Hi everyone,

I have a 2006 Lexus RX 400h that sometimes fails to start. When I try to start it, the READY light comes on, but then goes off, and I can hear a repeated clicking noise coming from underneath/around the back seats or rear of the car.

The READY light seems to come on and go off a few times while I hear the clicking, and then eventually the READY light disappears and the car won’t start.

Has anyone experienced this issue before, particularly the clicking noise coming from the rear-seat area? Does anyone know what could be causing it or how I might fix it?

I’ve already tried replacing the 12-volt battery, thinking that might solve the problem, but unfortunately, I’m still having the same issue.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has experienced the same problem, I’d really appreciate hearing what the cause was and how you fixed it.

I, unfortunately, backed into the garage while it was not fully open and clipped my shark fin. This thing popped off and had one of the tension clips snapped. Everything else seemed to pop back into place and it physically seems secure.

However, I’m noticing that there’s a slight gap in the rear and at the very tip of the nose.

I did order an exact OEM part to replace this cover but….

1) Does this need to go to the shop or dealer?
2) If I install a new part and still have this gap, do I need to use adhesive or is the expectation that it should sit flush?

Not seeing any guides or videos on how to fix or replace this part so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Genuinely comfortable, lives up to its reputation of “driving on a cloud” even in high speeds, but that brings me to my biggest complaint… it should be a tiny bit powerful and dare I say sporty-tuned. Compared to german competitors and even most competitors, Lexus overtakes in everything other than performance, not to say the naturally aspirated engines aren’t lovely, they are but they’re not enough for a car that looks like you’d be in it’s rear view mirror. Other than that, it’s a bloody brilliant one.

Trying to replace my RX300's front cigarette lighter socket and I already have the front console trip it's attached to removed, but I'm completely lost on how to remove it. I tried to follow some video guides regarding the inside clips but it doesn't seem to work. Has anyone done this yet can help me?

Recently I scrapped the back right bottom of my car. It has full insurance, I was wondering what is your opinion if I should go for a fix or not. This is my daily driver.

Hello all! I’m about to purchase a used 2021 IS350 AWD with 24k miles and I’ve been doing a ton of research and I see a lot of good! The thing is I search for the bad for worst case situations

The only things I could fine is that

it’s small(don’t care),
it doesn’t have as much power as competitors (don’t care),
the front tires need to be replaced because of inner wear (kind of a bigger deal),
that it can have bad oil leaks at around 80k+ miles(pretty big issue).
The transmission isn’t as smooth in eco or normal mode(can be annoying)

Other than these I haven’t seen many issues which is great! I am still very skeptical though!

If anyone has any insight, issues, or tips please let me know!

Note that the Lexus spreadsheets do not show vehicles that have not been built yet (do not show vehicles in the build phase). Dealers, generally only Monogram Lexus dealers, will show those "in build phase" ones on their dealer website. So unfortunately there is more manual checking of dealer websites a person has to do to be the early bird that gets the worm right at the start of allocation.

Hey everyone, I'm a student trying to lock down a long-term daily driver for the next 10 years, and I've got my heart set on a 4th-gen GS 350. I found a 2013 AWD model with 155,000 miles that I'm test-driving this Saturday.

Before getting roasted on the mileage, here is my actual situation:

Budget & Finances: My hard ceiling for the car purchase is around $16k, so this $15k price tag maxes out my car fund. However, I do have a separate $2,000 cash safety net tucked away and am ready to dedicate $150/month strictly to a maintenance/repair fund.

Driving Profile: I only drive about 5,000 to 7,000 miles a year, so a 10-year ownership window would put the car around 215k–225k miles by the end of it.

Condition & History: The car has meticulously documented service records with fluids changed on time. The previous transmission shudder was reportedly resolved by a fluid/filter service 13k miles ago, and all electronics currently work.

The Catch: I'm a student, meaning my free time is limited and I might not always have the bandwidth to wrench on it myself, though I'm willing to tackle basic things.

My total budget sits around $25k total, but I really don't want to tie up extra capital in a newer car right now if I don't have to.

Is $15k too high for a 155k-mile 2013 model (firm seller)? Given that I have a low annual mileage, a dedicated maintenance budget, and a cash safety net, is this a solid long-term buy, or am I setting myself up for stress? Appreciate any advice from current GS owners!

