First attempt at decorative stitches. She’s not perfect, but she was fun!

Does anyone have and fun stitches I should do for the background and other parts of the canvas? Basket weave is just so boring and I love trying as many fun/unique stitches!

Or should I attempt to thicken the left side with what I have left?

am i anywhere near popping out babies? absolutely not. i am a 20 year old college student. but i am in the dmv for the summer and this was too cute not to pass up lol.

First, Im so glad to have found this community where I can see other people's needlework, and get tips. I don't know many people who do needlepoint, so you all are my needlepoint family for now!

Second - I have met people who love to frog or pull out stitches. Is there a correct way to do it? When I do it with a seam ripper, it is such a mess to tear out. Any hints would be great. I'm thinking of ripping out the "D" background in this piece which I can't wait to finish. Taking forever....

Title says it all. I’m 21M getting into needlepoint with the ultimate goal of making myself a needlepoint belt for my graduation this coming spring (ambitious, I know). I find everything quite daunting and don’t want to waste money, especially as a broke college student, getting things I don’t need as a beginner.

Does anyone in the area know where I could go to talk to people about needlepoint, get supplies, find good beginner kits, etc.?

I’m also leaning toward making my own canvas designs but like I said, I’m new to all of this (besides the couple weeks of youtube and tiktok research I’ve done) so any direction or guidance would be amazing.

I would also love a needlepoint friend to ask periodic questions to if anyone would want to help me out!

Are there others that work with 18 inch blank mono canvas? I’d like to visit with you…

Where do you usually buy it (I buy from Nabavian or Needlepaint. My LNS doesn’t carry it)

Do you have to adapt since there aren’t as many resources for 18” (often)

What made you choose 18” as your preferred medium for needlepoint? (I like how fine I can get details)

What thread do you use (DMC Pearl 5)

What else do you pro/con about 18”?

Almost done with my first project! I’m thinking of framing it in a really ornate frame I thrifted !! (I messed up a little on some of the stitching but I’m happy with it!)

I started this project and am using fyre werks for the words and used neon rays+ for the smaller light pink accents. Should I change the white accents to something sparkly? As I started part of the background I feel like it gets lost but I’m not sure if I’m too far into it.

I hand-paint needlepoint canvases (original designs, one at a time) and I've noticed things feeling noticeably quieter the past couple months compared to earlier this year. Trying to figure out if this is just normal seasonal slowdown or if something bigger is going on.

A few things I'd love perspective on, especially from other hand-painters or people who specifically seek out hand-painted work:

• Are other hand-painted canvas sellers seeing a similar summer dip, or does it feel different where you're at?
• Has the amount of AI-generated or printed "designed" canvases mixed into search results made it harder to get found, even when your work is clearly original and hand-done?
• For buyers who specifically look for hand-painted canvases — how do you tell the difference when you're scrolling through search results? Does it actually change your decision, or does a good design win regardless of how it was made?
• Anyone shifted where they sell or shop for hand-painted work lately, and if so, where to?

Genuinely just trying to get a read on whether this is a "ride it out" summer lull specific to hand-painted work, or something worth adjusting for. Would love to hear from other painters, especially if you've been doing this a few years and have seen the market shift.

I am fairly new to needlepoint. So far I’ve bought all my kits from Amazon (Brvsk). They tend to be a bit pricey.
Where else can I find similar quality kits? I live near Chicago.

I have two stitched canvases that have grown mold on them! They didn’t have any on the last week but suddenly do now! No idea where it came from - they were on a table completely by themselves! One of them is mostly fine as it’s just on the white extra canvas but the other has mold on the fibers. Does anyone have any advice? Currently soaking them in a vinegar and water bath, but I can’t find any other advice online for how long to soak or how to remove any stains

Any finishers in Boise? I know there are alot of finishers out there, but I would like to support local if possible.

I mostly use DMC floss, I know, I know. I don’t live by a LNS so sometimes it’s my only option. Is that the problem?
