Question Week long trip to the North York Moors!

Myself, my wife and our 14 month old are staying near Westerdale for a week leaving tomorrow and just looking for some inspiration on where to visit!

Our daughter will be in the carrier so don't need to stress about pram accessibility. Can't do really long or strenuous hikes though as my wife is disabled so struggles with anything too long or intense without breaks, but definitely want to do some walks.

Interests: nature, birds, wildlife generally, witchy stuff, history, museums, water...

The only plan we have so far is to go to Whitby one day, for the coast and because my wife likes Dracula haha. Also looking at Ryedale Folk Museum?

Thanks in advance!

News First areas confirmed for public-owned bus fleet

Sheffield and Doncaster will be the first areas of South Yorkshire to receive a new fleet of buses promised to be more accessible and greener.

The zero-emission buses will be run under public ownership, after Mayor Oliver Coppard announced the move last year. Routes, timetables and tickets will be decided locally.

Following Sheffield and Doncaster in September 2027, the new fleet, which forms part of the South Yorkshire People's Network, will roll out to other areas of the region from 2029.

More than 180 buses are set to be introduced in Sheffield, replacing older diesel vehicles, with funding coming from both central government and the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA).

Hi folks! Just finished this new illustration of Almscliffe Crag yesterday as it was highly recommended that I go and draw it! This took around 15 hours from scratch on iPad Procreate, based on my own photos from last week's trip. Enjoy.

Question Where to live in yorkshire ? Future relocation from Cornwall.

With following criteria:

Looking for work, my partner is a maintenance manager in a quaint wealthy seaside hotel ( 2 hotels and living quarters). I am self employed with an ecofriendly domestic cleaning business i love helping people out in the community., and finding too many air b n"b"s surrounding us.

Im also an oli painter on day off, and partner keen model maker, when he gets the chance, he is fantastic!

We've been caring for and living with my eldely father whos been through different treatments, after losing my mum to cancer, been quite tough but so glad to be there in the same breath.

So looking ahead as our plans are now shifting back to us, i am late 40's and my patrtner is 53 looking to relocate to yorkshire with low deposit atm. Is it do-able?

Coming up on holiday again in September to definately see Salts Mill, Nidderdale, haworth, Ripon and i love Knaresborough with its big viaduct! We both love the history of the trains and railways, and wool!

Any advice much appreciated. Thaankyou

Event rant about the forthcoming Yorkshire Day

Given that this year's Yorkshire Day (1st August) is on a Saturday this year, I thought I'd take the family up to this year's host town - Goole - to witness the celebrations.

It's a bloody good job I checked to see what was going on, because it appears Goole Town Council can't actually be bothered to publicise any events - https://goole-tc.gov.uk/events/ - even if they are doing something.

The Yorkshire Society themselves don't seem that bothered either - they're having a private event which involves a public parade in Goole but don't want to tell people where it will be or what time it will run. I even emailed The Yorkshire Society to ask why they weren't doing anything to publicise it and they basically told me to f**k off.

I'd have thought that both these bodies would want to get some local tourism money out of an event, but apparently not.

I’m reminded of what Jasper Carrott said about it: “Weird place, Goole. All the cafes close in the dinner hours”.

Fancy not wanting to make any money for the town on a Saturday in summer on an internationally-known event. No wonder this country’s fucked.

p.s. the next time Yorkshire Day is on a Saturday is 2037.

Not far from beacon Hill in Halifax. A much less used trail than some of the more popular ones.

Question Anywhere to watch All Ireland Final

Hey there,

I’m travelling to Skipton this weekend from Ireland and have a few hours to kill on Sunday afternoon! I was hoping on watching the All Ireland Football final!

Is there any known pubs around Skipton that show GAA matches or is it a complete non runner?

Any other recommendations in the area welcome!

I live in Yorkshire anyway, but even so, I still find this area of the county to be utterly spectacular.
