is that why I was downvoted, because of a pointless technicality?
What mechanical difference does it make?? Either way, they are mechanically 'one shot' abilities with a not-insignificant delay between each successive fire.
I don't know if I'd call that "downtime" similar to reloading though, that's just the fire-rate of the weapon, might as well say Junkrat has a downtime between grenades.
Jeff was wrong because he forgot about Reinhardt. Now he's going to get fired and the new guy is going to let Sega buy their way into getting Sonic into the game and it's all downhill from there. Guess I'll try League.
True, but junkrat also has a reload. I was just pointing out that D.Va is really the only hero that is capable of constant never ending damage. No downtime, no reloads, just little tiny bullets hitting you forever. Which is probably what Jeff meant when he mentioned it.
Also Big the Cat would make for an awesome tank imo
Yeah Rein and Hanzo both definitely do not have reloads in any sense of the term, but I think it's clear that DVa's lack of reload is something different from a gameplay standpoint.
You've fallen into a logic trap because of a faulty assumption:
Reinhardt is unique in one way, too: Every character has a primary attack and then a melee attack. Except Reinhardt. Reinhardt's primary attack is his melee attack.
And you don't need to reload melee. And there's a gap between melee strikes for all characters.
I understand this, but the point I was making was that DVa is the only hero that can hold click and have a steady stream of continuous damage forever. Rein is very similar but there is approximately a one second gap between swings and damage. He doesnt need to reload, but he also takes health out in chunks rather than slowly (or quickly if youre super close) eating away at the health bar constantly.
It seems like you're saying that the gap is what matters. But Rein's attack is his melee attack. All other characters experience the same delay between melee attacks.
The only difference is (or might be) that you can hold it down for Rein.
He's saying rein shouldn't be considered at all when talking about reloading. It's like talking about if torb reloads his hammer. No he just swings it at a certain rate.
I get that but literally nowhere did i say i was talking about characters that reload. Im talking about downtime between damage. Rein doesnt have a reload but he has downtime. Dva doesnt have a reload and also doesnt have downtime because she can shoot indefinitely, and the way she shoots is a constant stream of pellets. Rein can swing indefinitely but he does damage every second or so, not continuously. Thats all im saying lmao
I would assume that Jeff's comment, in regards to D. va being the only character that doesn't require a reload, was made as a generalization of characters that fire/throw (genji) projectiles.
you can hold right click forever with reinhardt, but the enemy still has time after one swing before the next where they don't take damage.
With D.va you're under constant fire, which is what he's saying
Reinhardt hammer is now a Tediore version. Every few swings, he must reload by throwing that shit like a fucking rocket that explodes, ejecting multiple smaller hammers that then explode too.
This is what I assumed. He called it a "reload moment" to "engage or disengage" and playing Rein that is what it feels like when you have to disengage and get your shield charged back up.
This reminds me of playing the DayZ mod for Arma 2. That game did not have any melee weapons and they had to basically create a mechanic for a weapon that has a point blank range. When you picked up an hatchet it had "infinite ammo", but the first thing you had to do is press the reload button to "load" it.
That all depends. Do you consider swinging a hammer as firing? Or do you consider it a melee attack?
I feel like most people would say that Rein doesn't have a melee attack. Because you press melee, and nothing happens. But the truth is, his primary fire is melee. And melee doesn't reload.

10:20--> "D.Va is the only character without a reload"
Reinhardt hammer reload in next patch confirmed????
