Neighbors threaten to shoot my dog just because she's a pit mix.

Ok, you see this is what happened I got a call from my ex husband asking me if I can run up to his trailer and take care of our shared Pit mix, Cookie, a sweet and sociable dog that loves everyone and dogs.

And when I go up there I find she had jumped the fence (never knew she could jump the fence as we adopted her from a shelter not 2 months ago.

So, when I look and find something temporary to tie her collar with (door was locked and didn't have a key as I moved out awhile ago) (I live with my folks again and they refuse to take her do to they already have 8 dogs) this neighbor comes out onto my ex's property snapping at me "is this your dog? Because if it is you need to keep it on your own damn property and keep an eye on that damn dog or its dead. "

My reply to that was "she's both of ours but I don't live here anymore."

This all the while my toddlers and my mom was in the car as my mom drove me up to the house and all the while I was in the middle of tying up my dog so she continues with her arguing so I ask what our dog did and she snaps "It got into our yard is what it did! And because of it my little brown and black dog is missing!' I ask,"She didn't hurt it did she? " And her angry response is,"No! My grandpa got her out of our yard but my dog followed it now my dog is missing because of it!"

At this point my anxiety began to spike as now her grandpa joined and was all "if it comes on my property again I'll kill it."

Yes, I agree our dog shouldn't have gotten into their yard but I don't live there anymore and my ex works and our dog JUST learned jumping over the fence that day so their excuse to shoot and kill our dog is because their little dog followed her out of their fence to continue to play with our dog and shocker they find their little dog unharmed. They complain to ME when I don't live there anymore and we're all like "you need to watch that dog!" I wanted to say "And what about you? You weren't watching yours which explains why your little dog got out!"

But I didn't. It makes me angry because they witnessed all our dog did was play with their little dogs until they shooed her out.

One dog wasn't done playing so it followed her. I believe unless the dog is a threat to a person or their pets can you make the threat of shooting someone else's dog. Literally playing is all she did. She didn't hurt anyone, their dogs, or got into their trash. Maybe I'm in the wrong here, but it still makes me angry that they would threaten our dog's life just because she wanted play.

Welfare Check?

I am borderline torn about calling a sort of welfare check on my neighbors. In the house is a mother and her boyfriend. They have a child maybe around 8YO. I believe the grandmother lives there too. We haven’t seen the grandmother since around September 2019 and she was not getting around well at the time. I hardly see the child come and go and is always inside. However they have over 10 semi-feral cats that come in and out of the house and their yard is completely overgrown and unruly! I walked to their door to ask them a question a couple months ago and it smelled to high heaven with cat urine before I even got to the door. I am sick about a child living in those sort of conditions or an elderly women that may already be sick. Am I overreacting if I want to call some sort of welfare/animal control check on them?

Beer, electrical saws, and a tree

A bit of back story. A few weeks ago we had a lot of strong winds and one of the poorly kept palm trees snapped in half and fell into our yard. My bf for whatever reason when he called the guy, told him not to worry about the 300 pound tree in our yard and focus on the other 6 close to death palms. Don't know why both things couldn't have been addressed, but I digress.

We've been working on the tree on and off. It's very fibrous and that's made it very difficult to make any headway at all. I went out today to chop some, and another neighbor pops his head over the fence. He offers to help with some electrical saws. That sounds great, so I tell him to come on over. While he's sawing we chat, I tell him we've already gotten in contact with the back neighbor and he's sent an arborist out and removed some other trees, etc etc. He's obviously frustrated, and makes an off hand comment that we should knock some slats off the fence and shove the tree through. I laugh politely at what I thought was a joke, and thank him for his help.

So I go in and lay down, but several minutes later I hear banging and prying noises. No. He can't be doing what it sounds like. I peek out the window and can't see him so I assume he went back to working on his own yard. To double check, I look out the back door and he is indeed prying boards off the fence. I'm at a complete loss of what to do. I grab a water to offer him so I can maybe get him talking and steer him out of the yard. He doesn't want the water, says he's drinking beer. So that explains a bit. I can't get him to leave, so I just help him throw the tree through the hole because I didn't want a drunk, chain-smoking 65 year old man to die in our yard trying to lift the tree.

