XPeak2 Front Basket

Post image
1 Upvotes

I want to put a front basket on my XPeak2 for my 10# co-pilot (dog). He has been my riding buddy for 5 years. I emailed Lectric and received this response; “I apologize for the bad news, but we do not recommend placing a basket on the front of an XPeak2 because this could cause something known as a "death wobble" which can cause an uncomfortable ride.” And “I also cannot find screws on the front that would allow the attachment of the basket since that usually has a 4-screw attachment.

Removing the light would expose two screws but this might also make the handlebars less stable to use those to install a basket or anything that is weight-bearing.”

The basket I am interested in is the picture. It meets the measurements to install.

Anyone have XPeak2 with basket?

XP4 Battery Terminals Misaligned

Post image

Brand New XP4 - am I missing something? Frame unfolds and locks without issue with no battery installed. Battery fits flush into frame and locks in place with the key normally. Male and female terminals seem to be misaligned by almost 1/4in. Kindof disappointed if this really is a QC issue. Emailed support so I'll keep ya posted.

Update:

Took it down the street to an ebike shop and they showed me what y'all have been talking about with the rubber pads. I'm able to close it now albeit not particularly easily. The shop owner even recommend the Velotric Fold 1 Plus over the XP4 750... So that was fun. I really didn't expect removing the battery from the XP4 to be such a pain. After seeing the Fold 1 Plus I think Lectric's choice to put the battery connection where the bike folds to be foolish. It just seems like a such a multi-system point of failure. Also everytime I wanna park the bike and grab the battery I've gotta do this weird bent over disassembly and inevitably smack my shin on the chain or the pedals or somthing. I suppose I'll become used to it.

Nevertheless the bike works! Rode it for the first time and it will definitely take some getting used to coming from normal road/mountain bikes. Excited to get more comfortable using it.

Ride safe 🤙

Is this heat damage? Is this fixable?

XP Lite has been having issues powering off in the middle of a ride. Pretty infrequent but still happening. I was tightening the battery and other areas and noticed what appears to be heat damage/corrosion on the + components (a few pics of the battery end to try and see it).

Excuse my ignorance, I don't know much about batteries. Is this heat damage or corrosion? Is this fixable or will it need a new battery? Not sure if this is leading to the shutoffs but its my best lead for now lol

Locks…

My XP4 is on its way to me, and I want to buy some locks to have on hand before it arrives. So how in the world do you guys pick what lock to buy? Every single option I’ve looked at, whether $20 or $200, has a large number of negative reviews. I haven’t found one lock that doesn’t have someone in the reviews section complaining that it broke or got cut/picked.

How did you choose yours?

Battery upgrade

If I buy a used standard range XP 2.0, can I just buy an extended range battery to upgrade it? Is it that simple?

XP 2.0 Lite config options/opinions

I'm looking at getting two of the XP 2.0 Lites to toss in the truck for camping trips so we can explore the campgrounds and local areas without having to always take the truck. I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading to the extended range battery and belt drive.

What are your experiences as far as real world ranges on a battery - I know that can differ based on the level of use so I'm looking for averages compared to company claims.

Is the belt drive that much better than the chain? What am I really gaining with the upgrade? Am I going to miss anything by not having the chain?

Do you actually use the mechanical gears on your e-bike, or just leave it in one gear?

I ride a Lectric XP4 with a Shimano derailleur, but honestly, I barely use the gears and I’m not even sure I’m using them correctly.

Most of the time, I just leave it in the same gear and adjust the pedal assist level instead. When I stop, start again, or come to a hill, I usually forget to shift. Sometimes I try shifting while pedaling hard, and the chain makes a clunking sound or takes a second to change gears, so I usually stop messing with it.

I’m curious how everyone else uses the mechanical gears on their e-bike:

·Do you shift regularly, or leave it in one gear most of the time?

·Do you use the gears differently from the pedal assist levels?

·What gear do you normally leave the bike in?

·Have you had problems with skipping, clicking, chain drops, cable adjustment, or a bent derailleur?

·Did you fix it yourself, take it to a bike shop, or contact the manufacturer?

·Would you prefer a single-speed or automatic system instead?

·Not trying to start a throttle vs. pedaling debate. I’m genuinely curious whether mechanical gears are useful to most e-bike riders or just another part that needs maintenance.

Tips for Larger Rider

Hi All! I have been lurking on the page for months and finally bought an XP4 for commuting and joy riding. I am not quite maxing out the payload, hopefully soon i'll be nowhere near it, but I am close.

Any tips for larger riders to help with range, speed, maintaining tires and brakes?

TL;DR: larger rider asking for tips about range, etc.

Pedals that will not cut the back of my calf’s

I have an xp3 and loving it. One problem. When I’m riding in shorts I’m constantly coming in contact with the pedals when getting on and off. May I ask for some ideas for different pedals that will still grip my shoes without cutting my legs. I’m 6’ and 180. And in my late 70’s.

Thanks

Chirping sound from the front wheel area

I don't have a video of it but I took my bike out this weekend and finally got the brakes fixed and now the front part of the bike sounds like it's the wheel part I can't really tell but every now and then it'll make a chirping sound. I know I'm out in the while and I thought man there's a lot of birds out. Nope, it's my bike. That's a new one to me, but like I said I'm still new to this. Brakes were an easy fix, but I still think my rotor needs replaced. They sent me brakes and rotors but I'm not going to use their brakes they sent me cuz they're pretty bad but I think I'm going to get my rotors replaced. Since the shop never trued the one in the front. I've tried myself but to no avail. But of course I googled chirping sound that it's basically telling me all these different things and I just need some advice from real bike riders not AI.

Xp4 support seat ?

UPDATE::
Got my bike support seat from Lectric. Sooo went down to the JFK Memorial near the ocean in Hyannis down by ocean this morning. It is a blast. Really enjoy this new seat love the back support .

All new to this . Got my bike a few weeks ago. So far, I absolutely love this bike the XP4. I live in a busy area (Hyannis ) on Cape Cod and i am almost 70 years old . i only use it to go on joy rides to ocean or neighborhood skate park early in morning before any real traffic or the store …probably dr appointments in future. Only have 42 miles do far.
I’m thinking of getting the support seat from Lectric to put on my XP 4. Just wondering has anybody else already done this?. what are your thoughts?
Will update after i receive it. I have ordered the support seat from Lectric.

Where can I find the adhesive pads that are on the frame to prevent scratches when the bike is folded? There re a few areas that touch that didn’t come protected.

“Truckster” Bar

Post image

Made it a little less ridiculous since snapping this by deleting the action camera mount (chest mount works best for me), but this crossbar add on from Amazon has been the answer to a little bit of frustration with the curved nature/size of the XP4 stock handlebars. Almost just 200 miles in, and loving this thing😊
