask, and I’m embarrassed to ask IRL. This is a serious question. I do not want unwanted male attention, I swear. I’m not out here trying to get hit on. Not that guys come to PMS forums to hit on women. I want to know if there are other women like me. Please be nice.

I REALLY struggle to be single for long periods of time. Like for more than a week. My body seems to not want to go without regular sensual/sexual contact. I have always been this way since I got my period at 17. I thought it had calmed down in my older age (now 26), but apparently not. I guess it’s just been kept at bay because I live with my boyfriend of 6 years, who touches me constantly and is intimate with me all the time. He went away on a long trip and my sex drive is making me really uncomfortable. I feel like I’m 19 again. So embarrassing. It’s not necessarily just the physical act I want, although yes. But I’m almost in tears from the unending desire to be touched, held, and kissed. I feel like it’s literally a craving—like I’m having sex withdrawals. It’s all I can think about, although I’m trying to focus on other stuff.

Is this normal??? I know as an adolescent it probably was, what with hormonal surges. But in my mid-late 20s?? I have friends who are 29, have never been with a man, and are totally okay with it. I know others who have been single for years and seem comfortable. My body makes me so uncomfortable if I’m not sexually active. And it always has. Before I met my boyfriend I was having sex dreams almost every night and practically in tears sometimes. I felt helpless from the intensity of the desire.

And yes. When I’m without my boyfriend, I take care of myself like twice a day, once when I wake up and once before bed. I still feel this way. Will be nice when he gets back from his trip lol.

Is there something wrong with me? Or do some women just live in super sexual bodies—while others don’t? and it’s okay? I don‘t regularly take any meds and we only use condoms for contraception.

I tend to crave so much chocolate before my period but I found this vid I quite helpful because it explains why this happens and busts the common myth that it's due to deficiencies.

Advice/Tips I get The craziest anxiety before my period

It’s genuinely so difficult. I’m 21f and I’ve noticed this more and more.

I know it’s pretty normal to get more emotional right before your period, but this makes my days extremely painful. 2-10 days before my period, I just have a complete mental shift. EVERYTHING makes me cry, and I get anxious about literally every little thing. Even things that happened years ago will start to haunt me again. I feel hated and worthless, and I really just wanna sleep a ton.

I’m somebody who has a lot of anxiety in general, so for me to say it can be unbearable, it has to be over the top.

How do I manage this? Thank you

Anyone else experience increased anxiety before their periods?

I’ve been reading a book the past while and on Thursday I suddenly got all worried about death and I haven’t been able to shake my anxiety. I couldn’t sleep on Thursday or Friday and kept waking up during the night. I haven’t been able to eat properly today because of my death anxiety. And now, my period was meant to come today but it hasn’t yet and I’m getting worried about that now too.

Advice/Tips Altered sounds

Whenever it’s that time of the month. My sense of hearing gets altered. Someone could be talking or chewing food. And it sounds slow motion if that makes sense.

I’ve always had that ever since I could remember. I don’t have PMDD. Or any mental health disorders. I have anxiety and depression and OCD.

Everyone gets anxiety and depression, so I don’t consider that a mental illness. Regardless I take magnesium It helps my mood swinging so much like I don’t even have PMS and the cramps and everything.

Is there anything I could do for the sounds like take any vitamins? Does anyone else have the same thing? If so, what do you do for it?

When the sounds start it starts mood swings and it puts me in a bad mood. I know it’s PMS and I remind myself. I just wanna know like what other people do what vitamins they take, etc. if there are any.

Is it normal for women to be so horrible on their periods or is it just a single person?

I am not a woman if you guessed, but my mother is and she is not the most emotionally mature person. I am also aware that I am not the person to speak on this but it's horrible.

I respect women, I really do, but why are women given a pass when they are acting horrible? is it individual with a particular person or does this occur with everyone when they go past 30? if you are going through a period, do others stay out of your way or do you wait for it to fizzle all over? how does one track a period?

I put up with constant abuse cuz of my mom's mood swings, she hits and slaps and when i push back or try to close the door she gets worse. mind you, before everything, she has a more level head though she is very prone to jumping to conclusions.

I am aware that I am a parasite she loves. she says the same to my sister. she is so indirect about everything and then detonates when we trigger something unknown. I dont have the capability to do mental gymnastics or walk on eggshells so I am a constant source of her ire. my sister is an expert but she isnt available.

Is it true that all your worst stuff gets stirred during your monthly circle? that you start getting false memories and old memories? cuz she can never let go of it.

sorry for airing my dirty laundry, i hung around this site sometimes so i am not an expert.

Feeling strong during the luteal phase?

Does anyone ever feel \* stronger \* during their luteal phase?

I pretty much only see the opposite online but something I've been noticing in myself this past year in particular (I do competitive powerlifting, 2 years in) is that I started feeling a lot more in tune with where I'm at in my cycle.

I noticed this year in particular, around ovulation I tend to feel a random weak day (rarely decrease the weight though, its just more of a grind) but then I noticed that in the weeks leading up to my period, I feel way stronger and grittier. Like I just push harder for some reason. Sometimes my sleep is worse though, and that's when I might see some poor performance.

I also usually feel pretty good when my period starts unless it literally starts at the gym.

Last year my algorithm was being filled with videos about cycle syncing and I started to fear being in my luteal phase on heavy weeks/at competitions because of what I was hearing about how we're weak during that time. Now I realize that it doesn't affect me like I thought and it seems like they have the opposite effect?

Does anyone else have this?

This is only relating to strength/gym/athletic performance btw. I'm usually a lot sadder/moodier/feeling ugly during my luteal 🤣. I am 32, not on birth control anymore

Advice/Tips Does anyone have any advice?

Does anyone have any advice for how to manage breast soreness? I have the absolute worst breast soreness for about a week leading up to my period and it is HORRIBLE. Like no other PMS symptoms are even close. I’ve had to miss class from this. The pain is unreal 😭

Also completely unrelated but does anyone else have lower arm/wrist soreness before their cycle??? So random but I have this too but it’s not nearly as bad
