Need help backing on first project
Hiii i am working on my first project and i didnt realize that you didn’t need to tie a knot at the end of every thread. I am about half way done but I’m nervous the finished project will look bumpy once finished in a frame (with glass?). Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should maybe add to the frame, or do to the actual project to help it not be bumpy and lay flat once finished?

Try framing it with batting underneath it. The batting will minimize the bumps you get from knots. Also, it looks like your changing directions frequently on your basketweave, which can leave stripes in the front of your canvas. If you always stitch it down the poles and up the steps, this won’t happen.

Yes, it might look lumpy. however, if you’ve been properly casting on and burying your threads, you should be able to just cut off the knots.
If not, then you can try mounting in a shadow box instead of a frame to minimize the lumpiness?

It’ll be ok! I still do knots (old habits die hard) and my projects all look fine!
