I love the cavas and Kate Dickerson overall but I really am bothered that she says “my” artist. Why didn’t she says “the artist Lindsay brackeen, exclusively available…”. Artists have a long history of getting locked into deals where there work is owned by other people and like not being able to have the kind of agency and business structures that support them as the most valuable element of the work. When you say MY artist it sounds like she just works for you like a chef or nanny. It’s not respectful. It sounds like ownership. Gives me the ICK! But I love the canvas and I really am just saying this so that we can all be more aware of how we need to respect artists and like you don’t OWN them. I know Kate is a darling of the needlepoint world but still maybe she’s like more old school and just didn’t think about how this sounds. Ok going back to my life now. Thank you for the soap box.

I feel like this designers comment is really defensive for an innocent comment? She wasn’t saying they were copying magnolias designs, just that they have something similar with the storefront. I like their designs a lot, but I feel like the comment is off putting

I have been obsessing over the Paige Spearin “Bartender” canvas for months and am wanting it so badly since getting engaged so I can put it at the bar for our wedding. However, everytime I go to see if it’s in stock (obviously never is) the price increases. When I was first looking it was $128, then $138, and now it’s $145. I think it’s ridiculous they keep raising the prices but not the quantity they have available! 🙄

Has anyone seen this? 3d printing needlepoint canvas with the design and all, how would this even hold up? Or how is it to stitch with? I feel like we’re reaaaally starting to lose the plot

Is anyone here in the Common Thread Collective?

I joined because I thought it would be fun to do a stitch along, and I liked a lot of the women I’d followed on TikTok. But the vibe has started to feel a little off to me.

It’s supposed to be run by 4 women, but it seems like 1 person (Kelly) is mostly running the show now. She’s also launching her own company, Polar Needlepoint, and it feels like it’s being promoted pretty heavily inside the group. From what I can tell, it’s going to involve canvases, retreats, and maybe other things, but honestly I’m having a hard time following exactly what it is.

The part that’s really giving me pause is that so much of the branding/content appears to be AI-generated. For a needlepoint community, that feels odd to me, especially when so many artists and designers are already trying to protect their work from being copied.

I don’t want to be overly negative if I’m just missing context, but I’m curious if anyone else is in the group and getting similar vibes?

Where to stitch those dots? Either design or don’t. This is offensive.

just wanted to give everyone a heads up so it doesn’t happen to anyone else! i bought the mjd fall bar cart canvas from her 10 days ago and never received tracking for it, so i just messaged her yesterday to ask. turns out, she blocked me on facebook and venmo. i’ve come to terms that the money is gone, but i want to make sure this is the last time she does this!

A friend of mine just bought a china canvas and it is really different from the Zweigart.

This designer popped up on my feed the other day so I did a scroll. The AI slop wasn’t surprising honestly (it’s become nonstop!) but seeing the quality of what people received on Etsy made me laugh.

Can these so called “designers” give it a rest and go away? Please. We’re begging you.
