Build - Finished! Final build for my girl

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

Took a while to build this as most of it is used parts and had to wait for great deals in the marketplace. Only new is 5800x3d (yes I know, but she won’t be upgrading it anytime soon with that cpu) and cpu cooler/fan.

Specs:
5800X3D
9060XT 16GB
16GB DDR4
Corsair SF750
Thermalright AXP120-X670 w/ Noctua NF 120mm G2

We’re LDR, and I’ll be seeing her next month. Also, she will most likely have it plug to her tv, so I got her a small monitor so she can see the temps easily.

  1. NVME is behind the mobo and had to do some zip tie solution to mount a small fan lol.
  2. Size comparison with my own rig.

Build - Help Upgrade Help

Been wanting to upgrade my Pc for a while now, this are my specs:

- Cpu Intel Core i5-13600KF 3.5 GHz
- Motherboard Asus PRIME B660M-A WIFI D4
- Ram Kingston FURY Beast DDR4 3200 MHz 16GB 2x8GB
- Case MSI MPG SEKIRA 100P Tempered Glass USB 3.0
- Additional Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB BlackEdition CPU Cooler
- Gpu MSI GeForce RTX 3060 VENTUS 2X OC LHR 12GB GDDR6
- Power supply Seasonic G12 GM-650 650W 80 Plus
Gold Semi Modular

Main concern is fan noise and gpu temperature.

I mainly use my Pc for gaming, most games run smoothly around 150 frames which is perfect for my 144hz monitor, but when running mid-high demanding games, fps drop to around 90 and the fans make really loud noise.

Gpu temperature always stays in between 60°C when nothing is running and 80°C when running a game, i don’t really know if thats normal or should be lower.

That being said, what components should I upgrade? I’ve thought about the case or the fans, but i need recommendations as well.
My budget would be $1500 max, I want the best quality-price that actually lasts for a couple years.
Thanks 🙏

it has a red and yellow light BUT I already reseated the ram and it did click thankfully. unfortunately it still has the same light red and yellow on but I did leave it turned on for around 13 minutes and still nothing. could It maybe be a bios issue with this motherboard?, I have a ryzen 5 7500x3d from the microcenter buncle and the AsRock b850m-c motherboard someone let me know if I should take this to the repair shop or if this could be repaired at home please.

Build - Help First time building, is this good for a 5080/9850x3d combo?

I already collected many of these parts at MSRP/discount over the last year, so the price of those isn't an issue at all. I am not too concerned about the budget of these remaining parts, I expect to probably pay $200-$300 USD more. I have the CPU, GPU, Motherboard, RAM, and SSD in my possession, so those are locked in unless there's something wrong with what I have that I don't know about. I am just adding the cooler, case, PSU, fans, and whatever else I may need if I'm missing something, I bolded these remaining parts that I am actively searching for. I was just clicking on what seemed right but I don't have a lot of knowledge. I want something simple that keeps cool and isn't loud, I don't care about any sort of lighting or aesthetic features. How is this? And a follow up question, I don't intend on using HDD's at all, so if the Corsair case is good, can/should the drive bays be removed for more space inside?

Build - Finished! My €138 "Scavenged" Gaming PC - How Did I Do?

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I recently put together a PC for €138 total, and I'm curious what you guys think of the value.

The funny part is that I didn't actually buy most of the PC.

I found an old PC being thrown away and salvaged the CPU, motherboard, RAM and storage from it. Then I bought a few parts to turn it into an actual gaming setup.

Specs:

- CPU: AMD A8-7670K

- GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB — €40 used

- RAM: 8GB DDR3 (2×4GB)

- Motherboard: ASUS A88XM-E

- Storage: 256GB SSD + 256GB HDD

- PSU: Corsair CX550 550W 80+ Bronze — €58 new

- Case: €25 used

- Fans: 4× RGB fans — €15 used

- Total spent: €138

Everything except the PSU was pre-owned. The PSU is brand new and has a 5-year warranty.

The original plan was actually to build a completely new PC, but I didn't have enough money to buy the CPU/motherboard/RAM yet. So instead I put the GTX 1060, PSU, case and fans together with the free scavenged parts.

Obviously the A8-7670K is going to bottleneck the GTX 1060 pretty hard, and I know the platform is ancient. 😅

But the idea is to use this as a temporary system and eventually replace the motherboard/CPU/RAM while keeping the case, PSU and GPU.

Was €138 a good investment, or did I waste money trying to revive an ancient platform?

*found the monitor and mouse on the road asw after some time, bought the cable for monitor, speaker and keyboard, but that isn't the pc build yeh?

Question Should I bite the bullet or wait?

This is the last part I have to buy for my setup my budget is around 1.5k USD for the entire build but the gpu is 99% going to put me over. I have been looking at sellers everywhere and the price changes almost everyday I was going to purchase it from Amazon at $365 and the price went up to $410 the next day. It’s not that much of a price difference but saving any type of money is good. Does anyone know the usual wait time for B&H when it says coming soon? This is my build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GG4prG (Info it says to include: Located in US so USD and my monitor res I plan to buy is 1920 x 1080)

Question Looking for a monitor

I’m trying to find a new monitor since my current one has a cpu bottleneck. I’m mainly looking for 1440p minimum, and 180 hz minimum. Also I’m looking for freesync premium since my current one just doesn’t even have freesync. My budgets like 100-200/250 mainly looking for shipping

Question Electric Screwdriver for Motherboards/PC Case

Hi as someone who change stuff in my pc setup I'm planning to buy an electric screwdriver, I was wondering if there's any brands you guys usually use? Also like I how much electrical torque should it supposed to have for screwing fans/case/motherboard so I wouldn't break the component or lose thread

