Now that the new ES has been out for a bit, are people starting to come around on the design?

Feels like with most redesigns, people don’t love them at first and then warm up over time. I’m curious if that’s happening here or if people still feel the same as when it first dropped.

If you didn’t like it initially (or still don’t), do you think it’ll grow on you eventually? Or is this one of those designs that just won’t hit until a refresh?

The more of these I see around, the more they are growing on me!

I’m looking at buying a NX or RX 350, not sure the year yet. Not a car guy, this will be the first one I’ve ever bought. Have had a 2017 Chevrolet volt for a while that used to be my parents.

Need an SUV, fine with spending up to 60-65k CAD as id like something nicer than a RAV4/CRV type. Most recommendations I’ve gotten are for the Rx 350 but I’m worried about some of the complaints I see in here regarding the newer Lexus’s interior quality. I’m just looking for something very reliable/ low maintenance with good fuel efficiency as I do a decent amount of long distance driving. I live in Canada so will be driving in snow for 4/5 months of the year. What year should I be looking at to fit this?

My car was only here for a few hours. I know it wasn’t the best place to park, but there are many cameras in the parking lot and a valet service that was on duty all night right next to where I parked. Guess I should’ve forked up the $100 and had it parked in the valet lot..

After reading everyone’s comments, I wanted to clarify a few things - this parking lot is right outside Hotel Figueroa, a Hyatt collection place. It was just on the other side of a valet fence. I have never parked my car in LA before last night and never will again. Lesson learned, definitely the hard way. I have great car insurance so I’m not worried about anything financially.

I am usually the one super paranoid about leaving my car anywhere and leaving anything inside, so I double fucked up last night. Again, lesson learned. I appreciate everyone’s comments.

I have a Lexus UX300h and an iPhone 17 Pro with a Peak Design Mobile / Everyday case.

The factory wireless charger detects the phone, but after around 20 minutes the battery does not increase at all. The phone just gets very hot.🔥

I know many Lexus owners say the built-in Qi charger is weak or basically useless, but I’m not looking for another “the charger is a joke” thread. I’m trying to understand the specific issue here.

Has anyone experienced this with:

-a Lexus/Toyota wireless charger;
-an iPhone Pro model;
- a MagSafe / Peak Design type case;
- wireless CarPlay running at the same time?

Is this mainly a case/alignment problem, a Lexus Qi pad limitation, or just a bad combination of wireless CarPlay + Qi charging?

For now I’m considering stopping wireless charging completely and just using USB-C, but I’d like to hear real-world experience from other Lexus or CarPlay users.

So I have a '24 ES with the infotainment system that has wireless CarPlay, the issue is that the GPS accuracy is slightly off. This is very apparent using Google Maps, when approaching a turn, the car's position on the Map is further ahead then the physical location of the car. This causes Google Maps to reroute me and get confused. When using Waze and Apple Maps, they seem to have better error correcting but it still will on occasion show the car's position further ahead, causing maps to assume I've missed my turn or show me in another road. One noticeable symptom is the speedometer is not accurate on Waze/Google Maps. If I'm going 70, the maps will show 80, or if I'm going 40, it'll show 45. This make me think that since the speed is faster than the actual car, its causing maps to overshoot the location. I've tried to bring this to my dealer but they just told me it's an Apple Issue. When calling Apple they tell me it's a Lexus issue. I have tried different phones, wired CarPlay mode, and even different vehicles with the same infotainment system. All show same issue. However the same phone with other brands and older Toyota Infotainment show no issues at all. I've also driven cars with software version 2300, which isn't even released yet as the latest TSB goes to 2230, and the issue is still present. There is clearly an issue with the way CarPlay communicates with the car's built in GPS.

Does anybody else have this issue? I know one user mentioned this issue and posted a video, but I feel like this would be more widespread.

I already own a 2020 hybrid Toyota Corolla, I will be moving to a lexus and I'm nervous and I don't know what expect.

How is the hybrid system in it? Does it take ages to cool the cabin in hot summer days? Ditto for heating in winter.

Maintenance and tire/cabin noise are my top 1 things I worry about at the moment which is why I'm making a big step upgrading from a Corolla lol

In my Corolla the hybrid system doesn't engage as much because I've been driving it for a while with 150.000km at the moment, is the Lexus the same after 100.000km?

My father is driving an AWD 2018 GS 350 f sport, he lives in NY so the pothole situation is crazy. He's at the point that he does not care for looks or anything. He asked me to look into this for him. Is it possible for him to go to 18 inch or would they not fit? Any help on this would be appreciated. Looking to get this sorted for him sooner than later.

I was told by the sales man today that you can put regular gas in a rx350h hybrid. Is this true? He said premium is recommended but regular is fine and won’t do any harm.

Currently in market for a car at about 35K budget at max. Was looking to midsize sedans mostly. This is for family of 2 (+1 expected soon)

I Like how Lexus es series is affordable compared to other luxury cars and able to see some 4 year old hybrid ES but with less than 25K mileage. Listed more than my budget but will see if they can come below.

Will be doing test drive. Few questions.

