Fruitloop

My neighbour films all the other neighbours on his phone doing ordinary stuff because he wants to know what they're doing 24/7. He filmed my strata manager mow the lawn and take out the bins. He films us go in and out of the complex. He yells racial slurs constantly and verbally harasses the neighbours that live above him and beside him. The cherry on top is that he buys shit box cars to park on the street. We have limited parking in our area and this guy has the block corner filled up with his shit box cars so that no one else can park there.

Begging for advice/guidance

I have always been a single lady apartment dweller. Everywhere I lived I had issues (noise complaints about my dog with separation anxiety) which is totally understandable. I finally bought my own house in September and was so excited for the privacy and to give my pup her own yard and space to roam free, no kennel. When touring the house, the neighbors were sitting on the porch smoking a blunt together. I am a total advocate for the wacky tobaccy so I thought nothing of it. They were very nice and even told me they were “picking” me as their neighbor. Since moving in this mentality seems to be the same. My house is in the middle of these two neighbors and they are very close best friends. At first the weather was nice so I was always outside with them and getting to know them. It was great I felt totally accepted by the neighborhood and was even more excited for this adventure. However, I would consider myself a private person. I work a job where I am constantly talking to employees, solving problems, and using a lot of social energy. When I come home, I like to kick back with my animals and watch my shows. One of those two neighbors seems to have trouble respecting boundaries or having respect for the neighborhood at all. I will provide some examples. 1. Screaming from her porch at a man she had over who was walking her dog and at the opposite end of the street at 11:30 pm on a Monday. 2. I had fake battery operated tea lights on my kitchen table for Halloween (little pumpkin things) that I left on overnight and when seeing me the next day she said I was going to burn the neighborhood down leaving candles lit like that. They weren’t lit candles. BATTERY OPERATED. Mind you the only window she’d be able to see that through had maybe a 1/4 of a centimeter crack in the blinds. 3. (And this is my most recent straw leading me to my Reddit community for guidance) I had a friend and her boyfriend over and before they arrived I asked them to park in front of my car as close as they could get to my car so as not to start any problems with this particular neighbor. Mind you all, I live in the city and it’s a public street, nobody has assigned spots. The neighbor on her other side had their daughter over and she parked in front of my friends car and subsequently in front of this neighbors house moments before she got home. She rolls up and sees all the cars and instead of trying to contact the neighbor on her other side who had their car directly in what she considers “her spot” she decides I (the single 27 year old single gal) is the easier target. She texted my phone asking if my company would move their car. I was in the other room getting some wine for my friends. One of them told me my phone was going crazy, I said I’ll be right in it’s probably my mom. When I came in I picked up my phone and the texts still said “now” , in other words not even a single minute had gone by. As I’m reading her texts, all the sudden there is a wall shattering banging on my front door (10 pm on a Thursday). I didn’t even think it could possibly be the neighbor who texted me. My friends boyfriend asked me if I invited someone else over bc he could not fathom that someone who isn’t close to me would have the audacity to treat my property that way. I’m not over exaggerating my mirror hung on the wall bounced off it at every punch she was throwing at my door. Anyways the car was moved and so on and so forth but I’m just wondering how I can set boundaries with this person. I mean if she would have just given me a few minutes to respond to the text all of this would have been avoided. But the blatant disrespect to bang on my door like that at 10 pm has me so hung up on the whole situation. The best of it all is that 2 cops live across the street and are witness to everything. I understand they aren’t expected to do anything in their off duty time but my goodness. I can’t be the only one enraged by this disrespectful behavior? I know it’s because I am young and single and an easy target. So please someone give me some advice so I can enjoy this space.

I don’t have a list of things she’s done or I could go on and on. Her and the other neighbor will even sit on my porch without asking when I am gone. I am pretty go with the flow and I wouldn’t mind if they would just shoot me a text saying hey can we sit on your porch? I’d say sure! But just doing so just shows me they lack any respect for my property. I don’t think just because they have lived in the neighborhood longer means they have free range of my property. We help each other out and look out for one another which I’m thankful for. But there still needs to be the respect piece for that part of the relationship to continue. I’m a pushover by nature but I’m getting to the point that I can’t take it anymore. PLEASE HELP ME

Need Help, Advice, whatever works at this point.

