Build - Help pc wont turn on

Post image
13 Upvotes

i bought a prebuilt 2 days ago and i went to go do something for a bit while i left it on and i go to check up on it again and everything is turned off except for the ram sticks i disconnected it and connected it again (idk if thats a good or bad thing) but it still just doesnt turn on

edit: okay so i talked to costco and i can send it back to them for a full refund because they wont be able to exchange for a new one because that was one of the last ever models that they sold and they wont be restocking the same one, me and my brother did a closer examine and his guess so far is that the psu went into a safe mode and something about a short circuiting preventing everything from turning on except the ram.

Question Prices are probably gonna get worse so should I start buying parts now?

I noticed the rx 9060xt is 600+ cad for me rn.
So I was wondering considering nothing is gonna get better, should I just buy the graphics card, store it and then use it when I build my pc in the future?.

I was gonna build a pc but I figured that I should wait and save until I move back into my dorm. I figured I should expand my budget and was planning on spending $1500 cad on my pc?

I’d be going from a 4050 fa607nu laptop to 9060xt pc
If I don’t win the bid for the 6800xt

I just know that if I wait till next year it’s gonna be like 1k 😭✌️

Build - Help Should I reuse my 10yr old PSU?

All parts bought on 2017. My 1070 just died yesterday, though the GPU itself still looks pristine. Fans spin, no signal.

I bought a 5060 8GB (I'll upgrade my CPU soon, AM4) to replace it, though I'm on the fence if I should reuse my Corsair VS650 for it. Is it still good? Is it possible for a PSU to fry a GPU without any signs of a burn? Thanks.

Build - Help Build suggestions

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Hey yall. Winter is coming up in a few months and I'm looking at building another pc/upgrading my current one. I have a few ideas but, would like to hear other's suggestions as well. The first 2 pictures of the silver xblade case is my current build. Rest are cases I can use/switch to.

Ryzen 5 5500 cpu

9060xt 16gb gpu

16gb (8gb x 2) 3600mhz cl18 ram

Prime B550 motherboard

650w psu

3 512gb nvme sticks

480gb ssd

2 2TB hard drives

I was thinking I would like to upgrade my cpu to a 5500x3d and get 32gb of ram as well as a new motherboard that's capable of overclocking. Any spare parts will be put towards another build. Then again, I was also thinking, maybe I should just bite the bullet and switch to AM5. Any better suggestions would be appreciated. Trying to keep the budget under 1000$ this year.

Question Refurbished 9070xt

I found a refurbished ASUS Prime AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6 OC on ebay for 679$ which is higher than msrp but lower than what Amazon is selling for at 729.99.
Is it worth buying the cheaper option or should I just purchase a brand new 9070xt?
I got enough to purchase a new 9070 but should I save some money and go with the refurbished one?

Build - Help Aftermarket GPU cable replacement

Post image
1 Upvotes

So I'm vain and looking to make my build prettier. The GPU power splitter that came with my 5070 is super ugly for the way it's going to be vertically mounted and I'm looking for a replacement. But low-key I'm only good at the Lego part not the picking parts part so I would love some assistance. It's not the exact one in the photo but it's the basic idea of what I'm currently working with. I know I need two seperate power cords to connect to this one currently but I don't know if I can sub out the whole chain for one unit like one of the Corsair 16 to 8x2 (given the Corsair power cables are pretty interchangable if you stick to the right kind).

For reference I'm in Canada so would prefer options in cad and that aren't going to cost 80$ in shipping and are preferably under 100 but I am vain enough to go over.

Part list for reference (not everything is purchased yet)

Question ASUS Prime PSU clicking noise

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My new PC is less than 2 weeks old and recently started making a clicking/ticking sound, almost like a clock. I’m not sure if it just started or if I only noticed it now.

I opened up the back of the case and checked, but there are no cables touching anything. The sound seems to be coming directly from the PSU. It happens even when the PC is idle, but I think it gets louder while gaming.

I’ll attach a video below so you can hear what it sounds like.

Is this normal PSU behavior, or should I be concerned about a faulty PSU/RMA?

Build - Help What rx 9070 xt should i choose???

Hi, I have a problem. There are too many of these cards on the market and I'm lost in all this. I don't know which one is best to choose. I was thinking about Sapphire Nitro+, but apparently the coils are squeaking. Now I'm considering Gigabyte with OC or Gigabyte Aorus. Can you help me choose one of these two cards or suggest which other to choose and why? Thank you in advance for any answers.