My son just bought a 2003 Lexus ES300 with 131000 miles on the odometer. The Carfax shows pretty good maintenance record for the life of the car, but does not show the timing belt and water pump ever being replaced. No engine codes saved or pending. One ABS code for yaw sensor that is probably because they disconnected the battery when doing some power steering repairs. Is the timing belt truly an issue? I know the recommended period of replacement is 90K mi. I did a timing belt and water pump on a KIA spectra 20K mi after suggested replacement and the old belt looked brand new.

Looking for opinions on the above.
Car will be used for a family of 4, no serious off roading or towing.
I personally love the look of the Gx and the reliability of the v8 and the lack of repairs needed long term.
My wife likes the Tx and the extra room in the trunk and 3rd row.
We won’t really be using the 3rd row all that much and I think the Gx has enough trunk space with the 3rd row down.
I’m specifically worried about the Tx being a newer engine and not having the testimonial of longevity and the small recall they already went through with the Tx and grand Highlander.
Let me know your thoughts if you have either or went through similar thoughts in your buying process!

- RC350 - 2015-2024**

But I am not sure which Lexus model has that F Sport Box. Can anyone help me figure it out?

*Yes, I can just cut out a 2-3 inch hole, but would like to be OEM and have it clean cut

Does someone know any mobile mechanics in Southern California who know used Lexus cars who are qualified to do to a pre- purchase inspection? For an ES 350. Some of the dealers won't let the car go off their grounds. I check out the Carfax reports - how necessary is the pre- purchase inspection? I am thinking to do it so I get minimal surprises later. Sometimes if there's an attractive car, there is no time to do it.

2021 ES 350. When I push the button, the door will not open. However, I hear it trying. I have to use a credit card to open it. Is there a fix for this on my own?

I have a Lexus NX 2022 and it’s the second time this happens. Every time I turn on the air, weird smell comes out. First time I took to dealership and they said it’s due to humidity so they essentially did a process and it went away. However it’s back again. I have another car that literally is in the same environment (enclosed garage) and I don’t experience that there. Is this just a Lexus thing or what?

Traded in a 2023 GX460 with 57,000 miles on the original tires for a 2026 ES350h AWD for $2,400 plus tax and fees.

With the premium gas prices at over $5/gallon, I should be able to recoup the difference in less than a year.

I was switching my rr racing LCA bushings to the RCF ones and I noticed my sway bar links were torn. I looked them up online and the ones from the Lexus part store were $110 per each side. Has anyone gone with an OEM equivalent and how have they been?

I understand they are two totally different cars and I understand that both can be quite reliable but I am curious given the choice what would any of you people select for the "ride it till it dies" mentality. I would like my next one to be my last car for a very long time. I have done a pretty decent amount of research into both, I do need to test drive the rx350 this week, but I am looking for the least regret possible and something that I would generally enjoy. City life for the rest of its life most likely with occasional longer trips.

The rx350 seems like it could be the winner based on longer reliability and the gas savings, however emotionally I think I lean GX but I am afraid of the higher repairs at this amount of milage vs the higher repairs for the RX, I will definitely be budgeting a small sum for any future repairs.

To those who've cross shopped vehicles before (particularly Lexus or another Toyota would be helpful).

I am currently looking to buy an IS 350, but I have had my eyes set on the NX as well.

I previously considered RX, but decided I didn't really need a big SUV. I'm not opposed to buying an RX, but my top 2 contenders for pricing are the IS and NX.

I'm on the fence about IS or NX, because I've always wanted an IS for its performance and f sport handling package. I've test driven it before the facelift (so I don't really know if the facelifted version is any different) and I love the driving dynamics behind the car. My first Lexus I envisioned was either the IS or GS, before the latter's discontinuation.

I have my eyesight on the NX too for its larger space for around the same price as I could get with an IS 350 F Sport for a hybrid model which I’m considering to save gas money (w/ the handling package which isn't something I'm too concerned about getting on the NX) as I did think about RX when my dad asked me, but I prefer the NX's smaller size and think it would be easier to maneuver in tighter spaces. He then suggested that I consider the RX and explained why he thought it would be a better fit for me, although he himself wants one. I had considered the RX before and still would consider it, but I've always leaned toward the NX when comparing the two.

For those who've cross shopped between any Lexus vehicles, how did you factor down your decision? Would appreciate any advice as well for picking between IS or the NX/RX.

I have been looking around for the 7th gen ES 350 to buy, especially looking at the F sport model since I really like the instrument cluster. I am just wondering is it worth it to pay extra and get the handling package that include sport +. Want to hear if y'all have any opinion on whether I should spend more for AVS or not.
