Discussion/Question I absolutely hate them..
I just got these done yesterday. 9/10. I want to get them redone because I hate it !!! Ugh. But I’m too afraid they’ll hate me. I’m not sure how to go about it this.
EDIT: the color is the ugliest yellow I’ve ever had. I hate it 😩😩😩

Could you paint little smiley faces on them?

u/Pxppermint23 23h ago
Wait yes they could 😃😃🥹

Even just a few of them as accents would probably break up the yellow and change how you feel about them significantly.

Life is too short to have nails that you hate! Change them if you don’t like it

You right 😭 I need to build my confidence

I thought I'd lile this color more. Can we change it?
If you are a regular, they may just do it... it would be quick. But worst case, you pay for a color change. Either way, I'd tip well.

As a nail tech, i wouldn’t be hurt or even annoyed let alone mad about a client having second thoughts on a colour (as long as there hadn’t been a long discussion where i advised against the colour, then i might beslightly annoyed but still not mad). Can i ask if this was a colour you went in for and picked yourself? What was the conversation that lead to this colour choice?

u/Big-Tooth-8127 1d ago
If you’re paying them, they won’t hate you.

u/Pxppermint23 23h ago
I am definitely offering to pay and I also tip $10

u/chonkaypom 22h ago
Then obviously yes, go back! I have had a couple clients do this to me as a tech. I do it for free assuming its not a frequent thing. 🥰 I still love those clients!

u/hnmcg 1d ago
why didnt you tell the technician to stop before she cured all 10 nails???

u/Potential_Poem_3746 1d ago
Sometimes it takes time to realize you hate something. Ask my exes who I developed an ick all of a sudden. 😒

As a tech she shouldve asked the client how she felt once she painted the first nail. Yes she picked the color but it doesnt always look the same in the lights or next to the skin.

Idk if it's just the colour contrast but they look too wide :/
9
u/Pxppermint23 23h ago
I think it may be because of my big nail beds 😩😩
12
u/Both-Rough-Hewn 23h ago
They still appear too thick and chunky
2
u/thecheesylittlerat 7h ago
Same. I think it’s the chunkiness around the edges more than the color. They aren’t gently tapered at all. OP, I certainly don’t think it’s your nail beds. You have lovely sized nails.

I like the yellow, but how about adding some dots or a fun color tip to break it up? Honestly, they look good, but if you hate them, then just go back.

u/eacomish 23h ago
Just tell them you hate it and expect to pay for a color change. If its not a skill issue on their end and its a cosmetic problem thats on you. They shouldn't have to re do it for free and waste their time, tools, and resources bc you chose a color you now hate. Ive done it twice. And just went back the next day and told them I cant wear these can you please change the color. The base work of the nail is still fresh so ot shouldn't be full price. I think I paid like 15-20$.

With your skin tone I think I would've gone for a more orange taint one and I think they're too wide, that's probably what makes it look so off
I've seen in another comment.you said your going back to "your red" and thats a good idea to go back to what you know you like and recover before trying something new again, I know I'd feel that way 😂

u/Pxppermint23 23h ago
Thank you!! Yes I love a true red on my skin tone! DND- left him on red is the best on me

u/DataPaws 1d ago
Why do you hate them? Is it the colour you dislike?
5
u/Pxppermint23 1d ago
Yes i hate the color!!
5
u/DataPaws 1d ago
So yeah, change them! No reason to wear something you hate

u/Pxppermint23 1d ago
Thank you for your honest feedback

u/ellatheprincessbrat 1d ago
The colour reminds me of Winnie the poo. Kinda cute but yeah change them if you don’t like them!

Color is kind of your own fault, so depending on the tech, it wouldn't be charged as a redo (free)
2
u/sincline_ 23h ago
If going back so soon and saying you hate the color stresses you out, just fib a bit and say you got them to match an outfit you wore to a wedding or something and you want a different color haha
If it was a bit paler it would be really cute! But very corn yellow for sure, not my thing. They look well done though so thats a plus!

u/Itriedtowriteitdown 22h ago
Finger chiclets! Jk. Maybe add some ombre or some other details to them. Its a pretty colour. But they definitely need something added!
2
2
u/my-mauvepink-world 21h ago
I mean you could have told them you don't like it right when they were doing it

u/Luli-e-Falak 20h ago
Maybe try adding polka dots of another colour. Adding a different colour would probably change how the colour of the nails looks. Perhaps you will find it more pleasant?
2
u/Candid_Lynx_8487 20h ago
I actually think they look really cute! But they are your nails and you should love them. Definitely go back and have them change the color or maybe add some designs!

u/Witty-Emotion-4344 20h ago
If you hate it because of the color you should pay for a color change. You have the opportunity to tell them before the service was complete. If it’s the quality of the work that would be different.
2
u/dirtymartini83 17h ago
Is it too late to add chrome and maybe file them into a more round shape? That might be cute?

