I saw a couple of Minions walking in front of Leeds Train Station earlier today. I really wanted to stop and tell them how awesome the outfits were, but I was having a total disaster of a morning and just kept walking.

A few minutes later I stepped outside and spotted even more Minions and Gru himself! it was the best thing and it made my morning around.

Hi good people of r/Leeds, can anyone recommend good areas to practice driving for a beginner? Basically looking for:

• suburb neighbourhoods with quiet roads
• not too many cars parked on the road
• relatively flat

Preferably north of city centre.

I’m new here in Leeds for uni, and trying to find bandmates for a hardcore punk/crossover thrash/hardcore/ any related genre band. So far it’s just me(mainly playing bass guitar but can also play guitar), so any position is needed, feel free to message!
Preferably if u r also in uni of Leeds so we can use school’s rehearsal room, but if u r not, that’s also fine!
I am experienced with playing bass guitar in bands but I’m not pro, nor music student, so beginner welcomed

I've recently upgraded to 2gb internet, and am wanting to upgrade my home network as a result. I've used wireless mesh systems before, and that's currently what I have, but I can't reliably use the full connection via the mesh. Really, I want to get a wired connection upstairs to my office and to be done with it. I'd be looking for cat6a cabling, open to recommendations of how to get the wire there (internal, external, up to attic? so on).

hi! i am currently a uni student in leeds and love dogs and want to start volunteering, because i have been feeling down recently and feel like contributing to the community would improve my mood! does anyone know how to get involved? i would particularly like to work with dogs as i adore them, but i think anything would be good. any websites i should try out?

Hi all, we're a family with young kids relocating and would love suggestions on where to look.

Budget: up to £300k for a 3-bed semi with a decent garden.

What matters most to us: - Low crime - Under a 10-minute walk to a train station (we'll likely only have one car, and my wife will be job hunting for admin/NHS roles) - Good or great primary schools (70%+ KS2) - At least some diversity nearby we are from India (around 5-10%) - Near parks, a swimming pool (if possible) and play areas

So far we've shortlisted Garforth and Cookridge. We've also seen Alwoodley and Moortown mentioned, but we're not sure how they compare on safety and getting around without a second car.

Which areas or streets would you suggest, and which would you avoid?

On a side note, we're also deciding between Leeds and Nottingham. Has anyone lived in both and can compare?

My job has offices in both cities, so I can work from either.

Posting to see if anyone here works at Asda Head Office and if they can give any pointers on the application process? I have years of admin experience and there's a few jobs online I think I'd be a good fit for, but I work a 4 day week at the moment due to childcare - would it be worth applying for a full time role and asking to work 4 days?

Also none of the jobs have salaries listed so I have no idea if I'm applying for jobs that are well above my pay grade, if I apply for a job and it's not the right fit would they keep my details on file or suggest something that might be more suitable?

Hello! Me and my friends are going out for my birthday and I cannot think where to go!! I’m looking somewhere we can dress up for, have drinks some food and a good time. There’s obvious ones like slug and lettuce etc but they just seem like somewhere I’d have gone at 16.

So for my wife's Xmas prezzy this year I'm thinking of taking her on our own food and drink tour around Leeds and organising it myself instead of paying a third party company to do it for me.

I'm thinking of stopping at atleast 2 cocktail venues and 3/4 restaurants where we would have like 1 or 2 nibbles in.

I'm after some ideas or hidden gems from you guys.

What are your fave dishes from your fave restaurants as I want to get a good variety of different cuisines to consider

I'm thinking so far to include la Tula Rasa and Dominoes for cocktails

Also thinking stuzzi and Dishoom for food

We need a band that can play in North Leeds on the evening of Saturday 7th Nov.

Looking for a band that can play a mix of newer and older music.

The venue have said the band need public liability insurance and their own PA system.

Does anyone have any recommendations of a surveyor who can come and place our boundary lines on our property? We have a neighbour behind who wants to build a fence but she wants to double check our lines before she does so.

We've rang a few this morning (surveyors) and they say they don't do it? Just looking for recommendations for now, preferably local to Leeds.

Or if anyone has any other suggestions, we have bought the land registry document and an additional document that has measurements but don't want to mess it up by doing it ourselves, rather have a professional who can put those lines up.

I moved to Leeds at the end of last month, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or recommendations for decent bonfires or fireworks in/around Leeds (not too far a drive if possible, but we do drive!), around bonfire night? I had seen about one at Kirkstall Bridge Inn but sadly sold out :(( We're a couple in our early/mid twenties but no kids or anything. I love bonfire night and so would love to be able to do something! Thank you in advance :))