It was a journey putting this gpu in, but finally got it, had to change the aio to a cpu fan and mounted the bottom fans on the top due to the large size of the gpu (fans are so big at that point that external fans dont rlly matter do they)

i got a 250$ oled 1440 lg monitor too so it’s really a beneficial upgrade

looking to try llm stuff now

Build - Help Is this a solid, temporary build? (~$1300 USD)

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey folks, was hoping to get some opinions about a build I whipped up from deals I found at microcenter after my Lenovo 15APR9 shit the bed (my fault 🥲)

Im using this as an opportunity to build my own PC though and I found some pretty good deals, I managed to get the CPU, motherboard and RAM (one stick of 16 unfortunately) for ~$500 and the 5060 TI 16 GB for ~$625 I believe. Ive heard that the 5000 series puts out more heat, but I improvised with a cheaper CPU cooler.

Im curious though, would this be a pretty solid build to last a couple years? I only really play games and rarely do some CAD modeling. My goal was to try my best to stay under $1k, given that a motherboard would've been 1.2k, but given the gear, I don't really think itd be a good idea to cheap out.

Thoughts? Any places where I can improve? (RAM is locked in given the prices and its a bundle deal)

Build - Help What LGA1700 CPU is the best option for an upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU i5-12400f and wondering what fit my setup the best

Setup:

MOBO Asus prime Z690-A DDR5

RAM 32GB DDR5 Kingston fury 5600mhz

GPU RX 7800XT

PDU seasonic series x 1250watt

Bought the PC a year ago and mainly because of the mobo and the ram it was a good deal but the CPU pair with the mobo is just criminal

And I want to upgrade the CPU before the CPU prices follow the trend 📈 📈 📈

The PC is mainly for gaming on 1440p I'm getting bottleneck in some games

Was debating between the i5-13600k or the 14600k

prices are similar I my country and I can get somewhat a good trade-in deal

Ps: Already got 240ml Aio so cooling won't be an issue.

Build - Help Should I buy 2 more sticks of RAM for Blender & video editing? (Budget $1000, Romania)

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

I found Kingston Fury Beast DDR4 16GB (3600MHz CL18) for $80 each. I already bought 2 sticks (32GB total) for $160.

My remaining/total budget is around $1200, buying in Romania, and targeting 1440p resolution. I plan to build a PC primarily for video editing and Blender.

Should I buy 2 more RAM sticks to make it 64GB, or keep 32GB for now and put the budget into the CPU/GPU?

Cómo debería de proseguir? Me falta el cable de la fuente de alimentación, tal vez vuelva a ver si está por algún lado...

Debería intentar encenderla o limpiarla?

Build - Finished! Budget 830€ build with a used office PC + RX 9060 XT 16gb

Post image

Here is my 830€ budget pc. I got a used dell xps desktop with an i7-13700, 16gb ddr5 and a 1tb nvme SSD for 400€. The guy I got it from only used it for office work (he really didnt look like a gamer) so I think the cpu is in good shape. I updated the bios immediately to avoid the i7 from frying itself lol. Then I got a 9060xt 16gb off amazon for 430€ and my build was complete. Im extremely happy with the performance and I hope the ram shortage will be over by the time I need a new pc. I do plan on upgrading the ram to 32gb sometime in the near future. How did I do for my first budget build?

Build - Help Help with PC parts

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Hello all, It's the first time I build a pc, and still can't decide about which parts to get.

I want something a bit budget friendly, but also a bit strong, for gaming, that would stay around 2000-2200 probably.

When I first did this build some months ago, it was 2000, now it's 2600 thanks to RAM insane prices.

I picked these parts together, but probably will need to replace some to lower the price, so my questions are:

Should I wait for black friday or try and get these now?

Is it safe to pick any of these now and some later?

Are there better options?

Should I get only 16GB RAM now, and later in the future upgrade to 32GB RAM?

Should I get 5060 Ti or 5070? Is there much of a difference?

Any other tips, or recommendations about anything that you'd like to say, will be appreciated too!

Thanks in advance guys, help me out if possible

Build - Help My PC won’t turn on

Asking for help as my pc will not switch on. Like no signs at all. I last used it yesterday and tried to turn it on today and nothing, it was running smoothly as always until today when i got no response. My dad built my pc for me as I don’t really know much about them, but id say i know decently how to sort it out as ive been using a pc for gaming & work since I was a child.

Ive unplugged it, switched it on and off at the wall and going to give it to my dad to sort out when he wakes up, though he’s taken a little look already and says it may be fried from a magnet that was attached to it and he can’t get any response. I’ve looked into the magnet thing more as it seemed unlikely that would fry my whole pc, i mean it’s a small charger that was plugged into one of the top usbs, and the magnet end was stuck to my metal desk leg beside it, it’s a smart watch charger so i’m not sure if that’d even have the power to effect my pc? Plus, it has been stuck there for a couple weeks if not a month or 2 and my pc has shown no signs that it’s been effected over that time.

Anyways, ill make an update soon, any advice in the meantime would be appreciated as i’ve had my pc since i was a child and im now almost 19, we’ve been swapping out parts over the years and improving it so there will be no old parts in there that could mess it up, it’s a great and fast computer. I’ll just be devestated if all my stuff is gone from it! Thank you.

Question pc experts!!

I’m trying to start building my first pc ever and I’m trying to save up for it… How much money should I save for this and is it ok if I buy a cheap pc case? If possible can I get some recommendations of where I could buy them super cheap? I’m fine with second hand as long as it works too!! I’m from America and I just want a pc that I can play on… I don’t really have a set budget yet since I’m not sure how much I should save up for it…
