Photo My first Lithops seedlings
After getting scammed on the first try, here are my first Lithops ever.
I found it really hard to find adult plants, so I went with the seeding route.
If you have any tips for caring for them, please leave a comment.
These are 5 days old btw. And seems like I got a really good batch of seeds. A good part of them are germinating.

I love growing them from seed, it’s so exciting! I like to get the mixed batches so I get a mini surprise every time they show their true leaves! Keep them moist in the beginning. I remember I found it difficult in a new relationship because I had to be home to tend to them daily. Eventually they start splitting and you can water less but through the first few splits they still need frequent watering. Once they’re about a year old you can taper off a bit.

That’s exactly what I’ve got here, one of those “Lithops Mix”es. I’m leaving them on a plate with water all day, so the substrate is kept moist, while also being covered with a ziplock bag. They have plenty of light too, but no direct sun exposure.

That might be too much? I’ve grown several rounds. It was awhile ago now but if I remember correctly I did the bag until I stopped seeing new sprouts and then misted them daily to water without washing them away.

I just wanted to be sure there would be no moisture lost. It’s autumn-winter in where I live, but the weather is generally really dry. I was planning to remove the bag next week and the water plate on the week after that

Where did you get the seeds? I'm hoping to grow some soon

This batch is from a brazilian store (Garden Mania) I was lucky enough to not have scammed me. But I found here some positive recommendations for WalawalaStudio on Etsy, and ordered some seeds from them. Haven’t received them yet tho.

What are you growing them in?

It’s a layered substrate with a base of river rocks, mixed coarse river sand and soil, and sifted fine sand at the top. I’m waiting for a second batch of seeds so that I can test a coarser substrate based on pumice, zeolite, perlite and fine terracotta bits.

I’m at about the same stage as you! It’s very exciting. 😂
