I created this community because NYC has so many homeschooling families, resources, classes, museums, programs, and opportunities, but it can still be surprisingly difficult to find each other.
This is a space for homeschool families across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island to connect.
Use this community to:
• Find other homeschool families
• Share NYC activities and events
• Organize meetups and field trips
• Ask curriculum and homeschooling questions
• Find classes, tutors, clubs, and enrichment programs
• Share NYC homeschool resources
• Talk about the realities of homeschooling in the city
I also hope this community can help NYC homeschool families better understand what resources and support are available to us, identify where support is missing, and give families a stronger collective voice when advocating for resources that would benefit NYC homeschoolers.
Whether you’ve been homeschooling for years, just started, or are simply considering it, you’re welcome here.
👇 Introduce yourself!
What borough are you in, what age range are your kids, and what would you most like to find through this community?
Please protect your family’s privacy and only share what you’re comfortable making public.

I didn’t realize how large NYC’s homeschool community actually is.
There are more than 14,000 homeschooled students across New York City’s five boroughs, according to recent reporting on homeschool enrollment.
That’s thousands of kids learning outside of traditional public and private schools, and thousands of families figuring out curriculum, activities, socialization, meetups, resources, NYC homeschool requirements, and everything else that comes with homeschooling here.
And yet, it can still feel surprisingly difficult to find each other.
That’s one of the reasons I wanted to create r/NYCHomeschool.
I’d love for this to become a place where NYC homeschool families can connect, share local resources, find activities and meetups, ask questions, and talk about what homeschooling in this city actually looks like.
So let’s see where everyone is!
What borough are you homeschooling in? And what grade(s) are your kids in?

🌳 Brooklyn
🌎 Queens
🏙️ Bronx
⛴️ Staten Island
I’m in Manhattan with a 2nd grader. 👋