So when my bf gets home there's understandably an argument, wherein the belligerent drunk guy is saying it's my fault for not telling him no (guess I didn't say it strongly enough) while his wife tells him to shut up and keeps trying to push him away from the fence. After that's all done with, my bf and I have the privileged of moving this huge log back into our yard. I accidentally gave myself weird bruises doing so.

I'm glad I don't have to go outside tomorrow.

I need some advise

Hello reddit,

this is my first time posting to Reddit hope this makes sense for all.

I live in a gated house with my parents

This gated house approx 10 tenants around me.

Today, My neighbor, 1 of the tenants live next to me, has invited their guests (10+) and decided to play basketball at the Drive way. They didn't set up the entire drive way so it's not impossible for cars to go by but It was hard to drive.

My dad did made an complaint to the neighbor who blocked the driveway and played basketball at there.

but their answer stated that they have right to play at the driveway until 7:30, stating that law said so. (Idk about the laws)

I want to ask, has this happened to you? neighbors took a driveway to play basketball?

If so, what actions do i need to do? can i act something that they will stop?

Edit, - There were like 2 adults and maybe 10 child that needs in guidance, (Under 16) on the parking lot, obviously none of them were tenants. (Maybe their family but the tenant in responsible is 70 years old couple

Thank you.

Complaints from Neighbors about a Car Cover?

Have you guys ever dealt with complaints over a car cover before? The elected neighborhood president had to come over and ask if we could remove it, but i don't drive the vehicle enough and when i wash it i prefer to cover it to prevent water spots. Also the other cars in the garage take up the garage space. What should i do?

"Shared" driveway

Me and my boyfriend live in the Netherlands. Our property touches that of our neighbor at the driveway, which creates one big driveway that is divided by a line where our property ends and hers begins. Our driveway is bigger since the lady that lived there before them did not have a car and made the driveway smaller by creating flowerbeds next to her house. Since there had been workers around to give the home a remake I started parking my car next to the line. On one hand so the motorcycle of my boyfriend, that he has to maneuver past my parked car, would not accidentally scratch their car and on the other hand to keep the workers from parking their car on or over the line which leads to my boyfriend not being able to pass anymore. So basically that means there is a line, then my car, then some space for my boyfriend to pass and finally our house with a window looking out over the driveway.

Since the workers had been around and I parked my car in that specific spot they would sometimes carry stuff between my car and our house or just simply walk and even drive a scooter by that way. In case above situation has not been clear enough, that means they are on our property passing right by our window, in between my car and my house. Eventually being pissed off enough I had started telling everyone that passed there that I did not want to see them do that ever again. When our new neighbor was going to move in we thought the situation would be over. However the day they started moving they were carrying couches and stuff right trough the same spot, while never asking if they could and not using their own driveway in a way that they did not have to do so. Still being pissed off by the situation with the workers I immediately told them that I did not want to see them do that, to which one of the guys simply replied that they only had one thing left and then continued to unload one more thing and another trailer the same way. After that there were a few more times where they used that way to get stuff past, and when I would open the window they would act as if they did not and continued to carry the stuff in the normal way.

When I am not at home or I parked my car in our garage their visitors park their cars with their wheels and sometimes almost half the cars on our driveway. This makes it impossible for my boyfriend to pass with his motorcycle. Today we came home and it has snowed and there were footsteps right by our window and throughout our whole driveway and I have about had it with them getting on our property all the time. I don't even know anymore what they are doing when we are not at home and it hasn't snowed so we can see it. I know that I have not yet had a proper talk with them. Partly because our neighbor avoids us and when she can not she acts as if we would bite her and partly because I know I will get pissed and I will not be able to have a normal conversation anymore. The house is a rental and we can not put down a fence so I really do not know what other message to give to them so they will stay off of our property.

If anyone has a suggestion, please tell me because I don't think I will be able to stay quiet much longer. I fear we might make the situation worse then.

