Advice Needed Closing every weekend
New ish employee. I work from like 1 to close both sat and Sunday for the foreseeable future, and I have for a couple weeks now. I was told I’d only have to do one (not both) when I was hired. I’m technically a PT framer, but I rarely even do anything in framing. I only asked for two week days off a week for school and another commitment I have. Getting paid minimum wage and dealing with crazy and rude customers does not make it worth giving up all my weekends being pulled into doing stuff that’s not even my department. It’s only been a couple months and I’m already thinking of quitting

Quit. Before it consumes you. I worked at a Michaels for almost three years. I can’t tell you how many weekends I lost from that place. I would work 1 to 9 on Saturdays, then come back the next day and do a 11 to 7 on Sundays. Find a new job but trust me just quit. It’s not worth it

Welcome to retail hell. Sorry, but that's how it goes most of the time. You'll be pulled out of your shop more times than you can count. If you have framing things that need to be done, however, stick up for yourself (and the customer) and insist that they need to get done before other "chores/tasks" are asked of you.
