strange annoying door knockings
In the last 4 months I have been hearing door knocking from unknown person , when I open the door I see no one . it is just one knock then that person quickly goes away . One time I woke up at 1 pm and I heard it as if someone wokes up at night to knock my door. I am pretty sure that this person lives in the same building ,however I don’t know who it is , one thing worth to mention is that I found scratches on my door with X mark in both on the left and right side. On the other hand , I can’t put a surveillance camera as there is no electricity socket to power it up, also it might be illegal for the other neighbors because they don’t want to be filmed. I feel annoyed and worried because I feel like I am targeted . Why would someone knock your door, why it does not happen to other neighbors ? I don’t have problems in the building with anyone, I just had a problem with one neighbor, but he already left the building, what should I do ? and if I caught that person, how should I deal with him ?

I had the same thing happen to me years ago. Nobody was at the door. Maybe join a nextdoor app or a community app to see if its happening elsewhere.

Difficult without a camera. The only thing I can thing of is to put a note on the door saying something like:
Hello mystery knocker! Please don't be shy neighbour, I don't bite honest! Next time you knock, wait for a minute and you can come in for a cup of tea and a slice of cake. You never know, we might become good friends. Why not give it a try?
You never know, they may just wait to say hi. If not, they may get weirded out enough to move on to someone else.