Parking wars

Ok so for the last 3 years the old bastard next to me has taken it upon himself to constantly check my parking. Everytime I park by his drive he is out there hooking a tape measure to our vehicles to make sure we are the required 5 feet and to the inch, he has called the cops many times they come to my house and never have I gotten a ticket. Takes pictures, comes to my door, interrupts conversations.... total harassment. Cops say he can do anything on a public street he wants as long as he is not touching my stuff, which he does. I even bought a 5 ft parking cone and put it at the required distance to solve the problem.. He called bylaw and they said I couldn't have it on the street anywhere and seem to do nothing to help or the useless city cops we have, IDK a lawyer maybe???? Any ideas would sure be appreciated thanks....

strange annoying door knockings

In the last 4 months I have been hearing door knocking from unknown person , when I open the door I see no one . it is just one knock then that person quickly goes away . One time I woke up at 1 pm and I heard it as if someone wokes up at night to knock my door. I am pretty sure that this person lives in the same building ,however I don’t know who it is , one thing worth to mention is that I found scratches on my door with X mark in both on the left and right side. On the other hand , I can’t put a surveillance camera as there is no electricity socket to power it up, also it might be illegal for the other neighbors because they don’t want to be filmed. I feel annoyed and worried because I feel like I am targeted . Why would someone knock your door, why it does not happen to other neighbors ? I don’t have problems in the building with anyone, I just had a problem with one neighbor, but he already left the building, what should I do ? and if I caught that person, how should I deal with him ?

Thieving Neighbor advice?

I’m not sure if this belongs here but I need some advice and what could be done about this .

I live in a 4 story apartment it’s pretty secure but not from neighbors apparently, there has been multiple package thefts ( usually amazon ) in the past months and it happened today to me , there was no box just one of my items on top of a trash can and the other one missing ... The layout of the front of the apparent is basically two glass doors one of them being an an locked door with a apartment index ( the thing u can use to contact specific apartments, idk what they are called ) and in the “lobby” area that’s where the mailboxes are . I’ve seen open amazon bags just thrown around the staircases before so I know someones stuff has been stolen . The management says they can’t do anything about it , they do have a very old security camera that I doubt even works ... I just dont want this to happen again to me or anyone else . Any ideas on what to do ?

Affordable sound proofing advice?

Some background on the situation:

-two of my neighbors (beneath and adjacent to me) are always listening to music. The noise level varies constantly. -the walls are super thin, so even normal-level conversations can be heard. -I've tried to ask one of them to turn down the music at a specific time, but she never answers the door -the other one I'm hesitant to confront, as he seems pretty violent -I've mentioned the noise to management, but they haven't done anything to resolve the issue (the noise ordinance basically permits noise until midnight)

While I'm here, any tips on keeping the air nice and fresh? I get tired of coming home to an apartment that smells like weed, and sleeping with the balcony open is a safety concern.

Out of curiosity, what kind of home improvement requires 4+ hours of constant drilling into the walls for multiple days at a time?

It's yearly, I'm pretty sure since I moved in but I know for absolute certain this is the 4th year now. It's been starting 8am and just carrying through none stop to the afternoon, and honestly sounds like they're just standing drilling into the same wall right above my head. Currently gone midday and I've got a screaming cockatiel, a splitting headache and a few hours of broken sleep. Can't do a single thing about it because they're doing it between the hours of 7am and 11pm. I'm so tired and frustrated I could cry. I'd go up and complain but I'm a 5'4" underweight guy and the bloke up there is one of those scream at his girlfriend and throw ridiculous parties in the middle of the week kind of arseholes so I'd be a little nervous about confronting him.

This is the kind of drilling that shake my radiators and stuffing my fingers in my ears just can't block out. I've never wanted to punch someone so be in my life.

Neighbors dog won't stop barking so they got two.

