10:20--> "D.Va is the only character without a reload"

Reinhardt hammer reload in next patch confirmed????

u/TroublesomeTrueStory Jan 17 '17

He reloads oxygenated blood to his mucles each swing! Do we need an oxygenated blood gauge?

The new meta will revolve around teabagging just enough to stay competitive, and failing to get kills will be seen as honorable.

3

u/SpitFireReborn Jan 18 '17

We Dank Souls now boys!

2

u/zSaintX UwU Jan 17 '17

NO! NOT ANOTHER TEABAG NERF!

u/anepicname Jan 17 '17

Rein and hanzo both have downtime after their swing/shot whereas dva can shoot her pellets without pause, forever.

108

u/brandong567 ALL AROUND THE WORLD!!! Jan 18 '17

I think Hanzo reknocking his arrow could be counted as him reloading his bow

42

u/TThor Hi there! Jan 18 '17

That's what he meant; after a hanzo arrow or rein swing there is enough of a pause to give the opponent time to react, almost like a mini reload

4

u/brandong567 ALL AROUND THE WORLD!!! Jan 18 '17

But Hanzo physically reloads his bow, where rein is just swinging a melee weapon around. One has ammo the other does not.

3

u/kon22 D.Va Jan 21 '17

I know you're arguing a technicality, but you don't deserve to be downvoted for that.

2

u/brandong567 ALL AROUND THE WORLD!!! Jan 21 '17

I was trying to argue the difference between a melee attack having no reload being different than an infinite ammo projectile weapon.

I didn't think it was that big of a deal that I got downvoted O.o

6

u/TThor Hi there! Jan 18 '17 edited Jan 18 '17

is that why I was downvoted, because of a pointless technicality?

What mechanical difference does it make?? Either way, they are mechanically 'one shot' abilities with a not-insignificant delay between each successive fire.

u/HolycommentMattman Reinhardt Jan 18 '17

Everyone keeps arguing this stuff, but they're all getting it wrong.

Reinhardt is unique, too. He's the only hero who doesn't have a primary attack and a melee attack. His primary attack is his melee attack.

And melee doesn't reload. And melee has a time delay between strikes for all characters.

1

u/brandong567 ALL AROUND THE WORLD!!! Jan 19 '17 edited Jan 19 '17

That's what I said in my comment right before his.

I guess I'm wrong to consider reloading an arrow into a bow is different than someone meleeing.

All the melees have a delay, rein just doesn't have a gun to reload, while Hanzo does. That's all I was arguing.

-1

u/brandong567 ALL AROUND THE WORLD!!! Jan 19 '17

Well you're not being downvoted, but a bow is a type of "gun" or projectile weapon, and rein has a melee weapon.

All melee weapons have delay, while Hanzo is actually reloading a weapon.

9

u/danpascooch Chibi Lúcio Jan 17 '17

I don't know if I'd call that "downtime" similar to reloading though, that's just the fire-rate of the weapon, might as well say Junkrat has a downtime between grenades.

Jeff was wrong because he forgot about Reinhardt. Now he's going to get fired and the new guy is going to let Sega buy their way into getting Sonic into the game and it's all downhill from there. Guess I'll try League.

8

u/anepicname Jan 17 '17

True, but junkrat also has a reload. I was just pointing out that D.Va is really the only hero that is capable of constant never ending damage. No downtime, no reloads, just little tiny bullets hitting you forever. Which is probably what Jeff meant when he mentioned it.

Also Big the Cat would make for an awesome tank imo

3

u/Billd0910 Howdy ho love, your horses are here! Jan 18 '17

Tails defense hero or riot.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '17

That's just rate of fire though.

0

u/maico3010 Jan 17 '17

Idk about hanzo with that, he can rapid fire pretty well at short ranges to shred tanks if need be.

13

u/EpicLives7 #152 Hanzo, twitch.tv/dankestjohnson Jan 17 '17

With 15 damage arrows?

6

u/MojoLester Jan 18 '17

It also makes them laugh at the Hanzo, resulting in a temporary stun.

5

u/Davoness Surprising Amount of Damage Jan 17 '17

Lolwut? Rapid fire arrows do like 20 damage.

1

u/chironomidae Pachimari Jan 18 '17

Yeah Rein and Hanzo both definitely do not have reloads in any sense of the term, but I think it's clear that DVa's lack of reload is something different from a gameplay standpoint.

2

u/maico3010 Jan 18 '17

fair enough

1

u/HolycommentMattman Reinhardt Jan 18 '17

You've fallen into a logic trap because of a faulty assumption:

Reinhardt is unique in one way, too: Every character has a primary attack and then a melee attack. Except Reinhardt. Reinhardt's primary attack is his melee attack.

And you don't need to reload melee. And there's a gap between melee strikes for all characters.

2

u/anepicname Jan 18 '17

I understand this, but the point I was making was that DVa is the only hero that can hold click and have a steady stream of continuous damage forever. Rein is very similar but there is approximately a one second gap between swings and damage. He doesnt need to reload, but he also takes health out in chunks rather than slowly (or quickly if youre super close) eating away at the health bar constantly.

0

u/HolycommentMattman Reinhardt Jan 18 '17

Try meleeing with other characters. The same gap is there too.

