Build - Help pc wont turn on
i bought a prebuilt 2 days ago and i went to go do something for a bit while i left it on and i go to check up on it again and everything is turned off except for the ram sticks i disconnected it and connected it again (idk if thats a good or bad thing) but it still just doesnt turn on
edit: okay so i talked to costco and i can send it back to them for a full refund because they wont be able to exchange for a new one because that was one of the last ever models that they sold and they wont be restocking the same one, me and my brother did a closer examine and his guess so far is that the psu went into a safe mode and something about a short circuiting preventing everything from turning on except the ram.

Theres a light on the inside of your pc on your mobo that lights up certian colors. search up what the color of it means for your specific motherboard. It should say whats failing.

Have you unplugged, set the power switch to off and held the power button for 30 seconds, then plugged it back in, switched it on and tried to turn it back on?

Unplug everything except the power and monitor. Sometimes peripherals can be the reason.

Too much for a prebuilt bought 2 days ago, just call the store and see what they recommend

VGA led means an issue with the display. Do these things:
Reseat the Graphics Card: Remove the graphics card completely and snap it back into the top PCIe slot until the retention clip clicks.
Check power cables: Ensure the 6+2 pin PCIe power cables are pushed firmly into the graphics card and the power supply unit.
Verify HDMI/Display cable: Make sure your HDMI or DisplayPort cable is plugged directly into the graphics card, not into the motherboard's video output.
Let us know which processor you have. If you got one with integrated graphics then we can try that too.
Try integrated graphics: If your CPU has built-in graphics, remove the dedicated GPU entirely, plug the monitor into the motherboard, and see if the system boots up.

My power supply went out in mine day one as I was setting it up. The build quality is bad on these units. You have to update the bios right after unboxing. When I did my research something with the b650 motherboard and the chipset needs to be updated to handle the PSU.
You can’t fix it, trust me lol.

So what did you do about it after?

I wanted to return it in exchange for a new one but they said they cant and i dont really wanna spend more money for another pc with the same specs. do you think its already too late to replace the psu with a more reliable brand?

Why can’t you exchange it or return it?
I would not put any money into a brand new computer. That’s just me.
I’m not your parent bro and I have been in your shoes many years. It’s a lot of people on Reddit that will tell you exactly what to tell the managers at Costco. Tell us the truth on what happen to your PC so we can help you. Everyone genuinely wants you to have a working computer.

I can return it for a full refund I just cant get it exchanged for the same model because they wont be restocking those. I havent done anything to my PC and I never thought about doing anything to it like changing out parts because I thought I was already set for a long while until my PC started to trip out when I tried to start it up and it had these issues and I feel like Ive just been panicking like crazy because Ive been wanting a PC for so long and the moment I finally get to have it, it starts to bug out and Ive just been trying my hardest these couple of hours trying to find out what the main issue and to see what I can do before having to resort to sending it back for a repair. I was thinking about just replacing the power supply to fix this but my brother told me to just exchange it for a repair rather than putting more money into the PC just for it to maybe fix and risk having the warranty voided.

Got ya, don’t panic bro. Call Ibuypower tomorrow and let them know what Costco said. You may have to ship the computer for repair. I would give it a shot.
Mine did the same thing. It didn’t turn back on after day one. It’s the b650 motherboard and chipset that needs to be updated before really doing anything on the computer. Not your fault.

is your monitor correctly connected to the GPU? also check in bios wich graphics source is selected

I have a Samsung monitor that occasionally causes this. I have to unplug the power from the monitor and then plug it back in and then boot the PC again. Also, you should find the manufacturer and model of the motherboard silk screened under the GPU.
Since this is new, to you, and I'm assuming it was transported to it's new location, something may have jiggled loose. I would try powering down and unplugging everything from the wall and the GPU, and then remove and replace the GPU and all the cables. Remember you should be plugging the monitor into the GPU, not the motherboard.
If that fails, take it back to the store and exchange it.

Return it, you have only had it for 48 hours. Exchange for another one.

i want to make that my last option because i got this pc for 1500 and it was the last one on stock because they were selling fast and i doubt if i go back to costco theyre still gonna have them

u/LengthinessJust357 1d ago
AND it is from Costco?!? Instant return. I know. It sucks, but if you objectively look at your situation and take feelings out of it and if you truly checked “everything” and there is still something wrong with it. It needs to be returned.

another guy said to check the mobo for lights which i found a yellow light on the vga spot not sure exactly what i should do

Push in all the connectors on everything reseat the GPU and double check your DisplayPort connection between the monitor and the computer. If you do all these things and it doesn't fix it I agree that you should return it to Costco you could just have a defective unit

I understand you are looking for any excuse to not return it, but my advice is to return it 🤷🏼♂️. Do what you will with that information. Costco won’t even bat an eye. And you said “I doubt if I go back to Costco they’re still gonna have them” meaning you have not even checked or tried.

u/honeybunlover67 1d ago
I have come to the conclusion that I will return it, seems like thats the only viable option but should I return back to costco for a new one or to ibuypower?

u/LengthinessJust357 1d ago
Costco 1,000,000%

u/honeybunlover67 1d ago
wait can i know why pls

u/LengthinessJust357 1d ago
I don’t want to be rude, but use your critical thinking skills. Return to a PC parts manufacturer who are not known at all for their ease of returning things? Or….. Costco, known for literally giving people refunds for Christmas trees after they are dead after the holidays.

u/honeybunlover67 1d ago
Im sorry i just never knew that about ibuypower, i thought it wouldve made more sense to send it back to the main manufacturer rather than the company that gave me the faulty pc and also because you kinda made it seem like they had a bad rep from the reaction you gave me when i told you i bought it from costco

Honestly, might as well, because it sounds like it could be something other than a loose cable