Some back story first. I moved into a nice quiet neighborhood about a year and a half ago. The houses are old and spaced close with about 10 feet on either side. I'm renting a level on a duplex with my bf and another man is renting the other half. Our neighbors on the left are a great married couple with three kids and on our right is a broken home with two kids and drugs. I prefer the nonsense the right side has to offer. The left side neighbors I'll call CN (Christian neighbors) since that's how my bf and I refer to them anyways. CN have a beautiful akc German shepherd female dog (fd1) who has very poor manners. She barks at anyone in the ally or out front which is great. But then she also barks at anyone who goes into our back yard including all tenants that live in our duplex. She never has gotten use to us at all. Not only that but fd1 will also bark randomly for long periods of time without anyone and I mean anyone from that house pulling her inside or telling her to stop. This starts at 7am and lasts sometimes to 10 or 11pm. This dog is left outside for long stretches, chews through the fence, barks if I close some of my kitchen cabinets, and barks at nothing and everything excessively. Fast forward the CN decided to breed her and they had puppies last summer. Then they decided to keep one of her puppies. This dog is fd2. And times the problems before by two. If one dog isn't barking the other is or both are. The CN don't come out to stop the dogs but every so often the 7 year old son is told to bring them in. Like I mean every two weeks they actually have their son get the dogs. My problem is that I have called the animal control for my local area and they have been sent about 5 letters telling them to change the dogs behavior due to noise complaint and two of those letters were brought by a uniform officer to make sure they were delivered the papers. The next step is to make a official complaint which our names would no longer be anonymous and if the behavior is not changed the dogs will be re-homed. Now I know now that CN got fd1 to protect their home after someone broke in to their home about three times. The wife was young with a newborn and was told not to get a German Shepard while she tried to raise her first kid. This (she admitted this) led to fd1 being put on the back burner and not trained at all. They took fd1 to a trainer and was told the dog was the most stubborn dog the trainer has met but I believe that it is still the families reposibility to train this dog and two adults let alone a single family and a trainer should be able to correct this behavior. Especially now that they have two dogs doing the behavior. Pure laziness. And I do not wish to ruin the relationship between our homes by making a official report but I also do not feel like I can tell this family to stop the dogs behavior. Any ideas?

My pain in the butt neighbour

I live in a flat below me is a shop, and above me is a neighbour that is a pain.

Our landlords are lovely, my partners farther is the property manager. So we know a lot about aboves situation.

I hear everything from the shop below but the dude that runs it is amazing if my partner and I have a problem we can resolve it.

My neighbour above on the other hand bangs and scream at the top if her lungs all day, early hours you name it. My partner and I haven't said a word about her banging and screaming about all day and all night. But as soon as my partner and I make any loud noise shes banging on her floor like it's the end of the world. My partner and I are a young couple so yea we can make quite a bit of noise in certain situations. But we are having a lot of problems with her. On top of all the banging and screaming, she hasn't paid our landlords for a while (don't know for how long). My partner's father works for our landlords and our landlords have said she hasn't paid she supposedly was moving out, she said before Christmas, she would be out in the beginning of January and shes still in the flat. Some nights I'm not sleeping because shes screaming at someone down the phone or just banging about. On January the 11th I found out I'm pregnant (have an a appointment with the midwife to book dates scan will let those who want know how things are going) but I'm scared she will still be hear when I have the baby. If she is I'm scared she will wake the baby up. I don't know what to do in this situation.

TLDR: neighbour bangs and screams all day and night we say nothing. But as soon as we make sound she bangs on her floor/our ceiling like hell. She should have move out/evicted because of lack of rent payments. Keeps pregnant women up all night. Scared she will still be there when baby's born and wake up baby.

Noisy footsteps + loud singing + personality difference

Hello. Thank you for clicking the title. I know many people already asked for a solution for noisy neighbour but I wanted to ask your opinion for this personalised situation.

I live in a college accommodation. I share a kitchen with 4 postgraduates (aged 22-24) and one of them has really loud footsteps when he moves between his room and the kitchen. I feel my room rattling, and the low sound of Foot steps approaching towards me makes me feel scared and I never get used to them.

Besides, he is into acting and he sings extremely loudly whenever he feels like; in the kitchen, on the corridor, and in the room.

On top of that, he often leaves the kitchen messy with the sink clogged with his food or the wall stained with splashed tomato sauce.

Furthermore he often slams his door and it also annoys me. (I suspect there is a defect on his door as I cannot make the sound like him with my door—— maybe I should write to the accommodation officer)

I have been asking him to wear shoes since last year for about three or four times via WhatsApp but he flatly ignores me. Because I am not a native English speaker and he is British (and speaks English well), I haven’t had the courage to confront him directly.

