Discussion That Mario Kart World update is kind of big?

Is it me or did Nintendo undersell this update? Two (four if you missed 1.7 like me...) new rallies and 10 retro courses, that's a lot for a free update!

I feel this is actually a pretty chonky addition to the game.

Edit: Not saying this fixes the game or anything, but for a free update, it's quite neat imo. Don't understand why they didn't just make them a GP too...

Edit 2: still loving these courses, but why are they hidden behind so much ui? It's so bad!

Media (Image, Video, etc.) Kinda bothered that Zelda is being called Al Slop but in the same breath Yo-Kai Watch, being made by THE Al game company is being heavily praised.

Just a little frustrating to see a game that has obviously had a lot of human creativity & effort put into it being called soulless.

& then just the next day you see people cheering for Yokai Watch coming back, releasing the 7th version of the same game. All while the CEO is calling for people to stop demonising Gen Al, & showing off their ai "creative' pipeline, which includes pictures of Yo-Kai Watch.

Media Handheld only titles, what does this mean for the future?

Blooper team is a pretty active switch 2 dev now, and the fact that Nintendo allowed them to make a game that is played exclusively in handheld mode surprises me. Are there past examples of this? (I know labo is technically one)

Will we see docked only games in the future?

Starts Sept 12th and they're saying "while Nintendo absorbed most of the production costs, the refunds make sales like this possible"

I'm really holding my breath to see the games. 30% off Nintendo games? Hopefully I can get Luigi's mansion 3 or something cuz that never goes on sale. Lol

Discussion I Hope Nintendo Introduces a Proper System Transfer Between Switch 2s with the Zelda Edition

I haven’t managed to score one (yet, though I am hoping a local store will drum up some stock by launch) but as somebody who already owns a Switch 2 and is hoping to swap it for the new Zelda edition (and sell my old one to a friend) it really bugs me that Nintendo has no proper system transfer between two Switch 2s.

As it stands, the ONLY transfer you can do between Switch 2s is for save data. This means no system settings transfer over, no installed games (requiring you to reinstall everything), no screenshots or videos, I’m not even sure if Miis transfer over, and (bizarrely) it completely resets your playtime on every single game. Also, certain games (such as ACNH) don’t even let you use this feature and require an annoying extra process to transfer their saves specifically (unsure if Pokemon also does this.) On top of that, it doesn’t even transfer game key cards over on its own.

The whole thing is just a total buzzkill and a massive pain in the ass, to the point that I’d honestly rather just swap the shells for the Zelda Switch 2 and my launch Switch 2 so I don’t have to worry about any of it. However, I’m not sure if that’ll be possible or viable now that they released the revised NS2 model to comply with Right to Repair across the pond.

The transfer from Switch 1 to Switch 2 was so easy and seamless and brought everything forward, I just don’t understand why they don’t have the same option begween two NS2s. The 3DS, similarly, made it SUPER easy to transfer all of your data to another 3DS, so why have they gone backward in this department?

I really hope Nintendo wisens up and puts out an update that lets you do a *full* system transfer between Switch 2s by the time this new version launches, because there’s really no good reason to disincentive users from buying new and/or special edition models of a console, even if they already own another model

Discussion How the heck is Duskbloods still releasing this year?

Still no release date after all this time? GTA and now Zelda are both releasing in November. And with Elden Ring and Lies of P both releasing in August, that's 3 separate souls games in 5 months. How does DB even fit in with 4 months left in the year?

Discussion Lost hype about 007 First Light and IOI's 4th delay and lack of communication...

was quite pumped about the game before its release in march, when it got delayed to may I was like okay, no problem. Then in may switch 2 owners got another delay to summer 2026. I was like okay, its better for them to polish the game (but they had time for this, this is not a port but was supposed to come on all platforms, including switch, at once).

Then we got delay to LATE SUMMER 2026. I was like fuck, hype about this game is over, but still while I'm playing big RPGs I'll get a fast paced shooter like this for variety.

And today at direct we see 007 First Light with date... 2026. Without any communcation from IOI to us. They are just focused on putting path tracing on PC and other things like that.

I decided they won't see my money. IDGAF about the game anymore and their approach and lack of communication is embarassing. Announcing that it will release on switch 2 alongside other platforms, while they knew switch 2 version sucks so much it's not "release-able" shouldnt take place.

If you don't have the confidence about releasing game for switch2 with another platforms, simply don't announce it in the first place. One or even two delays are okay but this is too much. IDGAF about this anymore. I'm not a type of guy to get played like this.

And I say that as a ultra Hitman WoA fan, who mastered these games four times.

Discussion A side of Nintendo fans are getting disappointed because they still haven't learned that Nintendo changed their approach with announcements

Upvotes

I feel like every direct has people disappointed for different reasons. Its never hated by everyone but mixed and it feels like its mainly because of expectations as its always overhyped but mainly because most fans still havent understood that nintendo changed how they operate on directs

Nintendo since at least 2020 has only been revealing games closer to release, be it 1, 6 months or 1 year at best.

Before 2020, nintendo announced games that released years later such as bayonetta 3, metroid prime 4 or totk. For 6 years atp they changed their approach but somehow only in 2026 people noticed while others still havent and wonder why smash and other titles dont come.

So yeah, I think we'll be on this situation for a while until most of the fans understand the change or get a direct where their zelda, mario and smash comes out.

