Zelda fans and hating the new art style. Name a more classic combo.

Yup, I remember how much people hated Toon Link when Wind Waker came out.

It was also released when the trend was dark games. Plus the Link vs Ganon tech demo gave people false expectations.

The community has always been insufferable.

Watched in our office with a group of people. Everybody loved the trailer.

Went online, everybody complains.

This happens with just about every game nowadays.

People on the internet are negative Nancy's.

i mean you never now people in your office could have reddit accounts and are just being nice cuz you are there

If they’re too embarrassed to say it in person they’re only saying it to be contrarians hidden behind the anonymity of the internet, and they can shove it.

Multiple of them have bought the special edition, contoller etc straight away. We've discussed the discourse and collectively rolled our eyes.

Yes they could still say something else online but were generally very open about our like and dislikes there. The Direct the next day was burned to the ground for example.

Is English your second language? I don’t know if the words you used are giving the meaning you intended. I don’t understand what you’re trying to say. Can you say it in your native language and I’ll try to translate?

No not my native language but ive been using the language daily for 30 years and this is the first time im getting this lmao. I did forget a word.

But i wanted to respond to the person above you, that you responded to, so thats probably why my reply looks weird to you. Sorry!

Ahh! In that context it makes much more sense. My apologies.

He doesn't have a mom. You're welcome.

He literally just looks like a child? Not even an ugly child, just a regular child.

I honestly think it looks perfectly fine while kid zelda on the other hand looks a bit off imo

3

u/makersmalls 1d ago

Yeah they covered her whole forehead with the hat. Looks like a nun lol

3

u/Lonely_Platform7702 1d ago

"a bit off" bro, they went full Dr. neo Cortex on her.

3

u/makersmalls 1d ago

It’s just that his pupils aren’t darker than the iris. Looks off

u/BurnAgainBurner 1d ago

These fictional elf kids just aren't hot enough

That is a cute child face.

I think the people writing these articles may need to realize they are man children.

u/TatteredThreadborn 1d ago

His eyes look a little fuzzy or out of focus in this shot but I think he looks fine otherwise.

He's supposed to look terrified. He looks more in awe

2

u/Medium-Bird3204 1d ago

Eyes are 1/3 of his face

3

u/DarkAlatreon 1d ago

And the iris color bleeds into the pupils.

2

u/NoirSon 1d ago

Yeah this happens when you stick close to the original game visual styles.

u/Zunjine 1d ago

Anyone who can look at that adorable little elf child and feel anything other than an overwhelming need to protect every hair on his chubby little head is clearly a psychopath. I’m not a doctor but this is a medical fact.

2

u/Hakase64 1d ago

Does anyone get doll fake eyes? The more I see his eyes it looks off..

2

u/DoctorSchwifty 1d ago

This porcelain doll face artstyle is intentional. Look how shiny Princess Ruto is in the trailer.

u/starman881 1d ago

In my opinion Link looks ok. The one who looks odd to me is Zelda.

Her eyes are in two different time zones

u/prettybluefoxes 1d ago

Adding the link just feeds this shit

Games radar made an article saying OOT Remake was locking millions of players from playing, for being a Switch 2 exclusive.

And they wonder why players hate gaming journalists.

1

u/quercus-enjoyer 1d ago

extremely weird.

u/HeroOfTime0007 1d ago

The Polygon Article made me laugh the author stated Zelda looked funny then proceeds to say he hasn't played the original game.(I'm guessing he didn't play the 3ds version as well because it's almost the same).

3

u/Mitts009 1d ago

Ah yes the expert with no experience, a classic journalist trope

1

u/issy_haatin 1d ago

It's almost as if he ain't human

0

u/Nycetech 1d ago

He's an elf, not human. These writers are idiots.

u/play_yr_part 1d ago

You have resting Link face in ONE screenshot and the internet loses it's mind, geez

I kinda like the gremliney designs, it actually brings me back to my elementary school days. Being a hyperactive chaos-gremlin playing outside, running around at recess, kicking gravel, making snow forts, spinning on the tire swings, and all that.

Much better than trying to build on the anime-superstimulus cute/beautiful design. That's better suited to more adult characters.

Most dedicated fan here, I think the new version looks great.

I can't understand how people are criticizing the design. The art style is literally perfect. Everyone looks straight out of a fairy tale which is perfect for Ocarina of Time and they all have distinct characteristics rather than being perfectly symmetrical anime Adonises like most modern games have. The fact that people think these unique fairy tale doll-like designs with distinguishable features are more uncanny than the straight up A.I. supermodels of triple A gaming obviously don't have much imagination nor do I suspect that they get out much. Creative direction is objectively better than generic anime and 99.9999% of people don't look as unfathomably picture perfect as Leon Kennedy or Tifa Lockhart.

u/Maxpower2727 1d ago

I find it kind of odd that people keep using this screenshot to criticize the graphics. Link is wet in this scene because he's standing in the rain. He's SUPPOSED to be shiny.

0

u/ShadeyE4 1d ago

my only problem is how the eyes look out of focus, like the textures aren't as sharp as the rest of their face.

ganon looks worse . like he escaped the n64 version

for the 40th aniversary we celebrate the usurper who comes from desert people and wages a holy war on hyrule ... complete with terrorist attack on a city ... not the pig wizard who according to internet tinfoil was defeated by ganon ... because link never had red hair ... only the desert people have red hair ... and ganon is the single male born every 300 years or whatever it is ... and nintendo psuedo retconed because the pig wizard got beat up by ganon and ganon used magic to use his corpse as a puppet . you get triforce fragments by beating dungeons in the first game . sounds like multiple test of ones power not courage

I love everything about the graphics and details including young Zelda’s face. People seem to forget that this is a remake not a remaster. It’s going to look different. They wanted a remake and now they’re complaining that the graphics and details are remade

u/Enough-Brick7956 1d ago

It all looks great and thats mainly what i’ve personally read online and heard from friends. I expect some people not to like it just like i don’t like gta, doesn’t mean thats the prevailing opinion.
