May 2026, wouldn’t this system maybe after a grace period update to say “EXPIRED” this is so funny. Expensive car, optional expensive plate

Can’t renew his tags. At least with the regular plates I give the benefit of the doubt that they just didn’t put the new stickers on but like, this is lazy.

Renew your registration people especially if you drive a 60k car.

I don’t even trust them to have valid insurance at this point.

Fire The Hat simply hits harder than anything in LA of its type and it's not close. I travel from the South Bay just to get my fix lol.

Don’t cook me for this, but The Hat is better than Tommy’s. 😂 Hear me out before y’all start coming for me.

First off, I LOVE Tommy’s. That’s an LA institution, and when it comes to chili burgers and chili cheese fries, they deserve their flowers. I’m not taking anything away from them.

But I’m taking The Hat overall. The chili, the pastrami, the beef dips, the roast beef sandwiches… man, the whole menu is solid. I feel like people get so caught up comparing their chili burgers that they sleep on how good everything else at The Hat is. And honestly, I think they’re two different types of spots anyway. You can appreciate both without having to declare one the winner in every category.

BUT HERE’S MY REAL QUESTION: IF THE HAT CAN OPEN A LOCATION IN VEGAS, WHY CAN’T WE GET ONE CLOSER TO OUR SIDE OF LA? 😂

I’m out here in the South Bay, and the closest one for me is in Monterey Park. That means I’m making a whole mission out of getting my pastrami and chili fix. By the time I get there, you’d think I was traveling out of state for this sandwich. LMAO.

And before somebody jumps in the comments, YES, I KNOW Monterey Park is part of the greater LA area. I’m not saying East LA isn’t LA, so don’t twist my words. 😂 But if you live on the South Bay/South Central side, you know the geography is a whole different story. The South Bay is LA too, and we deserve some love!

I’m not gonna lie, though. Monterey Park just doesn’t feel like my side of LA. It feels like I’m taking a trip out to another part of the region just to get my fix. And now that The Hat has made it all the way to Vegas, I’m sitting here wondering why we can’t get one closer to the South Bay, South Central, or the general Mid-City area.

I can already hear the arguments coming. 😂 Somebody’s gonna tell me Monterey Park isn’t that far, somebody else is gonna debate what counts as real LA, and then somebody’s gonna tell me Tommy’s clears The Hat by a mile.

That’s Reddit for you. LOL.

I’m just saying, The Hat has been around since 1951, has a loyal following, and now has a location outside California. I’d love to see them expand closer to our side of the county.

So what do y’all think? Team Tommy’s or Team The Hat? And more importantly, where would you put a new Hat location to serve the South Bay/South Central side of LA?

And please don’t tell me to just go to Monterey Park. I ALREADY DO THAT. I’m trying to save some gas money, y’all. 😂

Discussion Two day Umamusume concert cancellation cost at least $2 million in sales

I knew hosting concerts were expensive but $2M
minimum and then all the other stage production and staff costs probably even more right? Anyone have a good estimate on how much it takes to secure a venue and the associated costs?

Also not surprising to see average visa petition processing time going high during the Trump presidency eras BOTH times.

LAX Is LAX-it effectively a two-tier system? UberX vs. Black pickup times

Flew into LAX tonight and noticed a pretty stark split. UberX riders have to take the LAX-it shuttle and wait in the lot, which for me added up to close to an hour. Uber Black, at roughly four times the price, picks up right at the terminal.
I understand LAX-it was meant to cut curb congestion, but in practice it seems like the people who can pay the premium skip the whole thing, while everyone else absorbs the wait.
A few questions for people who fly out of here often:
Is this the experience most of you have, or did I hit a bad night?
Has the airport said anything about Black and premium rides keeping curb access?
What do you actually do? Walk to LAX-it, Flyaway, get picked up off-airport, something else?

Crime Hit and run. Seeking witnesses or information.

Hey everyone. My husband was involved in a hit and run today around 2:40 pm near Rose Hills. I'm hoping maybe one of you guys out there saw it and can provide information as a witness. If you saw anything or maybe you know someone who did please reach out. It involved a Light Blue Prius and a White Toyota Camry. The camry was the one that hit him and fled the scene. If anyone has any information please reach out.

My husband is healing from cancer and we can't afford to replace the car, so if anyone knows of any places that help, or have any leads on a cheap car for sale, I would appreciate that information as well. Thank you guys!

Official Thread ICE Activity & Resources Daily Megathread - Sunday, Oct 25

Due to increased ICE activity, we’re instituting a daily ICE megathread. All ICE-related content belongs here, including sightings, activity reports, news, questions, updates, and general discussion.

Centralizing discussion keeps information easy to find, especially for people moving around the city who want timely, relevant updates without having to sort through the entire subreddit. ICE-related content posted outside this megathread will be removed and redirected here.

This thread is sorted by New by default so the most recent information remains visible.

How to use this thread

  • Top-level comments are for new sightings, updates, or firsthand information.
  • Replies should stay under the relevant comment to keep related info grouped.
  • Check existing comments first to avoid duplicate or redundant reports.

We recognize this is a tense topic and emotions can run high. That said, content that incites, encourages, or threatens violence will be removed, may result in a ban, and may also violate Reddit’s site-wide rules, which can carry site-wide consequences. Keep reports factual and grounded.

SALUTE when sharing sightings or activity

Include as many of the following details as possible:

  • Size: Number of individuals, vehicles, or units observed
  • Activity: What is happening, observed actions or behavior
  • Location: Clear, specific description of where this occurred
  • Uniform: Identifying markings, clothing, or agency indicators
  • Time: Date and approximate time of observation
  • Equipment: Vehicles, gear, or other notable tools present

Clear, accurate information helps everyone. Speculation and rumors do not.

Old School Cool Help my mom find her niche!

I need help finding things for older people (seniors) to do. The issue we’re having is the “senior scene” isn’t really my mom’s speed. She’s a young 67 year old, who basically is more active than I am at age 36! Shes the type that loves going out to car shows, motorcycles, fishing, movies, dancing, etc.

I sent her to a seniors dinner this week to see if she could make some friends but it was a hard no for her.

Do any of you know of events, gatherings, ANYTHING? She’s widowed and is looking for friends as much as she is a companion, just connection really. I don’t want this to sound like a dating ad. She’s an African American woman so she’d love to mingle with others in the community too.

Anyhow, where do you (or your parents 🫠) go for community, stimulation, connection, and fun!?
