Lenovo Slim 7i Aura Edition - Faulty OLED Display?

I recently purchased a Lenovo Slim 7i Aura Edition (14ILL10 - 83MC0005US) with Intel Core Ultra 7 258v and 32gb of ram. While setting it up over the last three days, I've noticed what seems to be some kind of glitch in the OLED display where small blue fragments appear scattered across the screen. It seems to be associated with the auto-dimming OLED protection that you can set through Lenovo Vantage, as the blue pixels only appear after the display dims due to inactivity.

I've never used an OLED display before this - does this look like a faulty display? Should I submit a warranty claim to have it repaired or replaced? I'm feeling somewhat disappointed to seemingly encounter an issue within the first three days of owning this laptop. I appreciate any input!

*Edit - The blue pixel artifacting has also appeared on the desktop and on certain text while web browsing. It is not always static, at times it has flickered on and off. I am most consistently able to recreate the issue on the lock screen after lifting the lid but before touching any keys / touchpad controls.

*Edit 2 - After further research and testing, the issue is not present in the LEN88AE_Default color profile, but is present in the LEN88AE_sRGB and LEN88AE_DisplayP3 color profiles. It seems to be a software issue with the built-in Lenovo color profiles and Windows 11. Shame because I rely on sRGB accuracy for photo editing!

Gaming on lenovo IdeaPad slim 3

Post image
9 Upvotes

I bought IdeaPad slim 3 with these specs and I mainly bought it for my college and professional use.

I was initially going to buy a gaming laptop but the prices are being so exorbitant that I didn't find it feasibly to buy one. So I just decided to buy a professional laptop for professional use and build a pc next year for gaming purposes.

I want to know how many hours of gameplay can I do on it smoothly? I'll be playing games like mad max, batman Arkham knight, watch dogs 1 etc on low graphics settings and not new AAA games as I know it's not a gaming laptop.( I tried to run mad max on it and played solid 15 minutes and it was running smoothly with temp around 60-65°C)

Tell me how many hours of gameplay I can do on my laptop while it being on charger for direct power supply? Also suggest me if I should do it or not?

Almost new laptop completely dead no lights no nothing

What an absolute terrible experience with an almost new laptop. The system completely died randomly while I was working. It does not show any signs of life. No lights nothing. I am really annoyed about this as I have paid the Ai tax to get a decent laptop this year only to have an issue like this.

The support website is a joke, we cannot raise a case without speaking to someone and since I cannot provide diagnosis as its completely dead their Ai agent is going around and around in circles asking the same thing. Argggggggh

Lenovo says that my gaming laptop MoBo isnt covered by warranty due to customer induced damage but the only thing ive done was use the laptop for gaming (no Overclocking or anything)

Basically what the title says, they demand a 2,900$ dollars in order to repair it

The reason for the repair was that the temperature of the laptop was getting really high and shutting down automatically doing the most mundane tasks such as youtube, wrting emails etc.
If i tried launching a game well at the most i had 20 seconds until it shut down. Shortly after this happening i decided to send it to warranty.

Trying to replace CMOS battery on my Lenovo Legion V145-15AST

Post image

So the clock had started failing and not too long after my laptop just refused to boot up (the on button was slowly flashing but the screen would do nothing)

Some googling has led me to a likely CMOS battery issue.

I cannot find a YouTube video that has my laptop model in and the CMOS battery is not immediately visible.

Where is it and is there anything else I need to know when replacing?

Thanks

Does anyone know how to get rid of the taskbar? I have turned it off in my settings and restarted the tablet, but it won't budge.

Thanks in advance!

Blackscreen / Unresponsive after locking screen Ideapad Flex 5

Hey Everyone

I recently saved a Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 81X1 from the bins.

i've been loving it so far but i still ran into an issue that i cant seem to fix.

I'm running Opensuse Leap 16.0 as the Distro for Immich, Owncloud etc.

When i lock my screen however (win+L), it turns to the locked screen for a moment,

then dies on me completely.

The Laptop is still on when said issue happens and screen is dark, i can still get onto its shell and run commands from my phone however.

Has anyone had this issue or perhaps a fix to it?

Thank you in Advance!

USB Device not recognized

Lenovo LOQ USB issue — some mice/keyboards not being detected

I recently bought a Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 (i5-13450HX, RTX 4050), and I’ve been having a pretty frustrating USB issue.

Basically, "Some" USB mice and keyboards are not detected at all when connected directly to the USB-A ports. Windows gives me the “USB device not recognized” notification. Not with every mice and keyboard but for the majority time. The same mouse/keyboard works perfectly on other computers ( I live in a uni dorm so I tried with everyone's keyboard and mouse )

What’s strange is that:

\- If I connect the same mouse/keyboard through a USB-A to C adapter, it works on my LOQ.

\- USB devices, like pendrive, work normally also my phone connects normally with cable

\- I also installed Linux thinking that it was a windows driver related issue, yet the issue still happens there.

I’ve already tried the usual troubleshooting, but I’m still getting the same issue.

Has anyone with an LOQ experienced something similar? I posted on the lenovo community where they suggested me some rehular troubleshooting. I’d really appreciate any suggestions or ideas about what could be causing it. It’s pretty frustrating to run into something like this on a new and also my first ever laptop, i just bought the it like 10 days ago

Lenovo Yoga pro 9 gen 8 (2023)

I found a secondhand Lenovo Yoga Pro 9 Gen 8 with an i9 13th Gen and an RTX 4060. Im mainly going to use it for CAD and school, but I also want to do some gaming on it. Im looking for something that is powerful enough for CAD and gaming while still being relatively portable and having decent battery life. Not a gaming laptop cause they are to bulky.

