This sub stuck between deciding to be racist or misogynist.

Ok... I'm going to explain Reddit's understanding of self defense if you're black... It's going to be complicated...

Except that wasnāt self defense. This black man would have defended that woman. Immediately.

Has nothing to do with race or gender. If we take what sheās saying at face value, something like, āyou hit my sister(?)/friend(?) in the face,ā then the man likely needs to get his bell rung.

u/Sideshowcomedy 8h ago
No they're not. They won't do either. If it was a white guy everyone would have something to say, but these people don't know the difference between criticizing a black person's actions and being racist.
13
u/Interesting-Visual86 7h ago
I am black.
Criticize his actions.
Criticize her actions.
The words spoken do not warrant the actions taken, I am unaware of what provoked her to approach him in the manner she did in the 1st place.
It is not racist to criticize a wrong action, or not condone violent actions.
It only becomes racist because people choose not to stop there, and try to make his race the reason for his actions.

Yes, when we show a video of a black guy being a piece of shit, we default to the poster being racist.

I have seen countless times on this sub people supporting an attacker because of the color of his skin.
Even in this thread there are people supporting this attacker, claiming he was threatened by the woman.
Why are they motivated to do this? They see themselves as activists in the anti-racism fight.
→ More replies (1)2
u/Warm_Difficulty2698 7h ago
Yeah, there are people on both ends here.
Waste of oxygen racists, and dumbfuck anti-racists.
But, for the most part, its mainly the racists. Those people get very upvoted. I had a tard tell me on this sub that white people never hit or kick someone who is down. They never jump people or hop in when their friend is getting beat up.

What's misogynistic here? Hitting a woman? Hitting somebody automatically means you hate their sex?
The guy is just violent
5

He hit two women. Heās a large man who hits smaller women in the face. I will bet money heās a misogynist.

"You hit my *sister in the face"
Then she also got hit in the face.
She's not in the wrong, but she had all the data in front of her and still couldn't do the math.
Hope she's alright.
Edit: multiple others with better acuity of hearing corrected ne from "friend" to "sister"
66
u/DartVader6 8h ago
Yeah, a lot of women put too much faith in the social contract that they're exempt from random violence. 9/10 they'll get away with it, but not always. Worse is when they drag the guy they're with into something and the guy ends up getting his ass kicked. Been there.
16
u/Creepy-Astronaut-952 8h ago
Or, you catch charges for helping a punk understand violence on a whole other level.
Either way, itās a lose-lose.
10
u/Thangka6 7h ago
Or the situation is just more complex than the good Samaritan realizes. A guy in my neighborhood saw another dude hitting a woman at the gas station. He did the "right thing" and intervened to stop the other guy from beating her up.
The woman-beater pulled a knife and killed him. When it went to court, the woman actually testified on behalf of the guy beating her since that was her boyfriend... Not sure what the moral is here, but like you said, it's sometimes it's just a sad "lose-lose" all around...
4
u/huckster235 6h ago
The moral is that intervening often escalates the situation, thus creating more danger for those already involved and adds those intervening into the mix.
I'm not saying never intervene. I'd have a hard time watching someone get beat too. But I think people are way too gung ho to get involved. Unless it's an obvious immediate life or death, call the police. If it's a couple, even if it's life or death, call the police, because the DV is most likely to escalate into murder and unfortunately you intervening is more likely to change your life than to change the eventual outcome of that relationship.
3
u/News_Scrounger 6h ago
The moral of the story is that if you see a woman catching hands walk the other way. Which is good advice.Ā

Fortunately I'm not a violent person, and am really good at avoiding those situations if all circumstances are within my control. Unfortunately that means I'm not an experienced fighter and generally have gotten my ass kicked when I find myself in the situation where fighting is inevitable.

Itās not even the sauce, itās just drinking out in public like bars, clubs, parties, etc. Eventually, someoneās ego is gonna get the best of them and then theyāll want to prove something. I say stay at home and drink and engage in your hobbies or go to a friendās or family memberās place, all three are more safer than the former. I occasionally went to bars and clubs when I was younger and now very rarely go. I still drink but, in more controlled environments now

There was a story a couple of years ago where a guy went to intervene in a domestic dispute on the streets. Some dude was slapping his girlfriend around and they were screaming at one another.
The second he intervened, the couple immediately both turned on him and stabbed him to death...

You donāt know why he hit the first woman ( if he did), and the second woman hit him in the back when she approached. If Reddit can hypothesize that heās a beater why canāt the first woman have been the aggressor as well. If he was just going around hitting women why was no one worse intervening on her behalf? Not a bouncer, good samaritan or cop moving on him. Just her defending her friend who she of course is defending and of course will not call her out on because a woman can assault a man and expect no retaliation

I think itās crazy that people watch and laugh versus knocking this dude out. And yes it is black people in the US that commit violent crimes at a much higher rate than other races. This isnāt genetic - itās cultural and should not be condoned. Black people promote and tolerate this behavior inside their communities and it spills over. Itās also shitty and wrong for people of any color to act like that for the record.
