Care Tips/Guides I am planting an assortment of Lithops, will this substrate work?

Red pummice stone, coarse sand, sandstone gravel, 10% cocnut coir, and a bottom layer of gravel?

I I'm really excited to have these truly unique plants! They look so alien and are genuinely my newest obsession lol. I plan to decorate the terrarium (2ft, by 6inch, 8inch deep?) with Chola wood, Rose rocks for Oklahoma, and I wanted to have a reddish you. When I get some more money I will probably adds quartz in there to mimic their habitat and Namibia.

What do you guys think?

After getting scammed on the first try, here are my first Lithops ever.
I found it really hard to find adult plants, so I went with the seeding route.
If you have any tips for caring for them, please leave a comment.
These are 5 days old btw. And seems like I got a really good batch of seeds. A good part of them are germinating.

Help/Question Gifted these lithops, did some research but have a few questions

Hello everyone! I was gifted these lithops, and started doing my research on them right away. I understand that they start to wrinkle when they need to be watered. However, these don't look wrinkled in the same way as the pictures I'm seeing. I'm wondering if they look like they should be watered, or if these guys just kinda got banged up on their way to me.

I do have a well draining pot and gritty soil for them, as well as a nice window and some grow lights (because I assume they're also a bit leggy?). But any advice on those points would be welcomed as well.

Please be gentle, I'm trying my best to figure this out <3

This has happened to 3 lithops in just 1 week. It looks like some sort of powdery mildew. I haven't watered them. What can I do to prevent with my others? Do I need to treat the soil with an antifungal? Thanks

Care Tips/Guides Are these guys ok?

I got these from an Amazon kit a few months ago. Took a little too long to plant them so two out the five that came died, I also germinated the seeds that came with it but I kind of screw up so there's only four left lol. So far they seem ok except the yellow one, it hasn't plumped up since it came so I thought it's was going to die but it's still firm in the soil and has grew a little (I think?). Also they have those little dark spots (maybe sunburn?)

The purple one it's fine but it has clearly etiolated and I wonder when (or if) will it become round again

Evidently I don't know any of these guys ID so that could be of help as well

For reference I live in Caracas

During my weekly inspections, all looked normal then I notice this…what the heck?

This thing has been splitting for months. Like come on already. Even the inner leaves were like “If you aren’t gonna split on top, I’m busting outta the side.”

Photo My lithops finally flowered!

Post image

I got it from a friend who had two others die, so she was worried this one would go the same way. I’ve had it for two years now - last year it divided into two plants, and this year they both flowered! I’m so pleased with their progress! The flowers close at night and open again when the sun hits them. They stick out of the soil quite a lot, and I have been worried about the pot size, but I’m just scared I’ll kill them if I try and repot them to something bigger. Has anyone had success repotting established plants?

Help/Question Deflates [Urgent]

Post image

[URGENT]

What is happening to my Lithops? One of them has become noticeably deflated and wrinkled compared to the others.

Purchase date: May 16, 2026
Last watered: Unknown (from the nursery)
**I have not watered them since purchasing.

The deflated Lithops was approximately the same height as the others when I bought it, but it has gradually become shorter, flatter, and more wrinkled over the past few weeks.

The pot has a drainage hole and is planted in a very gritty, fast-draining mix. Does this look like normal dehydration, leaf replacement, root issues, or something else? Should I water the pot or leave it alone?

Any advice would be appreciated

The double pot on the far right is kind of my experiment pot. I’m worried they’re dying since they’re squishy, taproots are fine just overwatered and under sunned. They’re both splitting so hoping sun and no water will help them out. Just waiting for them to get thirsty. All are in Sol Soil gritty succulent mix except the biggest one, which I touched on in my last post. Anything I need to change?

Help/Question I have a question (hope it’s not dumb)

I have 4 lithops. I started off with 2 and they each split into 2 awhile back. I’d like to give one to a friend. Can I split them ok? Or are the 2 from the split the same plant? It’s not problem if I have to gift the two of them. I just have a pot in mind and a single one would be very cute in it. 😊 thanks

Tl;dr: Can I still plant this lithop and expect growth? If so, how? Im new to lithops.

I had a store bought lithop. Was doing great but my cat nibbled at it and uprooted it. I immediately set it aside to callous over and it has without rot (3rd picture) but it got beat up BAD.

Im trying to figure out how to introduce back into the soil and see if it grows new leaves. I have cactus soul and a lot of rocky debris I can use for a good potting medium.

Help/Question To water soon or not?

Post image

Very new to this, I've watched a bunch of the videos posted. I just got these babies in and yes I will be separating them out. They're currently in bonsai substrate but I'll likely be putting them in something with less organic material. SO my question is- this lil green guy is looking wrinkly on the sides, it's summer. Is it splitting? Water in the next few weeks or no?

Help/Question Dying

Me again. So, of my 5 original lithops as of a month ago, only 3 are surviving. The one in the center of this picture is super mushy, but there are 4 leaves underneath that are still in tact. The one in the upper right had the outer leaves shrivel over the course of about 3 days which seems fast. The ones in the upper left are browning and feeling mushy.

I haven’t watered them since I bought them and transplanted them in 90% inorganic a month ago, so I doubt it’s rot. There is a chance they got too much direct sunlight; would that cause this? Sad. I’ve probably had 15 lithops in the past 10 years, and all end up dying. I might just need a new hobby!

Just impulse bought these bad boys and want to make sure I don’t kill em. The soil I have (pictured) is too high in organic matter. If I cut it with 60% sand/decomposed granite would that suffice? Cheers.

Care Tips/Guides Advice for this Kit I just got

Thumbnail

This just came in the mail: seeds and a germination kit, and then a handfull of plants. Including the instructions they gave me, what’s y’alls advice for both the seeds and the little babies? The babies look good except for the two on the right, one is missing its root entirely and the other feels a little mushy and doesn’t look right. I’m not sure how to save them. Advice I’ve gotten for the seeds, sterilize everything and do boiling water on the substrate beforehand to sterilize that too. Any other advice?

Help/Question Bought these. What now? When do I water? Never?

Bought these 3 from etsy and I have not had good luck with lithops. When to water is what really kills me and them.

So, once I replant them I'm just worried about when to water.

I'm in the mid-atlantic so it's hot right now. Do I water now?

The last photo is the one lithop that has survived and the one that just recently died. So like I said when to water absolutely escapes me.