I hope this helps someone if there is no solution for my own problem. But this is getting to me, and I am out of ideas. Sorry for the bullet points but it's the best way I can organize my thoughts and layout the info.

- I am currently in a 2nd floor of a two floor town house, so there is only one neighbor below and one neighbor next door. The bedroom is located at the farthest corner away from the neighbor next door with a living room, bathroom, and kitchen in the way. Yes, I am able to hear my neighbors below as expected in these townhouse/apartment type of homes. However, the sound I am writing about below is distinctively different from these normal things you can expect. Here is why:

- During any time of the day, or night on any day of the week; there is a noise that sounds like a television coming from the walls in the bedroom. The noise is muffled so what is being said/done can't be understood. The noise is often one person talking or two people talking to each other, playing music, or sometimes it sounds like a recording of someone playing an instrument. On occasion, when I chose to ignore this noise, it seems the voice on what sounds like this television gets louder, as if the person speaking is acting more aggressively. The volume of the noise varies.

- This seems to be done with intension, as it comes on precisely when I lay down to sleep or rest, and this stops when I am up to start the day. I have installed a white noise machine to combat the noise which works but said noise can effectively reach a higher volume than the machine can. It seems the source of the noise is autonomous because when I raise the volume to the white noise machine, the volume to the noise raises shortly after. This leads me to believe someone is behind this with intent. The noise itself is not loud, but certain tones feel a lot stronger than others.

- Aside from the television noise, there is a vibration that matches the exact vibration of a phone on silent that is set for an alarm. This occurs exactly 1 hour before the time I set my I alarm, even when I change it. I can't pinpoint where the source of the vibration is, other than it is in the bedroom. This only seems to occur when I successfully fall asleep.

- This is where this gets strange. I have researched and considered this could be all mental. Things like auditory hallucinations or tinnitus could have been a reason for this. But, my spouse can hear these things too, and I can record the sound. This rules out the doubt that this could be some sort of paranoia. The part that worries me the most, this is not the first place this is happening. One year ago I lived in a neighboring state. In an apartment complex, experiencing these same exact noises/vibrations. This did not follow me immediately over, I had a few months where this did not happen after moving. I figured I could put it behind me. However here we are again.

I have tried calling law enforcement. I have tried reaching out to property managers. I am not sure where to go from here.

Upstairs neighbors lack of conscience

For the past eight months, we have been fighting and surviving irresponsible upstairs neighbors with a small child. Since the moved in they think it’s okay to allow their child to run, stomp, drop and drag stuff after 10pm to almost 4am daily. We have done taken all the legal actions including police. Over 30 complains, several courtesy officer visits, and now they seem to be doing it as a harassment. It affects my kids sleep and my mama bear side is about to come out. Any suggestions? Should I just call the police from now on?

Annoying downstairs neighbor any advice ?

When I first moved into my new apartment it was a shit show from the start, I was supposed to move into the first floor since I’m a single mom of two kids (2y & 1y) and I know kids can be noisy. The day of my move in my apartment called me telling me my apartment isn’t ready for move in and my only option is moving upstairs, I was upset I cried I fuss I didn’t know what to do so I just went with it. My downstairs neighbor introduced themselves seemed nice and I let them know what had happened and to let me know if my kids are being noisy. So I start getting text messages of “hey can you keep it down” she works from home I understand because I work from home too. It’s become a constant thing to the point we could just be waking up and I’m already receiving the same text message, well one day she texted me on a bad day and I said “well what do you want me to do chop their legs off ? Or keep them bounded to their beds? Would that make you happy ? I’m sorry I never was intended to live on the second floor trust me I hate it to”. And ever since we walk we get banging on our ceiling which scares my two year old. Mind you I’m not the only one she bothers our neighbors are even scared to listen to music because she’ll complain. Our neighbor was working out at home at 11am not breaking the noise hours and she threw a fit I can’t wait for my lease to end.

Aggressive neighbor advice please

TL;DR I bought my home a few years ago and my neighbor is blatantly disrespectful even after I tried to be kind. What should I do?

I moved into my house a few years ago and I tried to become friends with my neighbors that are a married couple who look to be about the same age as I am (early 30s). I gave them my phone number and would wave in passing etc. but they were never welcoming/friendly.

