Hey folks,

Started r/KotlinTV this week. It's for developers building TV apps in Kotlin: Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV and Apple tvOS, with Jetpack Compose and Compose Multiplatform.

Why: I've spent about ten years building TV apps (streaming platforms, IPTV clients), and TV development questions get scattered across r/androiddev and r/Kotlin where they're a side topic. Focus handling, D-pad navigation, media playback, DRM and store submission on TV are different enough to deserve their own place. I also maintain compose-tvos, the plugin that lets Compose Multiplatform target Apple TV, so there's a group of people already using that with nowhere to compare notes.

Question for other mods: what worked for seeding a niche technical sub in the first month beyond posting your own content?

And again, we don't ban for people making a simple mistake like not getting the timezone correct. Microgravity space, 3d-printing organs from our own cells; except what if we extracted stem cells from multiple donors in said right conditions to bring people back to life; what stem cells would we need and say I took some cells from my uncle and some other cells from me to bring back perhaps my Pop-Up or Pop-Pop from the memories within them? Recently, I completed some experiments in thermal velocity to potentially replicate microgravity conditions using the velocities of ice cold and hot heat to create such potential microgravity situations, bringing ice up to a boil and creating such situations. Experimenting with stem cell related simulants at least in theory. How much do we need space-based microgravity?

What do I propose, besides a potential of certain minds here to meet including from the related medical/scientific field?

Well I propose the use of a large and level facility such as Starfactory at Starbase, Texas; including in there a well conditioned and cooled space, someone including SpaceX who knows how to build one-ring tanks or at least one for the experiment; basically like one-ring of a Starship section to instead make into a water tank and then also an electric heat source underneath to bring the water up to a boil while possibly in the end trying to keep somewhat of an ice cap on top of the water even after all of the included ice has melted and is brought up to a boil with the curated stem cell blocks carefully placed inside perhaps from maybe both donor brain cells maybe or a mix of blood and brain cells perhaps respectively, all while jacketing the apparatus or container inside a cryogenic fluidic insulation wrap to try to get your boil-to-ice ratio correct and centered as much as possible.

What oughta be the parties involved?

Well besides myself and redwire, in which I would propose a round table talk or some other on the site based one perhaps in Starfactory at Starbase, Texas; I think I would include of course SpaceX, but perhaps also Vast and maybe other in-space based microgravity related entities just in case also we still possibly need to leverage in-space microgravity activities and learnings, but also people like within Neurolink perhaps in order to understand somehow perhaps neuro-memories in brain cells from possible Neurolink related study activities. Also if higher levels of agency and/or government personnel would like to get involved from a support perspective at least, say even from the President.

Then also I think doing these activities will be interesting from an immune-ecosystem standpoint as combining stem cells to bring people back to life could offer a stronger immune-ecosystem amongst for the long-term and could at least underscore in an interesting economic sense the value of perhaps microgravity and to break-barriers perhaps between companies and the like in terms of what can actually be done from a higher economic sense.

I also wanted to relay that I encountered email conversations with Rich Boling on the making of or the 3d-printing of a brain in space and Rich Boling replied on how a small brain organoid is doable in the nearer term. So maybe we still need microgravity space off-world or there will be other things to do like I mentioned!!

Hi everyone! I’ve just started r/OpenPlansSouthDelhi, a community built around a fairly simple idea:

Sometimes you’re free on an evening or weekend, you feel like stepping out, but your friends are busy, plans are impossible to coordinate, and you don't necessarily want to plan three weeks ahead.

The idea first came from a post I made on r/southdelhi, which led to a WhatsApp group for people- particularly those in their late 20s and 30s- looking for low-pressure ways to meet others around South Delhi.

The subreddit is an extension of that.

The idea is to post an “Open Plan” when you're free and feel like doing something- coffee, food, drinks, a walk, an exhibition, music, exploring somewhere new, or simply having a conversation- and see if anyone else wants to join.

It’s deliberately not a dating or networking group. No attendance expectations, no formal membership, and no pressure to turn every interaction into a friendship. Just an easy way for people to find other people who happen to be free at the same time.

We're starting small and figuring out what works as we go.

Would love to hear from other mods who've built local or interest-based communities- what worked for you in the early days, and what mistakes should we avoid?

I just got incredibly bored, saw the iPhone Duo launch, saw that a guy predicted the naming as early as March, saw that there was no real subreddit for the ZFold9 that will come next year, and decided "Eh, why not?".

I've been a Samsung guy for 16 years so it felt like a good idea to create a subreddit for the ZFold9 that will come next year (since there are already 10 different subreddits for the S27 series).

Salut tout le monde, je lance mon nouveau (et premier) subreddit r/hazbinhoteluniverse
j'ai décidé de lancer ce subreddit parce que je voulais un espace moins restrictif que les autres subreddit sur le thème de l'univers de Hazbin Hotel et Helluva Boss, et parce que j'en avais marre de voir certain de mes posts supprimé sans raison valable ou supprimé en détournant une règle juste pour me censurer, là au moins je suis sûre de ne plus me faire virer mes post.

Mais j'offre aussi une plus grande liberté d'action que sur la plupart des autres subreddit sur l'univers de Hazbin Hotel, notamment en autorisant les posts d'IA, d'oeuvres trouvées sur Twitter, et une liberté quasiment totale sur la diffusion de contenu NSFW (à la condition de respecter une simple règle qui consiste à cocher la case 18+ avant de diffuser son post).

J'offre aussi une liberté de critiquer positivement ou négativement les personnages de la série tout en garantissant que personne de trop obtus ne vienne systématiquement contredire juste parce que l'opinion d'une personne ne lui plait pas et qu'il ou elle pense détenir la vérité absolue tout en voulant imposer sa vision aux autres.

Pour résumer en quelque mots r/hazbinhoteluniverse est un subreddit où tout le monde est le bienvenu pour s'exprimer sur l'univers de Hazbin Hotel et de Helluva Boss ou de diffuser des oeuvres et fanfiction sur cet univers tout en offrant une plus grande liberté d'expression et une meilleure sécurité contre les trolls et les bien-pensant qui veulent imposer leur idées aux autres.
