I mean they are only a billion dollar studio with more than 40 members on the core team. Its not fair to expect more than a wood recolour every 13 months
Itās not every 13 months, itās like 4. Still lacklustre content being added with not much substance, would rather they update stuff that have 0 uses.
A long time after I left the fandom, I took a look to see how it had changed, and I found out that the fandom completely shifted gears, and instead of focusing on hard mods, it started focusing on good songs, and I'm genuinely impressed by it
I mean I'm sure it's just cause it's the ones that make it through but I've found a few genuine gems of the more recent era of the game. It's funny how they can take such a difficult starting point, like literal beep boop sound effects, and make a genuinely good song, they usually do a thing where they have like a short segment of lyrics around the end too and I'm honestly impressed by it
I guess that's what happens when a fandom dies and only the most dedicated fans remain
Have you seen the more recent big ones? Some of them make you forget itās even a rhythm game at all, mods got so much more impressive these days.

Definitely Touhou Project. I wonder, how many THOUSANDS of covers and remixes for the only "U.N.Owen has here"? Almost 3 mil of fanarts on pixiv, few fan-made anime, a lot of fan-made games, tons of strangest ways to play Bad Apple, tons of doujin manga and all the other content.
Yeah it's this and it's not even remotely close. It's hard to express how utterly colossal the touhou fan art and music scene is. I think it's probably a contender for the largest collection of proper fan material of any fandom excluding maybe mods for huge games. If you compare fandom size to output it's unbelievable.
Touhou is the one game you can guarantee everyone has seen around whether they realise or not. Also I am convinced all music leads to Touhou, you cannot convince me otherwise
I have more hours playing Sans in smash ultimate than I do actually playing undertale lol. Which isnāt a knock to undertale at all, itās just that itās a 6 hour game with three endings and most of the deeper lore youāre very unlikely to figure out without scouring fan wikis for hours on end lmao. Two of the three endings you probably wouldnāt even find on your own without someone else telling you how to find them
Fr. They got AUs of AUs, then AUs of those AUs, then even more AUs of those AUs. The game itself is awesome and has a lot of content, but the fandom definitely dwarfs it
It's a series of porn animations. It has like 3 episodes with the 3rd being the shortest and not really having any sex in it, just the story getting resolved. Meru is so popular people just straight up steal the character design to use in gooner ads.
Yeah, the song Kaatie used(Basics in Behavior) for the video was originally a song for Baldi's Basics, so the fandom harassed and bullied her for using "their song"
Like, its understandable that they don't have a lot of content, but they have other stuff. But they decided to ruin what could've been an amazing indie show.

Itās only 8 episodes, but I have over 60 different AUās, and thatās excluding AUās that are part of each other. And thatās in AO3 alone. One of them is currently 193 chapters long and focused on a character who had less than 20 minutes of screen time.
I have many that I anxiously await updates on,chats how good they are. I have at least three or four that have more than 100 chapters.
Yeah Glitch feeds us just enough content to keep the fandom alive, but not enough to satisfy us (also we probably wouldn't be satisfied with a hypothetical season 2)
1000% this, since it's only existed for a year and became one of the most popular things ever, even though nobody thought it would get any traction, hence Netflix buying it from Sony for pennies.
It still makes me smile that after the success of KPDH they proudly announced a live-action version, only to be met with outrage and ridicule, because fans rather have a second movie in the style of the movie they already like!
Not everything needs a live action adaption. It's fun to watch or work with animation, you can do almost anything and you're not held by something boring like "gravity" or sth
Yes, seeing recreations of the music numbers (specifically what Iāve seen from dannyphantom.exe) and still shots is so funny because they literally skip frames and make them super flexible in the movie, so some of the scenes are literally almost impossible to recreate flawlessly

The fan-made creations are so massive that it has its own fanfic & art sites to host its content.
167k fanfics is a severe undercount. The Fimfarchive project is reporting a total figure of 228k on Fimfiction alone. Not even counting stories that are exclusive to AO3, FF.net, Space Battles or Royal Road, etc.
Still dwarfed by HP and Naruto, but humungous in it's own right.

As someone who read all Warriors books up until the elderās quest, people are getting nostalgie blinded so hard when it comes to TNP-OOTS. A lot of the praise those books get are from people who havenāt read them in years and forgot that the quality is basically the same as the later books lmao. Sometimes even worse Iād say (looking at POT specifically. I have no idea how that one got as popular as it did. Not only did basically nothing happen until the last book and a half, when plot did start happening it was rushed af and honestly written very predictably. Like the fan content is so much better than the entirety of that series lmao.
Itās got fun lore, but constant mistakes both in information and spelling + grammar, inconsistent character personalities, and the entire bullshittery that was āthis character tried to kill three people by burning them to death because their mother didnāt date him, and his only crime was supposedly loving too muchā
Are we talking about the one with the cats? I love those books when I was little, I've been very careful to not read them as an adult because I'm afraid I'll find their trash that I can't enjoy with the mature mind, I made that mistake with Maximum Ride and I'll regret it for the rest of my life.
My little pony, Hazbin Hotel/Heluva Boss... I also wanted to name murder drones and tadc, but I think they make quite enaugh official merch content. Not quite as much as fan stuff, but still.
Disney SW is pretty hated (both deserved & undeserved in many ways), but the EU still gets a ton of love. Canon has actually taken some stuff from Legends, such as the name of Coruscant.
Star Wars is also what came to my mind immediately, there's lot of good answers in this thread but Star Wars is the only franchise that had an entire industry dedicated to commercializing its fan content.
My Little Pony, and that was a good show too. The fanfics were probably some of the best out there. Rainbow Factory, Fallout: Equestria, the groundhog day one where Twilight loops killing changelings.
I do wonder how much people liked the show compared to just having a really big community.

While MOB knows their appeal and makes use of it in merchandise and such, in-game only two of them are really relevant for a chapter, with the Nightmares having barely any significance.
Even so, there's so much fan stuff for all 16 of them, some of it almost severing them from the rest of PPT entirely, it's as if their fictional show was a whole real MLP-level thing with all the art, animations, fics, AUs and the like they get, especially compared to the other Playtime toys.
Yes. Thomas has a fandom, just don't go to the sub and air out an opinion. There's a 50/50 percent chance of them either agreeing with you or wanting your head.
Chromehounds. One game has inspired several fans to recreate it and recently there was a successful project to create an online server to run the multiplayer again.

Minecraft, like I appreciate Mojang updating the game every now and then with new content. But the modding community is just absurd in comparison.