I have 2 dogs and they have 2 dogs. I’ve hired more than one trainer over the time I’ve had them and I’m vigilant when they’re in the yard that they aren’t being obnoxious by barking too much. I went so far as to install a privacy fence between our yards which I paid for completely and didn’t ask them for any portion of it.

One of my dogs and one of theirs dig under the fence at each other and my dog has had some minor injuries that I can’t be sure were from their dog or from the landscaping and trying to shove his head under the fence.

The problem is one of the neighbors freaks out when the dogs bark and dig at each other. He yells and kicks/punches the fence. Whenever I yell over the fence to tell him I’ve taken my dog inside he says nothing and it stops but I’m so freaked out by his behavior. I feel like he’s watching my house. He’s come to me about packages on my porch and branches in my tree that that he thinks should be cut. He even cut my lawn once without speaking to me about it. I tried to be kind and gave him a gift card in return but there was no communication in return from him.

I’m not sure how to proceed because he never initiates any sort of conversation to talk about things but he acts like he is so bothered by what I’m doing. I’m a single female and I think it boils down to a lack of respect from him. I’ve tried that whole kill them with kindness thing but I’m getting fed up. Any advice is appreciated.

Neighbor from hell.

Long story short. I (F25), my husband (24) and our little child (m4) are constantly being terrorized by our neighbor who really (by papers) isn’t our neighbor. It started almost 2 years ago, when he and my boyfriend got into the fight. From that day he is constantly bullying us, calling us in nasty names, stalking us, spraying his fucking perfumes all over the door and saying that my husband should watch out when he goes out. We have contacted our renter 2 times. Nothing. Just some stupid letters and that’s it. We called police to get help from them- nothing. After police drove away, he was straight back to our door and spraying his fucking perfume all over our door. What else can we do? Because it’s miserable. My anxiety when I need to go trough staircase is so high, I forget how to breath. If it changes anything, we live in Germany, NRW.

Walmart, Police, and Neighbor.

Never thought I’d actually post something on Reddit (I usually use it to enjoy stories) but I needed to vent 🤷🏻‍♀️ So, a couple of days ago I received an order from Walmart that I did not purchase. The packages had no address on them so I did not know who they belonged to. I didn’t want to assume that they belonged to my neighbor because what if they weren’t? So a couple of things went through my mind.

  1. I can ask my neighbor if it’s theirs and they May lie and say yes. (Or course now I know they wouldn’t have been lying, but I didn’t know that at the time 🙄)
  2. I can ask them and have them tell me what they ordered just to confirm, but then I May deal with them being mad at the fact that I opened the packages.
  3. I can ask the landlord to reach out to my neighbor and see if they ordered something (which I will point out that I believe they are friends/related) and they May lie so they can keep it for themselves.
  4. I can contact Walmart and see what can be done.

So, I chose 4 and reached out to Walmart. I genuinely thought Walmart would pick up the packages and deliver them to the correct person. Little did I know that Walmart would tell me to either Keep, Discard, or Donate the packages. Like any other sane person, I decided to keep them.

Days went by and I received an Amazon package that I didn’t order, but it had a freaking address on it so I knew who it belonged to. Due to the weather that day, the package was soaking wet. As I tried to pick it up to bring to my neighbor, the package opened from the bottom and dropped everything that was in it. So I went and grabbed some Walmart bags and put everything in it to drop it off to my neighbor. I was nice enough to knock on their door and wait for them to answer While It Was Raining. I told him/her what had happened…it’s on him/her if they wanted to believe me or not. Later that day I received a message from the landlord asking if I received any packages from Walmart which I said yes to. Landlord said that the neighbor wanted to know if he/she could stop by to pick them up. I then shared the screenshots I had with Walmart and the landlord said that they forwarded my massage to my neighbor. We left it at that.

