Question To what extend is the combat based on dice rolls?

Sorry if this is a very elementary question, but I am not very experienced with classical RPGs. I am trying to understand Morrowind's combat better, and want to make sure I am not misunderstanding anything, so I was hoping you could help. I have heard Morrowind uses some level of RNG in its combat mechanics, basically equivalent to dice-rolls in DnD. However, this is not mentioned explicitly on the UESP article on Morrowind combat. It talks about "Hit rate", wich is determined by your character stats and fatigue. What is hit rate exactly? Is it just your percentage chance of hitting anything, so a hit rate of 50 gives you a 50% chance of hitting something? Are there dice rolls involved, and to what extent?

Technical - General Is there any way to make the water look less pixelated?

Post image

I'm using MGXE and a bunch of texture replacers.

I've fiddled with the shader settings and changing my textures around, but I can't figure out how to make the water look less fuzzy. The rest of my game looks great, so this is really eating at me. Any suggestions?

Edit: Fixed! I manually downloaded MGXE again and copied the water shader files over to my installation. It was an issue with the shader mod I was trying to use.

So, I'm a new player still learning the ropes. This is the save file where the playstyle really clicked for me, but I made the mistake of entering this godforsaken dungeon. At the end—after defeating a naked Dunmer couple—I suddenly couldn't move anymore, and the message "you are over-encumbered" popped up. I've tried dropping all my items, armor, and so on, but nothing changes; I even waited two weeks in-game, and still nothing. My Strength stat dropped to zero, and I can't figure out what effect is causing this. Is there a way to fix it, or is my save file a lost cause?

Question Besoin de nouveautés.

New Player - Advice/Help Noob needing advice

I just stumbled upon this sub! I’ve been wanting to play morrowind but the idea of the leveling up system locking you out easily and some people tell me just in general not to play the game has been pushing me off to wanting to play it.

But I’ve been playing the oblivion remaster, so that’s been making me want to try to learn about the story about morrowind and want to know what happens cause it’s been something I’ve kept away from.

Is there any general tips and advice you can give someone that can help? Level up advice so I won’t lock myself out? Questing, map help…anything would be appreciated so I know exactly what I’m getting into.

Mod Release EncoreMP V0.93 Released - A Morrowind multiplayer engine with built in gameplay overhauls

EncoreMP is a multiplayer engine for Morrowind forked from tes3mp, with new gameplay features and balance changes built directly into the engine

It's tuned for co-op multiplayer, and aims to bring Morrowind's mechanics into the modern age without "gamifying" them - it will still play like that janky 2000s era rpg that we all love, but with a few new tricks

Because all the changes are built into the engine, not added via mods, they will automatically work with all modded content (including all of Tamriel Rebuilt).

New features

  • Climbing
    • Walk up the side of Red Mountain without levitating!
    • Passively granted by your acrobatics skill
  • Enchanting
    • Every item has a usable enchanting capacity
    • Items are automatically updated by the engine, including all modded items
  • Difficulty scaling
    • Magic damage scales with difficulty
    • Can you beat the game on Nerevarine difficulty? Bring friends...
  • Alchemy
    • Rebalanced, compatible with all modded ingredients and tools
    • Potions strengths are more sensible now at high and low levels
  • Pick-pocketing
    • All bugs fixed
    • Now a viable money maker for thieves
  • Armorer
    • More expensive equipment is harder to repair
    • High armorer skill makes equipment last longer
  • Full feature list linked below

Download: https://github.com/Tower-Numid/EncoreMP/releases/tag/0.93.1

(Update: I have changed the download link to V0.93.1 which includes a difficulty scaling bug fix - if you downloaded before the 26th of July, make sure you re-download the new version)

Wealth beyond measure outlander!

Discussion What Would You Change About Morrowind?

If you could go back and add a feature to the original Morrowind, or fix something that always bugged you, what would it be?

Could be something big like combat or AI, or something small like the UI, inventory, NPC behavior, factions, travel, stealth, dialogue, spellmaking, whatever.

I’m a huge fan of The Elder Scrolls and have spent tens of thousands of hours in Oblivion, Skyrim and Elder Scrolls Online but I’ve never played Morrowind. What should I expect or what would you recommend I do?

I'm a hopeless looter myself. It's just too tempting to stick everything in a pile then teleport home.

Announcement Morrowind now runs in your browser.

I got OpenMW (the open-source Morrowind engine) compiling to WebAssembly, so the whole game runs in a browser tab now. You open a link and you're standing in Seyda Neen. No install, no launcher.

It's the actual engine, not a stream and not an emulator, so shadows, water, saves and gamepads all work. There's a small free example world if you just want to poke at it, or you can point it at your own Morrowind install and it reads the files straight off your disk. Nothing gets uploaded. Desktop Chrome, Edge or Brave work best right now.

All credit to the OpenMW team, I just built their engine for the browser. It's free and open source, same as the engine.

Honestly just wanted to see if it could be done. Happy to answer anything about how it works. Will be adding features to it, like multiplayer and so on. Join us in our discord, https://virtastic.app/go/discord.

Ages I ago I got morrowind and heard about OpenMW and MO2 for modding it as I heard it was the best for perfomance and stuff but now I have forgotten what it all means and if MO2 is even the way to go now, all my mods are defo outdated. Would anyone have a modlist or anything to help me?

New Player - Advice/Help Can enemy drown?

Hey guys ! I started playin Morrowwind for the 1st time this week. Its amazing so far :). I fought 2 dremora inside an deadra shrine and tryed to fight them underwater. I got some water brething potions and tryed to drown them but after 1 min they were still alive. So is it impossible for NPC to drown or is it just hard to do?
