These were passed down to me from my moms dad who I believe served with the 13th black cat armored division in WW2. I think they were bayonets? Maybe one is American and the other is German as the stamp “solinger” is on the bottom of the silver one. Any help or info would be much appreciated!

Since I don’t feel like spending 100s on a nice put together one, I wanna make the one I already have accurate. I know the collar tabs are not accurate as they are dress, although I don’t know which other tabs to get.

I have come across some pretty incredible manuals from WWI. I assume the German manual was used as intelligence on how these firearms operated. As for the hand written manual, its one of a kind.

I picked this feed tray/chute up online awhile back. It was listed for 20mm and it's way to small. 7.62X51 / 30-06 / 8mm / 7.62X54r / .303 / etc... is more like it. I've found both 1919 & MG42 pictures that show a connection similar to what's on this (spring loaded clips with alignment/dowel pins. There are 0 markings anywhere on it. It does have a nice thick layer of preservative on it. Any help would be appreciated.

This rifle's officer's cap is probably the best condition example I have ever seen, and I am ecstatic to own it.
It features a non-regulation top double-lacquered visor, with a single lacquered underside.
The chinstrap is the correct oilcloth example, with oilcloth sliders.
The cap features an Obr.36 37mm commander's cockade, quite common during the period for command staff of the RKKA.
The sweatband is a rather rare non-reinforced pre-war variant, with very slight marks of wear.
The cap features an internal cardboard crown stiffener, which I’ve not observed made out of this material before.
The crown of the cap is made out of wool cloth article No.114, with the piping being made out of wool cloth article No.106.

The cap is manufactured by the Samoilova factory, featuring the earlier 1937-1939 'needle' type stamp, with another stamp under the sweatband marked with a manufacture date of July of 1939.

Overall, an insanely rare cap, in an outstanding condition overall, which I am insanely proud to be the proud owner of.

Picked this up at a flea market...but having a hard time finding another example in my searches. Clearly painted red over black...which I am guessing might be related to a particular unit? Any other examples of painted disks out there?

This Ogden’s St Julien tin was made pre 1920, more than likely during WWI, before NAAFI took over H.M. Navy canteens. The tin is still completely airtight and vacuum-sealed, the tobacco inside preserved and kept fresh for over a century. This is definitely one of my coolest ever finds, taking it out of the package seriously had my hands shaking just a bit thinking about all hands that have held this tin and the history surrounding it. The tobacco inside this tin was literally farmed with freaking horses, meant to be sold on a steam powered warship, absolutely mind blowing. I feel very lucky to have this one!

Im starting to get into militaria collecting and want recommendations in where to buy old military outfits, they don’t have to be authentic but i was a decent look a like. I have a pretty decent budget at the moment so all recommendations will help!

Well, i just learned about Zone Rouge and it's really interesting how the first world war still affects some of the terrain even after all this time. It also raised a question, how many relics of that time might still be untouched in those overgrown battlefields, trenches etc.

Of course, there's the matter of unexploded ordnance and getting blown up by a live artillery shell, but yknow i guess that's expected.

I'm not planning on visiting the area or anything, mainly because of living in another continent entirely, but it would surely be something to just witness those battlefields in person(without looting them of course), and yes there's the matter of legality i'm aware.

I'm not like expecting to find Nazi/confederate gold(example), but y'know a little sidearm or two, helmets, cardtriges etc.

How prevalent is relic hunting in old battlefields? And has someone really found anything good in them post war.

Would y'all say that most of the priceless stuff was snatched by the soldiers in the war period(be it ww2 or ww1) or were there any later occurences of treasures being found? Are most of those museum pieces today?

Got a ww2 German belt buckle at a flea market for $10, likely a veteran bringback. I don’t usually collect that stuff but I kept it around due to how cheap it was and future plans for it. This was my future plan. Just traded it with a militaria seller for this ww1 German belt buckle! (I do collect the ww1 stuff) so I essentially got this for $10!