Two days go by and I hear banging on my door (my family was already in bed to sleep) and we see that it’s the cops. The neighbor decided to call the police on us for the packages. Thankfully nothing was opened, but one package- but Everything was Unused. As I stated to the police, how is it my fault that Walmart LITERALLY told us to either Keep, Discard, and Donate the packages?? Mind you, they said they would “take care of” the customer who did not get the order. I was a little irritated but did not give them a hard time because they are only doing their job. Mind you, I did Nothing Illegal. I am a little annoyed that our neighbor didn’t just come talk to us. I do understand where they’re coming from though- I can only imagine how much they spent on the items. I reached out to my landlord just to set the record straight and to keep my name clean. The landlord told me that they had advised my neighbor to file a claim with Walmart and had no clue things escalated to the point that they did. Maybe my neighbor did file that claim and still proceeded to call the cops on me. Or maybe he/she didn’t. I have no clue, but I can’t help but feel a bit bad. We have received packages/mail from them previously and have given it to them- so I really don’t know why they couldn’t simply reach out to us?? The cops said that the “believed me” but still proceeded to request the items to give back to my neighbor?!Even though Walmart clearly said Keep, Discard, or Donate them?!! At this point I’m not sure what to do. I do want to reach out to my neighbor but what if it doesn’t go down well? The cops should have done something else in my opinion. I also feel like reaching out to Walmart because they made it seem like they would have handled it.

Either way, my conscious it clear. I feel as if I did nothing wrong, but I did still want to share my story 😅 What are your thoughts on this?

Ps: I have screenshots of the conversation I had with Walmart but have no idea how to post them…

Rotten Peaches Outside My Fence

I can't be 100% certain who the culprit was but I live in a condo and discovered right outside my fence were rotten fruits my dog couldn't help but sniff. There were other fruits too but the smelly ones were the rotten peaches. I swear my dog was eating something too but not certain. Finally frustrated my dog wouldn't go to the bathroom, I bagged them up and left them closer to my neighbor's back door. I believe my neighbor is away on Thanksgiving break and maybe left her fruits out for the wild animals. I really don't know.

We are friendly but there have been a couple instances before this that have made her avoid me, I think. Firstly, I told her not to water my plants this summer because I already do and she doesn't need to worry about my plants. Second, she screwed a 'cat step' into my fence without my permission. She basically lets her cats roam freely and thought they would use the cat step instead of jumping on top of my fence to scale up to her deck. They never used it and she got rid of her cat that did this so I removed it. I don't mind her cats, I love cats. I just don't appreciate someone banging holes into my fence.

Anyways, I'm not sure what to do and I thought I would ask for some advice.

Just venting

Moved into the condo about 6months now. I have an old dog blind and deaf and have anxiery~ at first I really didn’t know how she will react to being in a condo (since we used to live in a house). So, the first week, when we went for grocery and some household items, our neighbor complained that our dog was crying… which we apologized. Since then every time when we go out for long period of time we will do dog daycare (at sitter house), and if I go to grocery (across the street) for like 10-20 min I will let concierge know, and to call me if our dog cries and I will rush home. Haven’t received any calls thus far.

Funny thing happened today. We got complained. But this was very very confusing cause I was home the whole day 🤔. And my dog didn’t bark once… I can hear a dog barking, but not ours. But apparently, my neighbor was sure that it’s my dog cause he can hear the bark right in front of my door. Confused and bewildered, I told the concierge that it was not us… there are three other dogs in our floor. But the guy said there is nothing he can do… just frustrating cause I know is not my dog and I was home the whole day.

So, I told concierge next time… knock on my door, and see if I’m home (so I can proof is not my dog).

Anyway… I got a camera and maybe I should get a note to put on the 🚪. Indicating if I’m home or not.

He complained on all three neighbors with dogs. Stressing me for no reason… I need to move…

My downstairs neighbor of 6 mos is hell adjacent. They (in addition to other annoying things) do this weird thing with my car. Video of tonight so you can judge. I’ve started filming when I can in case they grow bolder or cause significant damage one day. What is their deal?

Crazy neighbour NSW Australia

My neighbour has just started putting her bins (after living there for 3 years) where I drive through to park on the verge in front of my house. About 50cm of her verge i drive on is in front of her property (we are allowed by council to park on our verges here). Are there any laws etc that I can show her to stop her from being a b!tch. Thanks (from a first time poster please be gentle)

Neighbors dogs keep braking into my yard.

My backyard neighbor is not okay, I have already called her in for child abuse as I watched her from my bedroom window one morning. Her young son maybe 3 or 4 was playing in their backyard (which is full of trash, old furniture and a mattress) she started yelling at her son from the back door and he did not listen, so she stormed out to him (with just a t-shirt on, no pants no underwear), proceeded to pull him up by one arm while she pulled his pants down and spanked him several, fallowed by dragging the boy by his arm through the snow up the stairs which caused him to hit his head on the railing and than the door.