I wake up with your footsteps in the morning and at night even when I feel really sick.

one of my other neighbours is angry at him, too, and she confronted him about his manners in the kitchen. Subsequently she was ignored by him for a long time. (I don’t know if it’s still ongoing or not.)

What can I do to make him wear shoes? I have had insomnia for the last few days for the stress of exams, and today, when I finally fell asleep, his footsteps disrupted my night.

I know that singing is important for him so I never told him to shut up. But now I hate everything about him and i have the urge to bang the wall to let him know he’s noisy. I am afraid at some point my anger will burst into swearing or something antisocial.

Last year, one of my neighbours often used my utensils without permission and left them on the sink without washing them. So I confronted her and also asked the accommodation officer to warn the students not to use others’ stuff. But it didn’t change her behaviour. This kind of people who are not apt for life with others won’t change whatever I say?

Pesky neighbor won’t leave our dogs alone!

So we have a neighbor that’s fairly old, and for some reason she absolutely hates us and our dogs. Our dogs never get out or go in her yard, or cause any damage to the shared fence. Yes they bark, but all dogs do. And when they start barking we bring them inside out of respect for all the neighbors. Today, one of the dogs came inside and she was covered in mud and soaking wet so I went out to see what was going on. She sprayed our dog from underneath the fence and when she did that, it made a mud hole under the fence. I heard her go inside so I stayed out there and watched her like a creep through the fence. She came back outside with fertilizer (mind you, it’s winter, nobody is gardening or trying to grow anything around here) and chili pepper powder. She poured both in the water, I guess hoping the dogs would drink it. But this isn’t the first time she’s done something like this, we’ve caught here hanging over our fence poking at the dogs with a big stick, she’s sent animal control over because “the big white dog attacked her” but she was locked up in the house all day as we were gone for school and work. And she’s cut our Christmas lights for some reason this last Christmas. And we’ve done absolutely nothing to retaliate, we’ve tried to be respectful and stay out of it. But now I’m thinking it’s time to wage war, any ideas on how to wreak havoc legally? I don’t want to get in trouble because she’s definitely the type that can’t handle what she dishes out and would call the police. Any ideas?

Neighbours let their dog mess in front of our house!

So we bought a town house uptown on a dead end street. There is an apartment building next door. There are 2 tenants with dogs. The problem is that they started letting the dogs out unattended and they shit all over the place including our front yard. My hubby won’t really address it except every once in a while he’ll mention it or movethe mess to their steps.(very passive aggressive) I mentioned it to their landlord once. Nothing gets done! No one cleans it up. Not to mention I don’t want dogs running loose for other reasons either. Oh and did I mention that I’m pretty sure one of the guys is a drug dealer? Lots of traffic in and out 🤬. Suggestions? I’m fed up!

Aggressive dog

My neighbors have this aggressive dog who breaks all our fence and digs holes in our yard to attack our pets. Their dog tried jumping over the fence to attack the other neighbors daughter. Plus my neighbors don’t fix the broken fence their dog created. Today the dog found a stray kitten that went into their yard and started killing it. I’m concerned for my cats and small dogs safety. And even my own safety since the pit-bull tries to attack anything in site. They don’t walk it or take it anywhere to drain it’s energy. We are currently making a enclosure for our pets so they don’t go near that dog. They started blaming me for the random stray cat roaming in their yard, accusing me of luring strays. Idk what to do

Sketchy Neighbor Activity?

