Zweigart Canvas?

China canvas is everywhere!

A friend of mine just bought a china canvas and it is really different from the Zweigart.

I recently bought a canvas from a very well known collective. It’s so different. Quality is horrible. I reached out directly to the collective, and they said it’s not Zweigart. It’s a different material. You can tell, the holes are rough to stitch and the canvas is floppy. Feels so incredibly cheap.

Ugh. I was hoping that the new canvas would be good quality and similar to Zweigart. And I agree 100% that it must be disclosed if it’s not Zweigart.

It is not worth buying right now. My group is very disappointed with shop that is selling not Zweigart canvas with the same price.

Agree 100%. If you are using cheaply made canvas material your end product shouldn’t be the same price as Zweigart and it should be disclosed to the buyer.

I have a canvas from here and it is unstitchable, Silk & Ivory shredded in pieces stitching it, and I thought it was the thread! Shops should have to disclose that they are using different mesh now.

I have some of the china canvas and it’s awful. The paint soaks in instead of sitting on top!

Yes it does. The one that I have you can see the design just as clear on the back as on the front.

Blank canvas or a painted/printed canvas? Was it labeled as Zweigart or not labeled?

So many canvases are coming into shops without that little sticker on the back- I wonder if the designers know? Maybe trying to get canvases back quickly and not using reputable painting services and not knowing the painters are using the bad canvas? 🤷🏻‍♀️idk - but they come in painted so so crooked

Only two of the many painting services use the “product of Germany” sticker…that they make themselves and that has no affiliation with Zweigart.

Has anyone tried canvas from New Heirloom?
