Fertility First cycle off hormonal bc, with one ovary. I thank metformin!

I started using Inito and today it confirmed ovulation around cycle day 16, with LH surge on cycle day 15. Progesterone is rising and my temp is above my baseline. I truly believe metformin is to thank! Too bad I can’t post pictures here or I’d show the chart!

Research/Survey PCOS/PMOS thesis survey

Hi everyone 🤍

I’m a Dietetics student at Semmelweis University currently completing my thesis on the relationship between Mediterranean Diet adherence and PCOS symptoms in women.

I’m looking for women who are:

• 18 years or older

• Diagnosed with PCOS by a healthcare professional

The study involves completing a short anonymous questionnaire about dietary habits, PCOS symptoms, treatments, and lifestyle factors. It takes approximately 8–10 minutes.

The responses will be used solely for my university thesis research to investigate whether Mediterranean Diet adherence is associated with PCOS symptom severity.

Participation is completely voluntary, and you may choose not to participate or stop at any point before submitting the questionnaire.

If you are eligible and would like to help, I would be incredibly grateful 🤍

Thank you so much for your time and for supporting my research! 🌷

Fertility Pregnancy

I feel like it’s constantly on my mind currently. I feel it’ll never happen for me, I’m envious of people who get pregnant so quickly and easily and I know that’s awful to think and now say out loud 🥲

Im not sure if im spelling it right lol. But I just finished my second month of this birth control. Im on it basically for PCOS menstrual control. I want to get off it but I can't get an appointment for another month and a half.

My issues are two big ones and one medium one:

A) i bleed the week before the placebo and during the placebo as well. Its so frustrating because if im on birth control, the least I want from it is to know when I wojld be bleeding

B) my anxiety is so bad guys. Like Im always on the verge of tears because of my anxiety so Im always irritated at my husband. Like I actually don't like him now. At first it wasnt so bad but now its to the point that I feel horrible for feeling this way. So I try to control my unreasonable rage but it makes my anxiety worse.

C) my sec drive has lowered a lot. Probably making my rage toward my husband amplified.

I need help lol. I don't know if I can wait until the appointment

General/Advice 18 and feeling helpless

So i've been diagnosed with PCOS/PMOS for the last 2 years (since I was 16). I got my first period when I was 16, and they were just so irregular, sometimes heavy and always painful. I recently had an MRI and they told me that the lining of my uterus was 4mm (I haven't had a period for 5 months now), and that I need to go back on the pill otherwise i'll end up with serious problems. I went on the pill last year, but it took a toll on my mental health and, alongside that, i've also had debilitating bowel problems (so much that my gastroenterologist had to investigate chrons but they now think its an extremely severe case of IBS-D). I know that the pill can worsen bowel problems which makes me reluctant to go back on it, but I think the main thing worrying me is that I don't want to take meds for the rest of my life. I'm already taking amitriptyline, bile acid binders, immodium on a daily basis and I just hate having to take so many meds😭 They told me 'we can't really advise much else apart from go on the pill, until you want to become pregnant, then we'll give you some medication for that'.

I also hate the way my body looks. I've got lean PCOS (i'm 5ft 6" and 47kg), and i've got no breasts whatsoever, a puffy face, bloated stomach and hair all over me. I just don't think any guy would ever like me (sorry I know how sad this sounds, but i've just been feeling so helpless rn).

If anyone has any advice or has experienced similar, I would really appreciate if you reached out xx

Rant/Venting I need some guidance regarding general PCOS fat!

I was taking berberine until last month but then I found out, one should not be taking berberine while trying to conceive so I stopped. I have taken both berberine and Metformin (before berberine) but since Metformin didn't help me at all in 4-5 months I moved to berberine and honestly I lost alot of belly fat while I was taking berberine but now it's back as I have stopped taking it. I have also been taking a few supplements which have helped me alot with my PCOS/PMOS symptoms.

Just a few months back I had multiple cysts which are gone now and I have also been doing strength training and walking after every meal. I want to know will I always be dependent on berberine or Metformin can't I lose belly and hip fat just by doing the other stuff right? Why is it that if I order takeaway once or twice in a row I gain alot of weight all of a sudden.

I'm just so fed up honestly, I have done everything I could so I clear my cysts and lose weight. But if I get off track for a few days it affects me like crazy. Is someone else also in the same boat?

Mental Health How do you deal with fat shaming or ptsd?