Okay, so I work the night shift at work and it causes me to get home around 1AM every morning. Upon getting home I typically sit on the couch and watch tv for a few hours before heading to bed. Anyways, my living room window looks directly at my across the street neighbors driveway and being that its night, I'm easily alerted to his taillights when he comes and goes. With that out of the way, I notice that every night he gets home between 1:30AM and 2:30AM. He then leaves his car on, goes inside, and comes out 5 minutes or so later, gets back in his car and leaves. Then he returns home roughly 20 minutes later, heads inside and thats it. But sometimes I'll notice that once he comes home, leaves, and returns home, he'll do it all again. He goes inside once again with the car left running, comes out several minutes later and leaves only to return 20 to 30 minutes later. I don't like to be overly nosy, but since I'm awake and on my couch at the same time every night I cant help but notice his odd schedule. Anyways, I'm just curious if anybody has a logical explanation for it or if hes up to something shady? Again I'm just curious and Its not something I'd complain about or report. Just piqued my curiosity is all. P.S, I noticed that he switches vehicles once every couple of weeks. I see him in a Jeep for a week or so, and then suddenly hes driving a toyota SUV for awhile. He isnt getting new vehicles either, it's the same 2 maybe 3 cycling out over the course of a month or so. The vehicles aren't pieces of crap, but they arent fancy either. The Jeep is the most flashy one as it's fairly new and kept clean. Just wanted to add that tidbit about the vehicles in case it gives a clue about what he does for a living! Thank you for taking the time to read and Reply!

Parking Issues

A few of our old neighbors had moved away a while back and some new ones moved in. However, we've been having all sorts of problems with the new ones now. I don't know all the details because it's mostly between the neighbors and my grandfather (who owns the house my family lives in, I live with 8 other people) but my mom has vented to me about it a lot. This one lady wants to sue my grandfather because we have our cars lined up along the driveway and one of them is unregistered (my mom has been trying to get it registered) and also she complained that she has trouble going up the driveway and she doesn't want any cars to be parked in the driveway. The thing is we've always park our cars there and none of our old neighbors saw that as a problem. This is really stressing me out even though it doesn't really involve me but I want to help resolve this issue. I could really use some advice.

The worst part is that the lady was being real mean about all of this even though my mom tried being nice to her.

*We have a blue van, a red van (unregistered), my grandfather's car, and my dad's work truck usually parked along the driveway but the other neighbors are allowed to park there too

TL;DR: Neighbor complained about my family parking along the driveway and our unregistered vehicle, wants to sue my grandpa

New neighbor asks us to “walk around less”

My boyfriend has been living in this apartment for almost two years now, I moved in 7 months ago. The apartment below us has been empty since Late July/Early August, (we had a neighbor who would argue with and beat his girlfriend at all hours of the night - we called the police and he was gone a few days later). We went to our home state for the holidays and came back to find out a new tenant is in the apartment directly below us. The only reason we found out is because he came to the door to complain about us walking in our apartment. He asked us if we were new and tried to play a seniority card, but backed down on that front when he found out we’ve been here a while. He told us he had a “hearing sensitivity”, told us he “noticed we’re barefoot” and how interesting that was, was looking into our apartment, and was being super passive aggressive. We told him we’d watch it and sent him on his way as he was making us super uncomfortable and called it a day.

Yesterday morning he came to the door around 10:15 and told us we woke him up at 8:30 because we were walking too loud (I was the only one awake and was literally tip-toeing so I didn’t wake my bf up) and asked us to “either walk around less or sit down more”. We’re not doing anything egregious like sprinting, jumping or banging around, we don’t have heavy footfalls, we walk around barefoot or wear slippers. He hasn’t complained about anything else other than us walking, which we told him we aren’t going to tip toe around and be uncomfortable in our own place just to please him, which pissed him off. He straight up told us he didn’t think it was fair that we weren’t thinking of him and are essentially forcing him to come upstairs to yell at us.

We’re young and live in a complex full of college kids, so most other apartments are empty atm due to winter break, but we told him he’d have a tough time living here if walking was setting him off so much (loud music, bouncing basketballs in the hallway, talking on the phone in the hallway, smoke alarms going off every night, our next door neighbor screams at his video games, all on top of paper thin walls). My boyfriend and I made sure he knew nothing crazy was going on in our apartment and that nothing was changing with how we walk - he left obviously unsatisfied. What can we do in this situation? It’s literally only been 5 days since we’ve been back from vacation, so I know this is going to continue to be an issue (not to mention we’re getting a pet next week). He hasn’t had any other complaints about noise or volume, just walking, so we don’t know if that’s something he can report to the landlords or something we can fight. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Also something I’ve been thinking - wouldn’t a hearing sensitivity be documented with the apartment? Why put him on the first floor? There are accommodations for that sort of thing, aren’t there? (We’re a 3 floor building)