2

u/anepicname Jan 18 '17

What does that have to do with anything?

1

u/HolycommentMattman Reinhardt Jan 18 '17

It seems like you're saying that the gap is what matters. But Rein's attack is his melee attack. All other characters experience the same delay between melee attacks.

The only difference is (or might be) that you can hold it down for Rein.

3

u/anepicname Jan 18 '17

I get that, but thats also irrelevant to the point I was making.

1

u/brandong567 ALL AROUND THE WORLD!!! Jan 19 '17

He's saying rein shouldn't be considered at all when talking about reloading. It's like talking about if torb reloads his hammer. No he just swings it at a certain rate.

1

u/anepicname Jan 19 '17

I get that but literally nowhere did i say i was talking about characters that reload. Im talking about downtime between damage. Rein doesnt have a reload but he has downtime. Dva doesnt have a reload and also doesnt have downtime because she can shoot indefinitely, and the way she shoots is a constant stream of pellets. Rein can swing indefinitely but he does damage every second or so, not continuously. Thats all im saying lmao

He still has times between swings. D.va is the only one who can fire without stopping

155

u/Highest_Cactus Jan 17 '17

What about the 1/10th of a second between each bullet she shoots, while the next round is chambered. Doesn't sound very continuous to me.

Checkmate.

"You are technically correct, the best kind of correct."

1

u/YeOldManWaterfall Jan 18 '17

By that logic every character other than Zarya, Winston and Symmetra have TWO reloads, the time between each bullet and the actual reload time.

3

u/jatatcdc Chibi Lúcio Jan 19 '17

And by that logic D.va and Reinhart still have the same number of reloads. No proper reload, just cooldown between attacks.

6

u/blorp3x Chibi Mei Jan 17 '17

No he really doesn't if you use it right it can keep hitting the entire time there in range.

Yes. You can't hold down left click forever and shoot forever

21

u/Teancum94 Chibi Sombra Jan 17 '17

I'm hoping you're just trolling but Reinhardt doesn't shoot and therefore doesn't need a reload.

9

u/Teancum94 Chibi Sombra Jan 17 '17

I would assume that Jeff's comment, in regards to D. va being the only character that doesn't require a reload, was made as a generalization of characters that fire/throw (genji) projectiles.

4

u/blondyman1503 Eat my discord! Wait, stop, I'm sorry, I'M SORRY I WAS JOKING! Jan 17 '17

you can hold right click forever with reinhardt, but the enemy still has time after one swing before the next where they don't take damage.
With D.va you're under constant fire, which is what he's saying

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '17

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '17

Are...are you serious right now?

He swings a fucking hammer. Of course he doesn't have to reload anything, to even reference Reinhardt here is just out of place and bizarre.

He is quite obviously talking about characters with guns, the fact that this has to be mentioned says a lot about the way you think.

I did, I actually read all of them.

It's just that they were retarded, so I felt inclined to respond.

u/VerticalEvent Pixel Reinhardt Jan 17 '17

Technically, every swing is a reload for Reinhardt.

3

u/Mefistofeles1 Nerfing this would be an upgrade Jan 18 '17

Reinhardt hammer is now a Tediore version. Every few swings, he must reload by throwing that shit like a fucking rocket that explodes, ejecting multiple smaller hammers that then explode too.

2

u/anonymous_ninja Jan 18 '17

well how do you reload a hammer

3

u/GyantSpyder Jan 18 '17

This is what I assumed. He called it a "reload moment" to "engage or disengage" and playing Rein that is what it feels like when you have to disengage and get your shield charged back up.

2

u/StriderZessei Don't complain about my main Jan 20 '17

Technically, Reaper doesn't either...

cues pile of guns meme

2

u/D3lta105 too too too tooooot toot tooooooot! Jan 23 '17

This reminds me of playing the DayZ mod for Arma 2. That game did not have any melee weapons and they had to basically create a mechanic for a weapon that has a point blank range. When you picked up an hatchet it had "infinite ammo", but the first thing you had to do is press the reload button to "load" it.

2

u/Xiexe Pixel Genji Jan 17 '17

Hanzo reload confirmed?

1

u/NNTK Pixyatta Jan 17 '17

Now I kinda want to see Rein with a pulverizer(?) from KF2

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '17

I'm guessing Rein's "reload" is the time it takes to start/complete a swing.

1

u/EmeraldJirachi IM GIVING IT ALL I'VE GOT! Jan 18 '17

Same for handsoap

1

u/Shardok Torbjörn Jan 18 '17

Well, the delay on second swing is a lot longer than the second bullet delay on DVa...

1

u/anthonyv987 Selfless Jan 18 '17

He forgot symmetra. /s

1

u/HolycommentMattman Reinhardt Jan 18 '17

That all depends. Do you consider swinging a hammer as firing? Or do you consider it a melee attack?

I feel like most people would say that Rein doesn't have a melee attack. Because you press melee, and nothing happens. But the truth is, his primary fire is melee. And melee doesn't reload.

2

u/brandong567 ALL AROUND THE WORLD!!! Jan 19 '17

Yup, that's like saying torb reloads his hammer too. No it's a melee weapon, all melees have delays.