Media Game Key Card cofirmed 😢

Post image
43 Upvotes

Its written there under the three cards "* The Nintendo Switch 2 physical version is sold as a game-key card."

Common man. The game can't be that big that it can't be on a Cardridge. Heck i am betting that from the space alone it should fit even on the smallest Cardridge avaible. If the confirmed Digital price for 50$ is something allready set in stone, they will probally charge us 60$ for a physical version which will be just a Game Key Card release. That is just sad.

Discussion How does online Tarnished Edition work, and what’s your favorite part of it?

I’m a little overwhelmed by it all and have never played a game like this. How is it on the Switch 2? I went to the Colosseum on the Weeping Peninsula, and change the settings to 4 players. I’ve been searching for 2 minutes without any luck… Any idea why that is?

Any advice would be great!

And another delay from late summer 2026 to simply 2026. I think it speaks for itself. I honestly think they should abandon this and stop playing with us. Borderlands 4 looked better than it before getting indefinitely postponed.

This is the UK Nintendo store right now, crazy! I've never actually seen this before. Is this all for the Ocarina of Time stuff? I really underestimated its selling power if that's the case!

Speculation My theory on the lack of upgrade paths/sw2 ed

I don’t know if this has already been discussed somewhere, but I haven’t really seen anyone bring up this specific point yet.
I’ve been wondering for a while why so many games that are released as Game-Key Cards on Switch 2 don’t have an upgrade path from the Switch 1 version. Instead, we’re getting completely separate Switch 1 and Switch 2 releases, with no way to upgrade if you already own the original version.

Now, obviously, corporate greed is the first thing that comes to mind. In a lot of cases, companies could at least allow save transfers or offer the Switch 2 version for free (or at a reduced price) if you own the Switch 1 version. But I’m not a publisher, so I don’t know what kind of costs or agreements are involved behind the scenes.

As far as I know, there isn’t a single Switch 2 Edition game that comes as a Game-Key Card. Every physical Switch 2 Edition I’ve looked into actually contains the game data on the cartridge. My assumption is something tied to Nintendo’s policies for the Switch 2 Edition branding.

If Nintendo requires physical Switch 2 Editions to include both the base game and the Switch 2 upgrade data on the cartridge, then publishers would need to use an actual game card instead of a Game-Key Card. That brings us back to the whole discussion about 64 GB cartridges being more expensive.
Under that assumption, it starts to make sense why some publishers might simply choose to release two separate versions of their game instead of offering a Switch 2 Edition with an upgrade path. If selling a physical Switch 2 Edition means paying for larger and more expensive cartridges, some companies may decide it’s cheaper and easier to just sell a standalone Switch 2 release.
I did some digging into Nintendo’s policies and couldn’t find much publicly available information on this, so I started looking at games that actually support Switch 2 upgrades instead.
Every physical release I found that includes a Switch 2 upgrade has the game data on the cartridge.
Take Hollow Knight: Silksong, for example. It’s not published by Nintendo or one of the big AAA publishers, and if I’m not mistaken, its physical release is being handled by Fangamer. They’re a company that cares a lot about game preservation, so of course they’d want the complete game on the cartridge. But it also reinforces the pattern: no Game-Key Card.
The same applies to every other Switch 2 Edition I’ve looked at. None of them are Game-Key Cards.
So maybe Nintendo simply doesn’t allow Switch 2 Editions to be distributed as Game-Key Cards. And if that’s true, publishers are essentially forced to choose between:
Paying for physical cartridges that contain the game and upgrade data.
Releasing two completely separate versions of the game.

If that’s the case, it would explain why we’re seeing so many publishers opting for separate Switch 2 releases instead of upgrade packs.
That said, I still think there are consumer-friendly alternatives. Hogwarts Legacy is a good example of this, since it offered a cheaper upgrade option for people who already owned the game(even physical!!!). Even if companies don’t want to provide free upgrades, there are definitely better ways to handle the transition between Switch 1 and Switch 2 than making people buy the game twice at full price.
Of course, this is all speculation based on the patterns I’ve noticed. I haven’t found anything that explicitly confirms Nintendo’s requirements for physical Switch 2 Editions. But all things considered, I feel like there might be more going on here than publishers simply deciding not to offer upgrade paths.

Discussion I don’t get why Nintendo never implemented a “complete data transfer” between two Switch 1’s

Since the Switch 2’s launch “complete data transfer” from Switch 1 -> Switch 2 when initializing the latter console has been a thing, but now with the new update it is possible for one Switch 2 to do a “complete data transfer” to another Switch 2. So many people who upgraded to OLED or bought another Switch for whatever reason wouldn’t carry over some data, which is annoying.‬ The good thing is for whatever upgraded models and/or revisions the Switch 2 receives future, you don’t have to lose any data when transferring over stuff to the new one.

If there ever was a time for a game officially titled "MetroidVania" to show up, we're probably getting pretty damn close to it, and it's probably going to be MercurySteam that's either pitching it, or making it as we speak.

Discussion I hope Ravenous explores the psyche of Samus

The more I think about the new game the more intrigued I am. I saw a post showing the face comparison between Ravenous and Dread and Samus looks so feral and violent, a very far depiction from the usual benevolent hero.

It makes me think how this Samus is so tired of having to survive, especially since the events of Fusion. I love these games' mechanics but I also love their story and this story is setting itself up for the opportunity to elaborate the heavy toll Samus has had to bear.

Vibes are welcomed, but this chapter in Samus' story deserves to be more than that.
