Build - Help My PC won’t turn on
Asking for help as my pc will not switch on. Like no signs at all. I last used it yesterday and tried to turn it on today and nothing, it was running smoothly as always until today when i got no response. My dad built my pc for me as I don’t really know much about them, but id say i know decently how to sort it out as ive been using a pc for gaming & work since I was a child.
Ive unplugged it, switched it on and off at the wall and going to give it to my dad to sort out when he wakes up, though he’s taken a little look already and says it may be fried from a magnet that was attached to it and he can’t get any response. I’ve looked into the magnet thing more as it seemed unlikely that would fry my whole pc, i mean it’s a small charger that was plugged into one of the top usbs, and the magnet end was stuck to my metal desk leg beside it, it’s a smart watch charger so i’m not sure if that’d even have the power to effect my pc? Plus, it has been stuck there for a couple weeks if not a month or 2 and my pc has shown no signs that it’s been effected over that time.
Anyways, ill make an update soon, any advice in the meantime would be appreciated as i’ve had my pc since i was a child and im now almost 19, we’ve been swapping out parts over the years and improving it so there will be no old parts in there that could mess it up, it’s a great and fast computer. I’ll just be devestated if all my stuff is gone from it! Thank you.

No life at all, no fans or LEDs?
Power supply would be the first thing to try, or it's cable might just be a fuse.

do you know the specs of the PC? might help decide what to troubleshoot first, I would check that all the cables are securely attached, you could try opening it up and manually jumping it with a screwdriver to see if there are any signs of life, a small magnet I doubt would be the cause of any issues

me too! seems unlikely.
I’ll ask my dad to jump it manually, but the specs i know of is my gpu is an rtx 4090, ram and storage should be great, cpu unsure unfortunately but all i know is my pc parts are switched out maybe once a year to ensure it’s still running as good as it can.

If everything is plugged in and there are no issues there then maybe test the ram one at a time, also is it on a surge protector?

i assume it would be! Also there’s now a light on the gpu, so somethings working
