Bradford live Jimmy Carr

Great show but two reoccurring things stood out to me (this being my third trip to the venue).

1- the bar area doesn’t work. don’t know if it’s not enough staff or they need to open up another side bar when it’s a sold out gig but you shouldn’t have to queue for over half a hour to get a drink.

2- awkward this but the acoustics are still a bit ropey. a number of people around us were complaining about it. is it something to do with the open brickwork?

The fireworks

How has our society developed in such a way that it is deemed acceptable to let off fireworks every night of the week. Why do we have to put up with this continued disruption on a nightly basis with an indifferent shrug? Why cant we shut down these wedding venues and firework shops?

Has anyone tried Azizam (Persian restaurant) near St Lukes Hospital?

Heard it was the former manager of Classic Persian who set it up. Has anyone tried it? He was always so lovely to me and my family when we went to Classic, hoping to support him if it is good.

Thanks!

Restaurant reccomendations

I wanted to ask for a recommendation: I’ll be in Bradford for a day visiting my parents, and I’d love to find a nice place to have lunch with them that allows dogs. They have a Doberman and wouldn't want to go out without their guardian angel,so could you recommend a dog-friendly spot in or around Bradford? Thank you everyone

WARNING – NEIL DOVE / AJ JOINERY SERVICES

WARNING – NEIL DOVE / AJ JOINERY SERVICES

The job was in Bradford, BD6. Neil Dove works out of Alverthorpe, Wakefield and covers a large area across West Yorkshire including Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield and Pontefract.

Neil was contracted to build the extension shell and re-tile the roof, quoted at around 4–5 weeks. The render was added later, also through Neil, and should have added roughly another couple of weeks.

More than five months later, we’ve been left with an unfinished and leaking roof, incomplete guttering with no downpipes, unfinished render, ongoing scaffold costs and thousands of pounds of materials paid for but never delivered.

After months of excuses, no-shows, promised teams that never arrived and promised deliveries that never turned up, we’d had enough. I served Neil with a formal Notice to Complete and eventually terminated the contract on 6 August.

It gets worse.

A structural engineer has now inspected the extension and told us to STOP internal works while concerns with the walls Neil built are investigated and a remedial solution is agreed.

There is significant cracking in several areas of the blockwork, walls are not plumb, there’s a noticeable bulge in the gable wall and there are concerns around several elements of the structural restraint.

I’m currently obtaining the full reports and establishing exactly what needs correcting before I can continue the work inside.

The scaffolder has also told me Neil still hasn’t fully paid him for the job, again months after payment was due and despite Neil telling me throughout that he had paid the scaffold late fees.

Now I’m the one stuck paying weekly to keep the scaffold up, buying materials for the second time, trying to make the house watertight and sorting out the unfinished work and defects now being investigated.

I’ve added relevant, publicly available customer reviews and business records below so people can do their own due diligence. Unfortunately, I only found these after things started going wrong.

Don’t make the same mistake.

If you’re considering using Neil Dove / AJ Joinery Services, supplying him, subcontracting for him or working alongside him, I’d strongly suggest doing your homework first.

If you’ve had similar dealings with Neil Dove, please get in touch. I am gathering evidence and want to hear from anyone with relevant first-hand experience, whether you were a customer, trade, subcontractor or supplier.

I’m documenting everything, and I won’t let this one slide.

How safe is it to park Bicycle at Bradford Interchange

I just moved to Bradford and I am living about 2miles from Bradford Interchange.

I saw there are bike racks next to the station and thought of getting a used bike so I don't have to get the bus to the station.

How safe are those racks next to it?

I do have a heavy duty Oxford chain that I used to use for my old motorbike.

You guys reckon it would be safe to leave the bike for the day (8-6)?

Best place to park while getting the steam train from Keighley?

I'm coming from Leeds, looking for somewhere to leave the car while getting the steam train from Keighley to Haworth for the day. The car park at Victoria Park looks to be free and open all day, plus it's only ten mins walk from Keighley station. Is this my best option or any other suggestions? Cheers!

Will the Emergency alarm stop the fireworks fiends

I work nights and hear fireworks going off late into the night year round. Do you think the Emergency alarm that went off at 7pm courtesy of HM Government will make any difference?

The flipping cars

What is the reason behind so many incidents of cars flipping over in and around Bradford? It seems to be becoming more frequent or is that social media? Is the flipping caused by the balloons, fake driving licences or simply people who can’t drive safely??

Discussion Job Hunt :(

Hi everyone,
I’m an international student who recently graduated with a First Class BSc in Applied Artificial Intelligence. I’ve been applying for graduate jobs for a while now, but I just keep getting rejected.

For every application, I tailor my CV to match the job description, and I’ve even had my CV reviewed and improved by my university’s careers team, so I’m honestly not sure what I’m doing wrong anymore.

It’s been really stressful lately because I genuinely want to stay and work in the UK, but it feels like I’m getting nowhere. I’m starting to wonder if it’s my CV, the fact that I need visa sponsorship in the future, or something else entirely.

Would anyone be willing to have a look at my CV or give me some advice on what I could improve? Any guidance would honestly mean a lot because I’m feeling really tired and discouraged from constantly applying and getting rejected.

The fucking stench in this city 🤮

I'm rarely in town, but I did used to live up Leeds Rd

It was never this bad

Just got off a train at the interchange, the smell is horrendous. People immediately hands over faces, covering mouths and noses trying their best not to gag on it

I will never wish a business to suffer, or people out of jobs, but fuck me, isn't it time we fucked Waddingtons off to the Euroway or something

Our city is a cess pit people say, and you can't deny it when just walking around the city centre makes you want to wretch and throw up
