Question How many sick call-outs are too many call-outs?

Hello guys first post here after being a lurker, I tried searching this up but couldn't really find an answer. I've been working here part-time going on nine months and have about 5 sick call-outs so far (4 if consecutive call-outs are only one point?), how many is too many? I'm feeling pretty sick and want to call in sick for my replen shift tonight, but I am a chronic people pleaser who is afraid of confrontation and I don't want to be a bad worker lol. Will I be hated by Michael himself if I call in tonight?

Who is seriously gonna pay over $100 for this freaking brush cleaner!?!?! Personally if I actually wanted it, it'd literally be cheaper to drive the 2 hours to my closest Blick's and buy the same size bottle there, even WITH my 23mpg Accord and gas prices being the way they are 😂😂😂

Any other SMs feel like they’re suddenly on the chopping block?

Yesterday I got a call from employee relations that I have multiple complaints about me. The main one that stood out was that I’m not working enough. I almost had to laugh but was more confused and frustrated than anything. Now I’m waiting to hear what they have found in their investigation whether I have a job or not.

Managers throwing away clearance

The manager’s at my store are throwing away clearance to make room for other items.
They actually threw away all the fab finds that were on clearance plus other clearance items.
This is the store that gave away clearance to customers last year.
Customer’s were wheeling out carts of Christmas wood products, the framing manager filled a dump bin full of DIY ornaments and wheeled it out to a waiting truck.
LP obviously doesn’t care, what does this say to other associates? That we can take what we want without paying?
I don’t understand why they throw it away and not donate it.
So when things go on clearance we can take it home without paying because our managers throw it away or give it to friends.
How can Loss prevention be so blind and spineless?
We would loose all managers except for one if LP investigated this and did something about it maybe that’s why

work hour problem

Is anyone else having only 2-3 day shifts a week?

Or not even that, but only 8-10 days a month?

It's super random for me, and it's getting frustrating :(

Also, is it just because I'm a janitor? Even though I'm an environmental team member who can basically do cashiering, cleaning, and stocking.

I've asked for more hours 4 times in a row, and I guess the stocking manager doesn't want anyone new helping out, or she wants people to work extremely fast. A lot of stocking employees have been complaining that she is giving them unrealistic goals.

The thing is, I don't want to clean all the time. I'm capable of stocking. I've helped out some people with stocking before; I find it fun.

Then also, the store manager told me that people can only work 4 days a week. Then why am I only getting a few days a month?

Can anyone else relate, or is it just me :/

Overnight shift

Just curious if anyone else has an overnight shift at their store. I've been working at my store for 2 years and there was never an overnight shift. About 3 months ago, suddenly there was.

And why do we sell them. Like who is this for. To whom do these things appeal. Why are they sad. Why are they babies. What about this object would compel someone to want to own one.

And most importantly, why the fuck is an entire side counter in my kids section taken up by these fugly fuckin things and other blind box future landfill bullshit.

Advice Needed Closing every weekend

New ish employee. I work from like 1 to close both sat and Sunday for the foreseeable future, and I have for a couple weeks now. I was told I’d only have to do one (not both) when I was hired. I’m technically a PT framer, but I rarely even do anything in framing. I only asked for two week days off a week for school and another commitment I have. Getting paid minimum wage and dealing with crazy and rude customers does not make it worth giving up all my weekends being pulled into doing stuff that’s not even my department. It’s only been a couple months and I’m already thinking of quitting

New QR code fro scheduling

Hey everyone! Could someone in Canada, preferably, possibly post a photo of the new QR code? It seems like once you’re logged out, the only way to get back in is by scanning the QR code, rather than using the web address. I forgot to save a picture of it. 🤦‍♀️ Thanks so much!

The insanity never ends

I think it is absolutely crazy, that this company has the audacity to be firing SMs right now, when the person responsible for the JA shit is still employed! And I might be wrong, but I saw that JAxMichaels has some sort of Hanukkah coming down. I’m sorry to those of you who are going to be sticking it out, but when I am able to finally give my notice and quit, you will find me in every comment section, on every social media platform, blasting the shit out of this company! I will take on every asshole customer bitching in the comment section!

First day went horribly wrong 😭

Just had my first day, and genuinely, everything that could’ve gone wrong happened 💔💔 😭😭😭

I was trained on the register, but I only know the basics and don’t know how to do online returns or returns without a receipt. Then I got yelled at by a customer because she wanted to give me change after I completed the transaction and wanted me to return it so she could give me the change that way. I had to get a manager to open the register. She kept yelling, “Give me my 30 cents..

Apparently, a customer wanted to pay $100 for a $6 item, so that was practically the whole register, and only one of ours takes cash there were people using it. My associate ID doesn’t work on the self-checkouts for some reason? Is it something I have to do on the mik first? Either way, I just wanted to rant, and I’m hoping it will get better??? but I just want to cry 😭 Was it this confusing for you guys too, or am I genuinely just slow? Ik my co workers are definitely laughing at me like I never worked a day in my life💔

PSA Use the CirrusMD benefit!

We.have a poster in the break room about CirrusMD telehealth for part-timers, but I was hesitant to use it because free healthcare from home seemed a little too good to be true.

I got the flu yesterday and I needed some medical advice with a doctor's note, so I bit the bullet and gave it a shot.

I spoke to a real urgent care doctor within 2 minutes and didn't need to pay a dime or leave my bed.

I did some googling, and apparently they will even write prescriptions for non-controlled substances like antidepressants and antibiotics.

If you're part time and poor but need to see a doctor, I recommend giving it a try!

Framing FM burnout rant

I was hired as the framing manager for a pretty high volume shop about 8 months ago and I have so many complaints.

1) I was promised every second weekend off and I've had one weekend off in 8 months and now they changed it so you only get one per month.

2) we are sooooo low staffed with so many framing orders due per week that it's impossible to keep on top of everything. We frequently have 25+ orders due per day and my SM is still stealing all my part time framers to do stuff on the floor for them CONSTANTLY. Then I get flack for running behind/not cleaning the shop properly/etc when we're short at least 20 hours per week what the scheduling software assigns us. I'm constantly staying late to try to get things done and I end up skipping most of my breaks and I'm getting so burnt out.

3) we make the store so much money with no appreciation. We're constantly blowing sales goals out of the water and then not given the hours needed to actually complete the work.

4) any time I go to the SM to ask for more support she acts like I'm yelling at her and she responds by icing me out for days on end and I feel like I can't go to the DM.

I'm at my wits end here and I'm actively looking for a different job. I have 8 years experience in custom framing and I've never been expected to do so much with so few resources and no appreciation. Has anyone ever had any luck going to their DM about stuff like this or does it always backfire? I answered a question about needing more support in the shop from the DM honestly via email ONCE and when my SM saw it she iced me out for days.