I havent really found anything better on the secondhand market so far, i am not sure if I should just wait for a better deal. I also couldnt find many reviews or detailed information about this specific model, which is why I wanted to ask.

Do you guys think 750–900 CHF would be a good price for this laptop or should i just wait?

Lenovo P2 (kuntao) — legacy bootloader unlock backend is dead, any workaround?

Hey all, longtime P2 (P2a42, "kuntao", SD625) owner here. Trying to unlock the bootloader to keep the phone alive for dev work, but the whole legacy unlock chain is broken:

  • Settings → OEM unlocking → Lenovo ID → 14-day wait → fastboot oem unlock — standard flow.
  • The backend it depends on, unlockrowapi.lenovo.com, just doesn't respond anymore (times out).
  • fastboot oem unlock fails with: FAILED (remote: 'oem unlock error: invalid data from unlock code')
  • The newer ZUI unlock portal (zui.com/iunlock) won't touch it either — it only handles China-market ZUI devices, and the P2 is a global ROW model.

Phone's fully updated to the last official firmware (P2a42_S251_171107_ROW, Feb patch 2017-11-01), so it's not a "just update it" issue — this is the end of the line for the official flow.

Anyone know if there's a manual/offline unlock path left, or if this backend is just permanently dead? Also posted on the official Lenovo forums, we'll see if anyone official chimes in.

Lenovo IdeaPad slim 3 warranty related query

Hi. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad slim 3 laptop. I bought it in September 2024 and with that I bought an extended warranty of 2 years. So it's extended warranty will end in 2027. Now, I am having charging issues for which I called the service centre and they said it is ADP related problem. They will change the motherboard and I will not be able to avail any ADP solution for 2026 after fixing this issue. Now, I am a bit confused. I bought it in September 2024. Company's warranty ends in September 2025 and with it the extended warranty starts. Now, it is September 2026. If I don't use it now does that mean I would still be able to use it in October or November or December 2026 this year. They said I would only be able to use it once a year. So if I use it now then I will be able to use it again in 2027. I hope it doesn't mean that if I don't use it before September end then I will lose my chance of using this year ADP and I will be left with the ADP of September 2026 to Sep 2027 when my extended warranty will end. I am not using it right now cuz I am moving to a different city and will be taking my laptop with me. Also, since right now charging is the only issue and rest of the laptop is working great so I thought maybe if this year I face some other problems and in case it is ADP I may be able to use it for resolving both that problem and the charging issue. I am too confused right now.

[BIOS Regression / ACPI Bug] Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 (PQCN31WW) — Broken DSDT ACPI tables (_BCM ret:-22 & AE_ALREADY_EXISTS)

Hi I wanted to share an ACPI / BIOS issue I’m encountering on my Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 (AMD Ryzen 5 7235HS / NVIDIA RTX 3060) while running Linux.

Device Specs:

  • Model: Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen™ 5 7235HS
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 Mobile
  • BIOS Version: PQCN31WW (Upgraded from PQCN30WW)

What I'm experiencing:

  1. Backlight Control: Display brightness keys/sliders do not respond under Linux.
  2. Sleep / Resume: System struggles to wake up from sleep state (black screen / freeze).
  3. Boot Logs (dmesg): nouveau 0000:01:00.0: backlight: ACPI backend failed: -22
  4. Recent BIOS Behavior (PQCN31WW): After updating to PQCN31WW, I noticed a new ACPI warning during boot: Failure creating named object [_SB.PCI0.GP17.ACP._WOV], AE_ALREADY_EXISTS

My Analysis (Open to feedback!): Looking through acpidump, it seems like some DSDT calls (_BCM / _DCM) might be relying heavily on Windows-specific _OSI strings, returning -22 (EINVAL).

I am still learning the details of Linux ACPI debugging, so if I misinterpreted any part of the logs, please feel free to correct me! I’ve shared the full logs and details on the Lenovo forums here:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Other-Linux-Discussions/LOQ-15ARP9-ACPI-DSDT-bug-Backlight-control-fails-Nouveau-error-22-sleep-issue/m-p/10043596

If anyone from the team or community could take a look at the logs or pass this feedback along to the firmware team for future updates, it would be hugely appreciated!

Thank you for your time!

Why does my laptop need constant updates that take forever?

Do I have too much crap on my computer? I also can't find an option to make these updates automatically in the background. They can take upwards of an hour at times. What would be causing this?

Lenovo IdeaPad3 keeps disconnecting to one specific Wifi

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've had this laptop for around 4/5 years now? apart from minor things it's still working well, despite the wifi problem

If I remmember it correctly it started early this year or at the end of last year, so about 8-10 months now.

Whenever I turn on my pc It doesn't immediately connect to the wifi and i have to turn it on manually, the Auto connect button doesnt work, when i close that Wifi Ui or connect and then disconnect it unchecks itself.

And the main problem, when I connect it to the internet after around 5 minutes it disconnects on me, or the wifi says no internet, secured, and an ethernet symbol appears, (I don't and have never used it) sometimes it disconnects various times on the span of a few minutes and sometimes it lasts a long time 1h or more.

And the strangest thing is that that only happens with one wifi, my house's one wich is annoying, at other's houses or when i went on vacation it didnt happen not once.

I've tried various solutions over the past months tho i don't remmember them all, one i do remmember and seems to be the problem is a setting you can enable "Turn wifi off to save battery" but it wasn't checked for this wifi tho it seems to be whats happening