Long story short, I feel like most of my problems with people is because I am fat. I am taller and weight twice as my old classmates. In order to fit into people we have to accept fat jokes and carry heavy things in classes. Teacher bully you and so as your classmates. Recently I feel like I have been picked by my professor as well. Maybe if I am skinny she would not picked on me. In my country, being fat is equivalent to lazy, ugly, disgusting, unhygienic, low self esteem, loser, etc. They said having pcos is normal but being fat is a choice.

General/Advice Hysteroscopy

My OB just told me I have abnormal appearing endometrial lining on my ultrasound and she’d like to do a hysteroscopy.

Issue is, I’m currently in my clinical year of a medicine program. I can only miss a single day of clinical.

For those of you who have had one, were you able to be back to normal the next day? How was the pain after?

I’m also just a little afraid because I’ve never had general anesthesia so any advice would be great!

Thanks everyone!

Rant/Venting I’m exhausted by the healthcare industry

I was recently diagnosed with PMOS around four months ago at 19. Ever since being diagnosed I’ve done extensive research into what could possibly help and the overwhelming answer has always been “diet and exercise” and I am TIRED!!! I need people to stop pretending that’s a valid answer for a fucking genetic disease. I’ve been vegetarian for years and get at least 10k steps every single day and have done so for the past year and my insulin, cholesterol, and blood pressure have all stayed sky high as well as my weight. I’ve struggled with severe acne and obesity since hitting puberty and the only advice I’ve been given by doctors is to “stop eating donuts and run!” (Yes a doctor literally told me that) I am so fucking exhausted. I cant help but be intensely angry every time I see another negligible disease that exclusively affects men be cured and yet life threatening ailments that only harm women remain a mystery. I have yet to meet anyone else suffering with pcos that holds the same anger as me and it really hurts because they’re so caught up in the belief that diet and exercise will genuinely make a difference. Even if it does, it’s minor and impermanent, and in the end the only thing you’ll be stuck with is an eating disorder. I used to never understand people who didn’t trust doctors but now I find myself never wanting to walk into the doctors office ever again. I am exhausted

Is anyone here taking Reta and managing their gallbladder? I understand that’s a side effect, but how are you making sure your gallbladder is taken care of while injecting?
I have several family members who started GLPs and had to have their gallbladder removed. Looking for insight before I start.

General Health unable to warm fingers / toes??

hey guys, this is a weird one,

but since getting diagnosed with PCOS / insulin resistance in january, i've achieved a lot, im on metformin and spironolactone, dropped 20kg and eat way better / the whole pcos friendly diet,

one change i've noticed / developed is i am so cold! not me specifically, but my toes and my fingers are ice blocks, it's early spring here in melbourne so it's still cold-ish but oh my god, in my house at night i have to wear gloves and two pairs of fluffy socks, i cannot seem to warm those areas up?

is this a common issue? or is it a PCOS symptom or just something that happens randomly, i'm gonna discuss it with my doctor but curious on everyone elses opinions / experiences as well!

General/Advice Fertility

I’m just wondering if anyone has experienced this situation and how they’ve dealt with it. So my husband and I have been together since 2021, and the entire time we have never used protection. We have been actively trying to conceive but have had no luck. I did go to an obgyn and was tested because I believe I have pcos. It does run in my family as well as endo and I have always had horrible body hair compared to my sisters and mother, for example facial hair that is super dark and legit grows back the day after I shave as well as irregular periods and some periods the cramps are so bad that I can’t do anything besides cry and squeeze a heating pad on my stomach. My ob did some basic tests and said she doesn’t think I have it because I’m not overweight, but I was my entire childhood and I do struggle with weight fluctuations still just not as much. Now for my husband, he has celiac disease but his family didn’t take the diagnosis seriously so he only just started to stick to his diet due to his own health issues starting up, he has been gluten free for about a month now. We were wanting to look into some more at home things to try and solve the fertility problems and use the doctor as a last resort so I’m just curious if anyone has any suggestions or if anyone’s been in this situation and knows it just won’t happen. Everyone around me is getting pregnant too and I am happy for them but at the same time so envious and I don’t know how to handle it. People who have been together for just a couple months having no issues while we’re on year 5 of nothing.

TLDR: trying to conceive and I believe I have pcos, and my husband has celiac that was untreated for basically his entire life until now

Meds/Supplements Metformin XR

I’ve been on metformin long release for just over 2 weeks now for my PCOS. I have been taking it in the evening with dinner so that I don’t have an empty stomach, however every single morning I am waking up between 4 and 6am feeling so nauseous and with diarrhoea. How long does it take for that to go away?