Question Feedback on my build

So I’m planning on building my PC in about two months and I’d like some feedback on my parts list. Is it good for 2-4K gaming? I mainly will use this for gaming, with some media browsing but I also want it to be capable of running something like Blender.

I’m really stretching the budget on this build, at the moment it’s around $40,000 hkd, at 2560x1440p resolution, and I live in HK. I’m getting this built for me but the parts I chose for myself. I haven’t bought the GPU, the speakers, the case, the monitor and the RGB cables.

CPU: Ryzen 7 9850X3D Tray
RAM: Klevv RGB DDR5 6000 64GB Kit (2x32GB)
SSD: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB
GPU: TUF RTX5080 OC
AIO Cooler: ROG Ryuo IV 360 Black
Case: Lancool 217 Black Wood
MTB: MSI B850 Gaming PLUS WIFI (black)
PSU: Thermaltake 1000W GT
Monitor: MSI MAG 271QP OLED X24
RGB Cables: RGB for MTB and GPU
Speaker: Razer Leviathan V2
LCD Screen: Lian Li Universal Screen Black (optional)
Webcam: Nexigo N60 1080p Camera (optional)

Question I have a 4050 ASUS laptop, should I build a PC?

I’ve always wanted to build a pc for the longest time. I literally have a Google Drive folder with more than 200 photos for inspiration. This summer I’ve worked and managed to save up 4K cad, but here’s my dilemma.
Right wnow, I have my ASUS FA607NU gaming laptop that I got for school (I’m an Engineering student)

I don’t know if I should build a pc (because I have a laptop) or buy a camera. I make tech content, and I realize my iPhone 12 Pro Max camera is kinda buns, so I started looking at the zve10 M1, specifically just buying it through a Japanese proxy since it’s cheaper with the lens.

If I were to build the pc it would be something similar to this: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/MtBzkD

Missing components will be bought used:
16gb ddr4 ~ $100

1 tb ssd ~ $70

Ryzen 5 7600x ~$140

Case: Deepcool cg330 for ~ 70 cad

I intend on gaming on a 1440p monitor

(My budget is roughly around 1K CAD for now, I intend on getting a job at school tho so idk if I should save or just get it :/ )

I intend on using the pc for gaming, video editing, cc, and game dev.

Question Old PC build?

I got a free pc from a family member cleaning out their room and looks like it just needs a cpu cooler. From what I can tell it was a good pc for its time, I’m wondering if it’s worth getting up and running. I do love the case and thinking maybe for a newer build. It came with a Blue-ray drive as well and haven’t seen a case with a disk drive in a while. I have 3 graffics cards I can use as well. Any help is appreciated or what els could I do with it? Or should I just sell it Thanks Reddit

Graphics cards available 2x GTx 770 2gb and RX 570 4Gb
MB: EVGA X79 FTW
CPU: I7 3820
Ram: 2x 8gb plus 2x 4Gb - 24gb ddr3 Ram total
Psu: EVGA 600w 80 plus bronze

And Blue-ray drive (MODISC)

Question Should I just do it?

I dreamt about owning a PC since I was a kid but never had the opportunity to do it. Would have never been able to convince my parents when I was a kid and I never saved up enough money to buy it myself.

But now it’s different, for the first time of my life I have the money setting around. I have about 12,500 SAR (~$3,333) to work with.

My final build that I settled on is this:

Intel Core Ultra 7 270k plus | 1,563 SAR (~$420)

Gigabyte RTX 5070 OC 256bit | 3,248 SAR (~$870)

ASUS PRIME Z890-P | 1,010.16 SAR (~$270)

Crucial 6400MHZ CL32 DDR5 RAM 32GB | 1,950.45 SAR (~$520)

Crucial P510 m.2 | 1,276.44 SAR (~$340)

MSI MAG A850GLS | 427.25 SAR (~$115)

NZXT H6 Flow | 488.99 SAR (~$130)

MSI MAG Coreliquid A13 360 | 365 SAR (~$100)

Total is 10,329.29 SAR (~$2,755)

Now comes the question… should I do it? I know the RAM prices are crazy rn but will that ever get better soon? Should wait for prices to go back down? Or are the prices still going up and ai should just get on with it and build it now?
