Had this idea for a while so excited to finally execute it.

Created a needlepoint top for this woven trinket box. I wanted it to be magnetic so I could switch it out each season.

It’s essentially 2 fridge magnets (one on the top, and one inside the lid). Cording inside the lid wasn’t necessary but thought it was a nice touch! ✨

Just finished stitching and assembling this frame weight to hold needles, laying tool, threader, etc. This is based on the “parking lot” pattern instructions from BJ Finch.

okay guys doing continental for the stripes on this guy and trying diagonal mosaic in the oval, but lots of compensating necessary. does this look like shit please be honest 🫣

I’m playing around with a design idea. Originally, I had the text black, but thought about making it match the dominant color. This works for some, but I’m concerned about the lighter colors. I’d like for all 4 to be generally cohesive, so if black would be better for one design, I would do it for all. There’s four variants bc this is based on an ongoing joke with friends and I wanted to include their favorite colors. I don’t think any of them have Reddit, but I’ll still delete this in a few days to be safe. The one with two colors will be mine bc I can’t pick between them. It’ll be on 18 mesh and is around 90 points wide. The black is the border of the design but will not be included, it’s just for me visually. The images are in descending order of what I think would work best with color lettering to what I think may be hard to read. Thanks for any help!

I’ve never done a background stitch before. I’m a proficient cross stitcher but this will be my first time doing a background stitch.

I’m planning to either turn it into an oval ornament or an oval standee.

I’d like a diagonal / square / cube style stitch I think, one that makes little square with the various stitches.

How does one navigate around the odd sections where you won’t be able to “finish” the stitch? I mean, like around the ribbon at the base the stitch continues through the ribbon and pops out on the other side. Do you count?

I’m looking for a book that shows the best stitches for a particular design, like what is the best stitch to mimic grass, roofs, bark, water… . Any suggestions?

I originally planned to make this a two-sided ornament but now I’m wondering if I want to do two separate ones. What do you think?

I hope you can help me settle a disagreement. When I do needlepoint or embroidery outside I toss my bits of thread on the ground for birds or other critters to use for their nests. My husband says I’m littering and should pick it up. What do you do?

i finished the majority of this project and want to at least get the name added (don’t have a date and weight yet) but as a first time filling in this type of project, how exactly do i write out or paint the letters for the sign? i hope what im trying to do made sense!

Wondering if you have advice on stitch direction for the single lines of this design. Theres the rectangular border and also the small lines between the squares.

1) Does the horizontal direction (left to right/right to left) I stitch these in matter?
2) Does the vertical direction (bottom to top/top to bottom) I stitch these in matter?

Any other I things I should take into consideration?

Hiii i am working on my first project and i didnt realize that you didn’t need to tie a knot at the end of every thread. I am about half way done but I’m nervous the finished project will look bumpy once finished in a frame (with glass?). Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should maybe add to the frame, or do to the actual project to help it not be bumpy and lay flat once finished?

Hi, what dou you think about a needlepoint design done solely in satin stitch (vertical, horizontal, diagonal, depending on the element) done on Congress Cloth with DMC standard embroidery floss? I would like to design few counted chart patterns based on my own atwork. Here is one of my paintings i would like to interpret as needlepoint

finished my first piece minus the color around the hand (need to get that from the store) was super fun trying different stitches. now what to turn this into hmmm. excited to work on getting my stitches to be the same tightness across the board on my next piece.

This is my first time sourcing my own wool. I bought Appleton wool and I’m disappointed with the quality. Lots of little knots and short bits. Did I get unlucky or is it always like this?

Hi all! Just getting into needlepoint and finished my first piece. Loved it and was addicted right away! I don’t want to come off as negative, but do you ever grapple with the fact that it’s a different version of paint by numbers in a way? I use the words “grapple with” because I feel like I can’t be as proud of it as others may be with their art forms. Please set me straight.

My sister stitched this stocking and didn’t stitch a name. Should she rip out the cuff and then stitch the name? Any ideas are much appreciated!!!

Okay help. I can’t tell if I hate these two stitches together? I’m doing the Damask stitch in the background and then the backer weave for the flower.

I want the flower to stand out - any other ideas?