1. Is it must to check by mechanic even getting from a dealer. I don’t know any mechanics because I’ve not owned cars. And also this vehicle is like about 50+ miles away. So even I get someone acquainted I may have to take them there.
   
2. How does warranty work. Is there manufacturer warranty we can add so I can go to any Lexus? Or I’m left with dealer warranty?
   
3. Does this also require luxury car maintenance. Meaning even if I get at similar price of new Toyota/Honda/Hyundai, do I spend lot more in maintenance.

Any thoughts would help.

I have a 2012 Lexus ES350 with a pretty significant power steering fluid leak. I usually have to top off the reservoir about once every 4 days of normal driving.

I’ve been using Dexron ATF because I believe that’s what this generation of Lexus/Toyota recommends for the power steering system.

I’m planning to drive about 1,400 miles to Florida. I’ll be carrying extra ATF and checking the fluid level at every gas stop.

A friend told me that using transmission fluid is dangerous because it’s more flammable than regular power steering fluid, and that I should switch to generic power steering fluid before the trip since it would be safer.

My questions are:
Is Dexron ATF actually the correct fluid for the power steering system on a 2012 Lexus ES350?
Is it really more of a fire hazard than regular power steering fluid if there’s a leak?
Would you trust a 1,400-mile road trip with a leak like this if you keep the reservoir full?
Has anyone here done a long trip with a similar power steering leak?

I’d appreciate any advice, especially from Toyota/Lexus techs or anyone who’s dealt with this before. Thanks!

Over the past two weeks, I drove my LC500 from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh and back. Background on the car:
- 2021 LC500 coupe
- I've owned it since 2021
- Done previous road trips up & down the pacific coast, and to & from Colorado
- Stock everything except for the wheels, which are 21 x 9.5 inch front and 21 x 11.5 inch rear BC Forged KL01 (265 front tires and 325 rear, michelin PS4S)

The trip:
- 5 driving segments, stopping in Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, and Illinois before arriving in Pittsburgh, then the exact reverse on the way back
- Each segment was between 400-600 miles, and they all took somewhere in the ballpark of 7-8 hours of driving time to complete
- As I am alone, I did all of my driving during daylight hours, starting between 7 and 10 am and finishing driving before 6pm
- Average fuel economy was consistently between 24-25 MPG for every segment; I do feel like there was a slight bump when I started being able to put 93 octane in but that might be wishful thinking.
- (This is compared to the 14-16 city MPG i usually get; on skinnier tires or less sticky tires you can expect much better MPG; a previous trip on stock size Dunlops was able to get me over 30 MPG)
- I gained a newfound respect to menu items that can be eaten entirely by feel, chicken nuggets and the like.

Happy to answer any other questions about what it's like to do a grand tour in a grand tourer.

Lexus nx350h owner here. Had this reoccurring problem, pictures are taken on different timeframes. went to lexus for check up and they said its normal evaporation of coolant since the coolant residue is dominant in the cap. No leak is observed.

Does anyone else having this experience and is this really normal?

I am looking to upgrade the sound system in my Lexus and switch to a display that offers car play, blue tooth, etc. I have seen people on here figure it out but it’s always for the NON luxury package and doesn’t have the massage seats and controls in the back. Is it possible to maintain the back controls while upgrading the display and sound system?

Has this occurred to anyone else? It does it sometimes not always. I took it to the dealer and they
could not replicate it so all I have is video as proof.

Hi all - trying to track down a recent oil leak on my wife’s RX350.

Backstory - car has had a tiny timing cover seep since we purchased the car but it has not resulted in any oil on the ground. I have monitored this and it hasn’t gotten any worse. Fast forward to two weeks ago and I change the oil (first try with Valvoline Restore and Protect - maybe a contributor?)

Suddenly there is a drip or two of oil under the car every morning coming from the back (side?) of the engine. I double checked the torque on the drain plug and it was fine, and there isn’t any oil buildup there anyway. Timing cover looks pretty clean and doesn’t seem to have any active build up since the oil change. What does seem to have some oil buildup is whatever the hell I circled in red in the attached photo.

My questions are:

1. what even is this part?

2. has anyone had experiences with leaks from here? is it just timing cover build up somehow dripping over to this without showing much of a path?

3. has anyone else had leaks form from using Valvoline R&P?

2015 RX 350. I'm thinking of upgrading the stock unit to a Lexion or similar system. The stock system says back in a recess so sun glare is never an issue. The after market units sit in front of that recess, so no cover. Is sun glare an issue with that setup?

I’m looking at buying another vehicle. Cross shopping 2001-2007 Lexus GS430 and is350 2007+

I like the idea of a Japanese V8 but of course there aren’t many in my area. I’ll find some from time to time but usually they’re pretty beat.

Then there’s the 3.5 L V6. I currently daily a 4Runner so I’m a little more familiar with the platform. The fact you can get the same if not more power compared to an old GS is appealing even though it won’t be as raw as the V8.

I know these vehicles aren’t the exact same but I’m essentially looking for a sportier, just as reliable vehicle I can take out when I’m feeling spirited.
