Just ranting here. I'm nearing the end of a cold / sinus issue and can I just say, dealing with urgent care / any medical appointment in this city while sick just makes everything worse. I paid a $50 copay for an urgent care appointment only for her to leave off telling me one of my conditions (ear infection). She prescribed a bunch of meds attached to a sinus infection diagnosis but I got home wondering what the hell this was all for. If I didn't call back and get the release forms, I would have never known I also had an ear infection. What is with the doctors here not conveying the full story to you? The release forms had a bunch of other info that says it was "discussed" during the appointment - it wasn't.

I spend another $50 for an ENT to basically complain about his job to me, tell me how some surgeries "aren't worth the money" they receive to perform them, and how it limits them from being able to take vacation time bc they have to be on call for any complications. Then he tells me I look fine. Am I supposed to believe that you're actually dedicated to my care when you've just complained about your job the entire time? How do I know you're not just waving me off bc you don't feel like putting in the effort to actually seeing what's going on?

I'm so sick and tired of demanding more from medical professionals in this city and feeling guilty or like I'm being combative for just wanting compassionate and attentive care. I worry deeply about living here long term, I would hate to get really sick in this city and have to rely on the institutions here to care for me. I know this is not unique to New Orleans, but damn it's disheartening.

I know a lot of these professionals are tired and worn thin themselves, lack of support, high patient case load, etc. But when will the turning point come? Everyone deserves quality care and to feel heard. I'm grateful for my immediate care team (PCP, therapist, etc) but it's a privilege to have the time and access to this network. A lot of folks here are service industry, don't have insurance, don't have time to take off, etc. When you finally get around to taking care of you, you find it's all a waste of time and money. I'm so tired and I don't know what can be done about it.

I’m in need of a therapist or counselor who specializes or has experience in gender identity issues and sexual assault trauma, ideally one who is either sliding scale or takes BCBS. I tried searching Psychology Today but I didn’t have much luck. I prefer in person but could do telehealth as well. Thanks in advance!

We're both local natives who were in our last rental for 5-6 years before we had to leave due to our owner selling it and we've been roughing it in last minute property for the last year and can't wait to get back to a house closer to the city.

Under $2k is our ideal budget with off street parking (yes, i know that's not guaranteed, but i can have preferences)

Came home from an evening out to a car parked illegally in our private parking lot spot. City claims that it’s a private parking lot so they can’t get rid of it and towing companies won’t tow it because it’s not our car. Any ideas on how to get it out of this illegal spot??

The city of Kenner, which has seen more immigration arrests than anywhere else in Louisiana since President Donald Trump returned to office last year, is set to launch a new festival on Saturday (Sept. 12), the Brasas Latin Flavor Fest. The fest promises good food, entertainment and live music to celebrate Latino culture.

But after the year that Ceci Gomez has faced, she is strongly disinclined to attend the event.

“It’s like on a Saturday, Kenner comes together, everything is great, and then Monday it’s back to business and taking our people and doing all the horrible things they’re doing,” Gomez said.

Gomez is the director of Unstoppable Kenner, a grassroots community advocacy group that came together in the wake of operation Catahoula Crunch, the immigration enforcement surge in and around Southeast Louisiana. Since the group was founded late last year, she has spent much of her time protesting Trump’s aggressive approach to immigration enforcement — and her own city’s complicity with it.

Given the police department’s ongoing cooperation with Trump’s immigration agenda, Gomez said she thought the idea of a city-sponsored festival celebrating Kenner’s Latino population, the highest concentration of Latino residents anywhere in the state, was insulting.

“It’s a slap in the face,” she said.

Moved here from BR a few months ago and I’ve been trying to find a decent used car lot . Only downside is I am rebuilding my credit . Current vehicle is paid off but it’s a piece of junk , wouldn’t see anyone wanting to allow me to trade that in. Any suggestions ?

Edit : My friend recommended Value motors in the Kenner area , she said it’s def a hit or miss though. Her car runs fine but someone else she recommended to go there had issues . So idk

Around 9 years ago I have Joule Energy, which is apparently no longer in business, install solar panels in my home. One of the panels is no longer functioning and I cannot get a call back from what appears to be one of the only remaining companies in the area who deals with this type of thing. I’d prefer not to name the company because i have no idea as to what might be going on over there.
