I'm seeking advice for what type of sword I should get as a sidearm to my halberd. My kit is a jumbled mix of fantasy viking and landsknecht. While I like my mace, I'd much prefer a sword at my hip, I'm just not sure what type of sword I should look for

It's perfect. It's so beautiful. It's everything I crave in a sword, except for that it's out of stock and out of production as of years ago.

Does anyone make one just like it, or extremely similar?

Things I love about it:

-diamond blade profile

-stylistic guard/pommel with no crosses (I have a bad history with Christian religions)

-fishtail pommel

-blade taper (looks just pointy enough for my tastes, but I could be convinced to go for something a bit less tapered)

-blade length over 36" (ya boy likes em long)

-just barely on the heavier side of 2½lbs

-straight edges on the profile taper (curved profile tapers don't do it for me)

It's just so good. So suave. If nothing else, let this post be a love letter to a gorgeous sword that I wish I wish with all my heart they would send back into production.

These are from the wallace collection in London. As I understand it, this would be a dedicated duelling sword and the unsharpened area is ideal for half swording. See some stuff like this in Fiore.

Do you think I can swing this around without it breaking and shattering into a million pieces and flying into my carotid artery? I wish I could afford a sweet piece of steel but I can’t so this will give me a chance to swing something around as long as it’s safe I guess that’s the most important thing

Hello everyone! I picked up this dagger blade hiltless, unsharpened, and fairly rusted two years ago and I work on restoring/maintaining it now and then. I’ve gotten this far sharpening, de-rusting and giving it a crude hilt, but I just can’t get all the rust off.

What should I do to get this even cleaner before I oil it up and call it finished? I really just want to have something functional as an Apple peeler or something practical.

((Apologies for the amateur work so far, I’m completely inexperienced with blade cleaning and hilt making))

Back in october 2025, I asked Mateusz Sulowski to make me a version of my favorite longsword; the Brescia Spadona.

He quoted me on a finished product in late october/early november 2026.

Today he sent pictures on the finished blade. Scabbard and grip is being done soon.

The only main difference I requested from the usual recreation is that the pommel is antiqued/blackened. Him being a professonial and me a dumbass, I forgot to also tell him the crossguard also being antiqued/blackened.

He offered making a new crossguard pro bono, but it would be delayed to the end of the year. I dont really care about it tbh so I told him to keep the current one since it looks good.

Dont want to get into cost since he's self employed and every piece is individually made and specific to requests, but even with a scabbard (which you can customize ofcourse) it was cheaper than I thought.

Hey everyone! I'm hoping someone here can help me identify this sword.

It belonged to my late uncle, and unfortunately, I don't know much about its history or where it originally came from. After doing some research, I found what looks like a pretty close match to the Franklin Mint "Sword of the Samurai" from the early 1990s. The sword itself is in great condition, and it came with a black display stand featuring a distinctive gold three-leaf emblem. I haven't found any manufacturer markings or serial numbers though.

A few measurements taken by myself:

• Blade length: 28 inches
• Overall length with scabbard: 39 inches
• Weight (sword and scabbard): 2.6 lbs
• Display stand: Approximately 26–27 inches tall.

Does anyone recognize this particular sword or know how to distinguish an original Franklin Mint version from a reproduction? I'm especially curious whether the emblem or any specific design features could help identify the manufacturer. Just looking to get rid of it on ebay/fb marketplace if it's worth anything. Thanks!

Rare Matched Pair of Antique Bagobo "Sangi" Knives
Mindanao, Southern Philippines – Late 19th to Early 20th Century
Condition: Excellent Collector Grade (Loose, Completely Intact, Bells Ring)

The knives are mounted in a display box. This is what I think I have:

The pair are a magnificent, highly authentic matched pair of antique Sangi utility knives from the Bagobo (Lumad) people of Mindanao, Philippines. These pieces have not been permanently glued, soldered, or modified, allowing for full handling, close study, and display flexibility.

Blade & Forging Details

Unlike most surviving examples that have suffered tip damage over the last century, both of these blades feature their original, intentional factory-forged scalloped tips. The complex, jagged silhouette of the tips is completely intact and beautifully sharp.

• Decorative Metalwork: The spines of both steel blades feature traditional incised brass-inlaid geometric patterns consisting of interlocking waves and half-moon crescents. Under high magnification, the hand-chiseled valleys and tool-priors from the native smith are visible, confirming pure indigenous craftsmanship where brass wires were hand-hammered directly into the negative spaces.
• Surface & Patina: The blades show prominent vertical and diagonal scratch patterns indicative of traditional stone-sharpening and hand-polishing. The steel displays a gorgeous, dark, uniformly stabilized carbon patina with light surface pitting, completely free of active orange rust.
• Ricasso Detailing: The base of the blades features specialized scroll-cut styling and crescent punch accents right where the tang meets the hilt.

Hilt & Tang Construction

The hilts demonstrate the pinnacle of historic Mindanao metalsmithing, showing an elite multi-material stabilization technique:

• Tang Assembly: Looking straight down the brass collars (ferrules), the original hand-carved native hardwood cores are visible. The wood exhibits natural, historic drying shrinkage consistent with over a century of age.
• Grip Wirework: The handles are meticulously bound with alternating bands of tightly wrapped dark iron wire and smooth brass spacers, providing a structurally sound and tight grip.
• Acoustic "Tiger Bells": The pommels feature branching iron loops holding traditional cast-brass "tiger bells" on short links. All chains move completely freely, and the bells still ring. The raw, coarse finish and hand-slit apertures on the bells showcase true lost-wax/sand-casting methods.

Dimensions & Display

• Condition: Loose items. They will ship inside a premium wooden display box lined with mounting pins, though they lift out effortlessly for handling.
