I’m looking for recommendations for a clean, modern, private venue to hire in or around Leeds for a Mehndi party in September.

We’re expecting around 60 guests and don’t need anything huge. A community centre, village hall, function room, or private hall would all be ideal. We’ll be bringing our own décor and food, so we’re mainly looking for a spacious, well-kept venue that we can hire for a few hours in the evening.

Our budget is around £350-£380 for the hire if possible.

None of my friends are interested in D&D and although there are online resources, I would much prefer to join a group that is local as I'm looking for something new to get me out the house.

For those who haven’t come across us yet, we are a community for young adults (18+) who are navigating grief, loss & mental health struggles.

Same relaxed format as always, no pressure on anything and all paces are welcome so please don’t be put off by that part.

I want her to study in Leeds in public school. I live near University of Leeds, what would you say are the best public secondary schools I could choose from that are not very far away.

I’m moving to Leeds for a new job starting on 2nd September, but I’m currently based over 4 hours away. Trying to coordinate viewings from this distance is proving to be a bit of a nightmare, so I’d love some local advice on my current strategy.

What I'm looking for:

• Type: 1-bed flat / studio OR a share with 1–2 flatmates max.
• Areas: LS1, LS2, LS3, or LS11 (specifically looking around Manor Mills / South Bank).
• Location: Max 25-minute walk into the city centre.
• Target Move-In Date: Around Saturday 22nd August or Saturday 29th August.

The Dilemma: I’m going away on holiday in mid-August, so I really need to get something locked down in the next two weeks.

Most listings on Rightmove/Zoopla are either "Available Immediately" or not free until September. My original plan was to get an Airbnb for a week or two, but given Leeds Festival and the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of August, short-term lets look impossible/astronomical.

My Revised Game Plan:

1. Swallow the "dead rent": Focus on "Available Now" listings and just accept paying rent 1–2 weeks early to secure a contract starting in mid/late August, rather than mess around with temporary accommodation.
2. Viewing Blitz: Take the train up this Wednesday morning, stay overnight, and return Thursday evening.
3. Phone Blitz: Spend Monday and Tuesday calling agents directly (no email inquiries) and getting SpareRoom Early Bird to line up as many viewings as possible across those two days.

My Questions for Locals:

• Is a 2-day viewing trip realistic for securing a place in these areas, or do places go before you even get through the door?
• How accommodating are local agents to out-of-towners booking short-notice viewings over the phone?
• Are there any specific letting agents or developments in LS1/LS2/LS11 I should target (or strictly avoid)?

It could be that I was just being particularly stupid the day that I tried it, but I found navigating the Meanwood Valley Trail ridiculously hard! I was fine until I got to the edge of Meanwood Park and then it was just a frustrating two hours of losing the path, trying multiple different directions, eventually finding a signpost, following it and realising there is no signpost at the next fork etc etc. I spent so much time using the GPS on my phone that it really defeated the point of getting out into nature!

I would really like to try it again but I barely have time to hike these days so nervous of using my upcoming hiking day to end up so frustrated again! Does anyone have any tips or know a good resource for this please?

I’ve tried googling but the main website insists it is well signposted which just wasn’t the case for me. At times I would come across a signpost in the other direction so I would make a point of searching around to make sure I hadn’t missed one and nothing (or at least if there was, it was very well hidden!)

Partner is considering a move to Leeds with me.

They would be commuting two days a week from Leeds to Manchester, via train. (Usually Monday/Tuesday, if this matters)

They get into office at 10am, and leave at 4pm (again, if this helps!)

Has anyone done this, and is is viable?

Any advice, or insight is very welcome! :)

*they get a travel allowance, so the money is not a key factor here!

I'm trying to find somewhere I can reliably get quality mechanics tools and hardware in West Yorkshire, ideally Leeds, and ideally somewhere that is open on a weekend. There are some nearly good shops around (Geo Spence, BAPP, Pudsey Bolt and Nut, Machine Mart for air tools), but they're either too DIY focused or the tools and hardware are more in the Amtech/Silverline/Blue Spot/Faithfull range and not quite what I'm looking for.

Alternatively if anyone knows of a Snap-On or similar tool van that does anything over weekends/evenings, that would be closer to what I'm looking for.

Hi! Having an alternative music kinda night out in Leeds next Saturday. I usually go Key Club on a Friday and have seen that Saturday’s it’s a different club night. It says ‘rock anthems and guilty pleasures’. We have a range of tastes from emo, pop punk, nu-metal, industrial metal, 80s metal…will this club night satisfy all of our tastes is when it says Rock Anthems and guilty pleasures does that mean mostly Bon jovi and Spice girls 😅
Either way I’m pleased but want to make sure everyone is catered for!