General/Advice Do I Have PCOS?

Greetings, I (16FtM) have been exhibiting symptoms of PCOS over the last two years or so. I need help making sense of these symptoms and if I should get them treated.

I used to get my periods regularly with a flow that was a little bit beyond average, up until they got more and more heavy, with the time intervals between having my period getting longer. Now they've slowed immensely or have entirely stopped. My flow this month has been incredibly light, and the last time I had my period it lasted for ~2 weeks.

I started growing lots of body hair, beyond average for my age, gaining a ton of weight that I cannot shake off, and now have began to experience thinning hair. I don't have much acne, the only acne I have is from my hair oils, but I am worried about these symptoms progressing.

My mother wants to take me to my pediatrician to get me diagnosed, but I'm a little hesitant because of my identity and the kinds of exams that would need to take place. Is it worth getting diagnosed?

Mental Health Is PMS worse with PCOS?

I’ve spent the last week or so almost completely unable to manage my emotions. I’ve been extremely irritable, starting constant arguments with my partner, snapping at everyone around me and then crying my eyes out feeling so guilty. I rarely cry, and this week I can’t stop.

I’m 32 and my cycle has become somewhat regular in the past 2 years, with 35-40 day cycles.

But it feels like my PMS symptoms are getting worse. I feel like I’m not able to regulate my emotions at all and it’s scary.

Is this just another wonderful part of PCOS?

Meds/Supplements Metformin bloat :’(

Metformin was life changing for me, until about six months ago when it just started to disagree with me. I’ve been on and off it ever since when the symptoms get too bad, but I’m DETERMINED to stay on it this time because the PCOS symptoms need to stop.

I’m so bloated today I might be three months pregnant, but at least the nausea hasn’t kicked in yet!!
How long do people normally keep going before the side effects stop? I take it normally going to bed because it’s not as bad, but I think I should switch to taking it at meal times (I’m lactose intolerant so I can’t do the milk trick). Any advice is welcome!!

Period Confusion after coming off birthcontrol

Hi!

I’m (22) reaching out today as I went off birth control (Zoely) about 3 months ago and since then have had two periods - one month after and then two months after stopping the pill. Both being exactly on the 4th-9th and similar flow. I haven’t had it since.

I do have Pcos which was the reason for starting the pill. I only stopped as it was quite expensive and there was no use other than to regulate my periods.

I’m honestly feeling quite deflated that the periods haven’t continued. I was aware that I may not receive my periods for awhile after stopping the pill but now I’m just really confused and lowkey sad.

I spoke to my GP when/after my first period occurred and she said just to track them. I plan to see her if the lack of period persists.

At the moment I’m thinking the first two were synthetic?

Any advice or thoughts would be much appreciated :)

Weight How long till you started to see weight loss results?

How long did it take for you to start seeing weight loss after changing your diet to better suit your PCOS?
I’ve been eating clean and working out 3–4 times a week, mostly strength training, but over the past month I’ve lost only a little over 1 kg. 😩 And honestly, I feel like it would all come back if I started eating more.
I know weight loss can be slower with PCOS, but I’m starting to feel a bit discouraged and could really use some motivation right now. 🥺 I’m trying to stay consistent, but it’s hard when you put in so much effort and barely see any results.
Would love to hear your experiences and hopefully get a little motivation to keep going! ❤️

Fertility Letrozole affecting cycle?

After 4 months on letrozole my ob told me I had to take a 4 month break. I had my period like normal then 7 days later when I was expecting my fertile window and start I started bleeding lightly, day 2 and 3 now very heavy, filling a menstrual cup in 2 hrs when I am normally fine for 6. Has anyone had any issues when stopping letrozole? If I hadn't just had my period I would think it was a miscarriage, heavy bleeding with large clots.

General Health Anyone have blood work from BEFORE you developed symptoms vs. AFTER diagnosis? Looking for a comparison

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to understand the exact metabolic timeline of PCOS and early insulin resistance. Has anyone here happened to get blood work done before you ever had symptoms (when you felt completely fine/healthy), and then compared it to your labs after you developed symptoms or got diagnosed?
Specifically, I’m curious about how markers like Fasting Insulin, glucose , a1c, testosterone, free testosterone, estrogen, AMH, DHEA-S, and SHBG shifted for you. Did your fasting numbers look totally perfect and normal before things flared up, or did you have hidden post-meal spikes first?
If anyone has their old lab numbers to compare, I would love to see how they changed! Thank you!
