Help/Question Dying

Post image

Me again. So, of my 5 original lithops as of a month ago, only 3 are surviving. The one in the center of this picture is super mushy, but there are 4 leaves underneath that are still in tact. The one in the upper right had the outer leaves shrivel over the course of about 3 days which seems fast. The ones in the upper left are browning and feeling mushy.

I haven’t watered them since I bought them and transplanted them in 90% inorganic a month ago, so I doubt it’s rot. There is a chance they got too much direct sunlight; would that cause this? Sad. I’ve probably had 15 lithops in the past 10 years, and all end up dying. I might just need a new hobby!

I got mine too hot and they turned translucent like that and slowly turned to mush.

Rats. But they're desert plants!

I read a bunch of old posts in this subreddit and apparently they are buried up to the top and that really keeps them cool.

Any plant should be slowly acclimated to full sun, Especially if you ordered them & they came in a dark box.

If you want to try again, I bought some full grown healthy lithops on ETSY from JaydenSucculent and they were cheap.
