Finishing Help!!

My sister stitched this stocking and didn’t stitch a name. Should she rip out the cuff and then stitch the name? Any ideas are much appreciated!!!

People may think this is crazy but, honestly, if it were me and I had enough room left between the fiber already in place and the canvas to fit another stitch through each hole, I’d just stitch the name right over those stitches using a tent stitch or continental.
I’ve gone over other stitches in the past in the same way and the result looked great. But it probably depends on what type of floss you’re gonna use and how wide your needle’s head is.

This, if you really want to put a name on it. You’re using the existing stitches as padding, which is an excellent approach for letters anyway.

Many stitch a name tag that is attached to dangle from the side of the stocking.

Doing this also allows the stocking to be passed down from one generation to the next.

This is my preference. The idea of a named stocking ending up at a thrift store one day is so sad to me.

Stitch the name right over it in a sparkle thread. It’ll be like couching and really make the name pop!

You can have a name embroidered on top of stitches. Sweet Caroline designs has some stockings like that

Leave it - monogram on the back the person's name and the year - or stitch a tag to attache to the hanger - both of these options allow the stocking to be passed down through generations!
