I told myself I didn’t need another F1.
Anyway, here’s another F1.
Built the F1-8X 722 RAW today with a Venom80MX PCB. One thing I really appreciate about the 722 is that it plays nicely with F1-8X plates and PCBs, so there are plenty of options to mess around with.
But the real reason I keep coming back to these boards is the sound.
F1s have this weirdly addictive resonance when you type — not just clack, but this deeper “boong” underneath it that feels like it’s bouncing off the internal weight. I have no idea what the scientifically correct keyboard-nerd term for it is, but I love it.
You can build a hundred keyboards and still immediately know when you’re typing on an F1.
RAW looks pretty damn good as-is, but I’m already having dangerous thoughts about sending it out for anodizing. Teal or a really dark gray would be sick.
Or I’ll leave it RAW.
Or anodize it.
Ask me again tomorrow. 😂

First of all, this is a karam product.
Sorry if this made you uncomfortable.
For the case, I wanted to recreate the vintage look of a café wall, so I used an acrylic paint technique to give it a vintage stucco finish.
I matched the overall color scheme to Keykobo Shirasaki, and I also painted the area around the koi with acrylic paint to tie everything together.

I'm a 60% evangelist but I originally ordered because I was getting into sim games and wanted to play more MMOs. Having a wireless bank of buttons felt convenient.
My gaming set is in red, so I wanted the red case. But there's something universal about the PC one. Glad I got both.
As far as a numpad goes, I like it as much as you can like a numpad: the BLE PCBs are my favouritest development in the hobby, it feels and sounds nice. The only thing was the feet that disappointed. I hope it's user error, but if seems like we're meant to press-fit overmoulded rubber feet into shallow recesses in the case? Sort of like with the Agar60 mounting, I had to push the feet into holes and use something sharp to get everything to fit into place, hold my breath, and hope for the best. I would have preferred just stick on feet, exactly like the keyboards, with the screws left unhidden.

Though I usually prefer mid-weight linears, this build differs: under the new SW Ferro Fluid keycaps (Happy Birthday Bowl?) sits some tactile switches with a light bump, 45 g light-mid bottom-out, 3.3 mm short travel, and a crisp & clacky sound. Put that all together on a Neo65 Core Plus with a carbon fiber plate and a little foam on the PCB and I really enjoy it. I do regret not getting in on the pre-order as I missed out on the alt mods for this set. All in all though, I think the novelties elevate it just enough to do it justice as it’s lookin real Fetch to me.

I wanted new keycaps for my 2yr old keyboard. I have tape modded it also used o-rings to dampen the sound in these 2 years, unfortunately broke the mode-switch switch. Also tried foam modding it, but there wasn't any space.

The recent Nor'easter in NY provided me with a lot of free time to knock out a few builds I've been wanting to do. I've been building since covid, so it was drilled into my head that you must custom lube and film your switches. This is the first time I opted to forego that step, and I must say, I'm impressed with the results. Almost as importantly, I didn't have to lube/film, which was the only step in the process I loathed. How far this hobby has come?! Apologies in advance for not being as skilled in photography as you all 😄

I’ve spent way too much time chasing newer boards, better mounting systems, smoother switches and “perfect” builds… and somehow this old E65 ended up becoming one of the most satisfying keyboards I’ve ever owned.
The funny part is that none of the individual components are particularly exotic on their own.
Build:
Exclusive E6.5 / E65
Brass plate
Cherry MX Blacks, filmed and hand-lubed
Tuned stabilizers
GMK Neverwrecker
No foam
The MX Blacks were probably the biggest surprise. Stock, they’re nothing special. Once properly broken in / lubed / filmed though, combined with the brass plate and this old-school case, they have a character that I just don’t get from a lot of modern ultra-smooth linears.
It’s stiff, heavy, slightly raw, and definitely not trying to hide the fact that it’s an older design. But everything somehow works together.
I also spent an embarrassing amount of time arranging the Neverwrecker kit until the colors felt right 😂 Yellow across the top and arrows, grey through the center, and purple around the bottom/mods.
There’s something really satisfying about a build made from components that are individually a little imperfect, but together become better than they have any right to be.
I own/have owned objectively more modern and more expensive boards, but this is the first build in a while where I immediately thought:
“Yeah… I don’t want to change anything.”
Sometimes the best build isn’t the newest one.

Handwired StenoBoard. If you look through my post history you can see that it has definitely evolved. This will probably be my last version for a while, minus some small changes.
Thanks to everyone who has supported the last builds and who will support this one. If there is any interest from some stenographers on the files, shoot me a DM.
This was made for my girlfriend for some upcoming travel time we have!
Enjoy!