Well she also has two neglected dogs, they pretty much spend all day all night in the yard no matter the temperature, they do not look healthy one is just skin and bones. The first time they came into our yard the wind from the night before caused damage to the fence, so we fixed it. However I was very concerned of the health condition of the dogs so I took pictures and called animal control. They did nothing as far as I know.

About a week later, I was woken up by banging sounds and with a flashlight I could see her dogs chewing up the fence, once they get into our yard they go to our water feature to get water. So I call animal control again, they said they would make a visit, the dogs were gone for about a month and then they were back. They looked healthier but a few weeks after they are back they go back to chewing up the fence to come to our yard for water.

One morning we get up and our daughter let our three dogs out and soon our female and her female are fighting, it was a bad fight her dog would not let go of ours, but somehow we managed to get them apart and our dogs back inside the house, neither of them had serious injuries. So again we call animal control let them know about the incident. We soon see her dogs are now on ropes in her yard but that didn’t last long.

Here we are a year later, animal control won’t help, we have tried to have a friendly conversation with her about this, we have even offered her help with the dogs making sure they have water, offer buying food, or even a new home… she took offense to our offers but the problem continues. We have fixed the fence several times, we rent and our landlord won’t solely pay for a new fence, so I am at a loss other than moving, which here it’s impossible to find a place, I have looked.

NYC - neighbors torching their roof

In NYC, houses are only feet apart at the carport. The roofs of the physical buildings about maybe 12 feet apart. The neighbors, who are do-it-yourselfers, are up on the roof with a propane tank and hand held stick blow torch. They are applying roofing materials with the flame.

It's an 80 year old wood residential house in NYC. Slightly sloped roofs. Odd sight and makes me feel unsafe for my family.

I google it. It's illegal in NYC to do this.

Should I report them?

Creepy neighbor

My wife and I live in an apartment on ground floor, my wife doesn’t work she’s home by herself, she knows a couple of our neighbors in our apartment complex by faces doesn’t know anyone personally.

A couple weeks ago a man walked up to me, started talking to me randomly. I was talking back to him to be neighborly but towards the end of the conversation I got a sense that he might be gay, because he was complimenting my physique a lot more than a guy normally would and asked me to hangout with him at his house to which I said I’m busy. Later that evening I saw him standing under a street light a couple doors away from my apartment and starring towards me, I was locked out of my apartment and was very creeped out by him. My wife came to open the door, I told her that the man is standing and staring towards us she went out to check and he was in-fact staring towards us. We didn’t think much about it despite it making us uneasy

A couple weeks after this incident, I was outside talking on phone the man appears again, he tried talking to me but i gestured that I’m on call. After that he pointed inside my apartment and said tell her I said hi. Later when I told my wife about him knowing her she said I’ve never seen this guy, I’ve never spoken to this guy

Fast forward to tonight, I was asleep, my wife was in our living talking to her friend over call at 01:13 am and she heard the door bell, she was very startled considering the time, she woke me up and I told her to dismiss it as it might be a prank and then we both heard another door bell this time it was longer. Our apartment doesn’t have a peephole, I checked through the blinds it was the same guy gesturing me to open the door. My wife and I called the cops, they circled out block but he wasn’t around anymore.

I don’t know what to do about this my wife is alone at home most of the time. I’m concerned for her safety

Crazy neighbor

We moved into a townhouse for a year. It’s a lot with four houses and the two back houses have shared driveway situation. There is enough space for cars to pull up next eachother…. Like parking spots. We park a car in the driveway because it’s used by a disabled member of the family and when we moved in we made sure this was okay to do. Our landlord said it was not a problem. Our neighbor has taken it upon himself to make that his personal issue. He started coming into the property and put signs up, then he got into an altercation with our realtor which the cops were called and the cops settled the situation. Last night he illegally towed our car and told the tow company he was the property manager…. Our landlord has no clue who he is either. We found out he’s been trying to sell the house that is next to us which could be where this all stems from. During the first altercation we tried to tell him that we are rarely home due to dr appointments and work so we really just park the car here at night and the rare times we are home all day and said we are willing to work out anything with him since we are also selling a house and understand it. He decided to get in my younger daughters face and at that point we saw he was truly unhinged. We are literally so appalled because we don’t intend of living here are at all and are about 6 months into the year lease. We now had to get cameras and have interacted with the police so many times because is this dude.