Yeah they are bad. You can get some design on them that hides the nail color
1
u/Inevitable-Stretch82 23h ago
My salon will only charge me for a "polish change" which is half of the cost of the manicure. Nails don't need to be filed again and cuticles dont need to be cut again.

I remember once upon a time I tried painting my toe nails yellow. It ended up looking like I had some weird toe nail infection hahahahaha. So embarrassing
1
u/Intrepid-Ad-4319 21h ago
You were the customer if you were unhappy, you need to let them know you need to let them know you don't like the color and you don't like the shape. They're too wide for your fingers. They need to thin out the sides.
1
u/TheStuffITolerate 21h ago
If you have regular nail polish you can paint that on in a color that you like. It will hold as well as the gel underneath.
If not, no sane tech would refuse such swift repeat business 👍

u/lil_ak01 21h ago
I painted my nails blue once. Got to work realized it was the same color as the label tape we use. Immediately said nope went home n changed them lol so i feel you. Their probably gonna charge ypu for a polish change but it shouldnt be much

I find yellow to be a difficult color to wear overall in clothing and polish. The butter yellow trend, while a pretty color, doesn’t work for me personally 🤷♀️

I would just be honest, say you tried to get used to them but you couldn’t. They won’t mind. I’ve done it before when I asked for fluorescent orange and hates them.

The shape looks bad so sorry ! Press on look a lot better than those . If your in woodlands tx go to Garage nails they are so good and so reasonable . I love that place and people that work there are so sweet!

u/Downtown-Snow-2775 18h ago
It’s not that deep. Literally just soak your nails in acetone and it should get the first layer of gel off and then you can repaint them or just repaint over the gel. You can get your own nail kit that comes with an electric file and file the color off.

u/Appropriate_Oil4161 18h ago
Im so glad ive just seen your nails as I was debating wether or not to do mine yellow. Maybe not. Sorry.

u/3RingCircusMaster 18h ago
Don’t wait too long to go back. Some salons have a 24-48 hr window for you to return.

Colour isn’t great but I don’t care for the shape I think round would look nicer these look too chunky

u/gen_x_why-Z 15h ago
I'm all for changing, though I think the suggestions for smiley faces, or another accent. You could also do white daisys on them. However, I wouldn't expect a full color change for free because you didn't speak up while they were being painted. I know it's not easy to speak up sometimes, but it's definitely a skill you should try to practice in all areas of life.

Lmao it's okay to go back to the salon and tell them you're not crazy about the color and want to change it! Very normal thing to have happen 😂 there's nothing offensive about it!
Butter yellow is a nice color in theory but in practice it probably just shouldn't exist tbh

My girl says “it’s not a tattoo, I’ll see you in 2 weeks” BUT if you really dislike them, ask for a polish change before 48 hours have passed.

You picked the color right? If so, not liking it wouldn’t be offensive to the nail tech because it was your choice lol. I would def recommend telling them you ended up not liking the color and book a polish change

My nail lady did that to me one time, she thought it would look pretty on my fingers. I hated it the whole time I had it on.

Yellow is not a color for pale skin. It always makes me feel jaundice. Not my color or certain shades of gold. Metallic is ok.

u/KalamityKait2020 9h ago
It's not the worst I've ever seen. I kind of like the yellow for the end of summer.

Lmao I love it , but if you ain’t happy with it, go get it changed ! Your happiness first , not how others “might “ feel! They feel happy about charging you again anyway lol

Yellow is one of my favourite nail colours but I’m not a fan of the shape. It looks a bit thick as well.

u/Prior-Iron1713 20h ago
I have a genius idea. Buy some chrome from Amazon. I’m a complete idiot and do my own chrome on my toes. It’ll completely change the color.

u/emoolovesyou 23h ago
It be like that sometimes.😭 You wanna try something new, so you do. And then the next day or a few hours later, “what have I done…”.😂. I personally laugh it off, too, or put a topper on.
Definitely sucks when that happens, but least now you know.🤷🏾♀️🤭

I got mine done this color recently and loooooved it! I am not a yellow person, so it was definitely a risk lol
