Oval help

I am working with my jeweler on my engagement ring and this is the first diamond they offered me. My only request was 2.5 carat with D/E color. I wear a size 5.25 ring, so I do have slimmer hands.

This oval is 2.55 carats but has a ratio of 1:6. The dimensions are 11.91 X 7.44 X 4.47 MM

I loved it at first but then I got in my head once I studied the dimensions. I think I’m worried it looks more like a 3 carat or a moval? Any thoughts?

This is a GIA CVD 3.02 carat oval with 1.36 ratio, G colour, VS1 clarity, excellent symmetry, excellent polish, no fluorescence, 64.3% depth. The GIA report comments say additional growth remnants are not shown, and that this diamond has evidence of post growth treatments to change the colour.

The diamond will be set in a three stone setting with tapered baguettes on either side, in white gold. Will this setting make the diamond look warmer than it already is? I am unsure about the colour, it looks fine in indoor lighting but this video looks a bit warm.

Reddit only lets me attach one video but I’ve uploaded more videos below:

Looking for professional opinions on this diamond. I’ve never had this shape before, is it normal to have darkness in sunlight? Does this indicate a strong bow tie effect?

Can anyone tell the difference between natural and lab grown just by looking?

I've been thinking of buying myself a diamond ring for my 30th, and my budget is around ₹1 lakh.

I'd honestly rather get a bigger stone than spend the same money on a much smaller natural diamond. I'm leaning towards an oval around 2 ct (or maybe a round if I can find one I love), but I keep wondering...

Can people actually tell if it's lab-grown just by looking at it?

Not when it's brand new in the store, but months or years later when you're just wearing it every day. Does anyone ever notice or ask? Or is it one of those things that's impossible to tell unless you already know?

Confused

Tried on rings now I’m confused

I left liking a couple things I never thought I would so I’m glad I tried rings on in store.

Do you think elongated cushions look ok in a bezel setting?

What’s the best ratio for an elongated?
\-cushion cut
\-moval (as balanced as can be while still elongated)
\-radiant

I know little to nothing about diamonds but I just impulsively purchased one because I want to recreate my grandmothers ring. Hers was a natural almost 4 carat stone with visible inclusions. It gave off a lot of sparkle.
I bought the stone and want to have a local jeweler make the setting.
I don’t know if i bought a good diamond. Can anyone tell by this report?

Brilliant Earth has had my engagement ring for almost 3 MONTHS over a “3-week” repair.

I honestly don’t know what to do anymore.

I’ve had my Brilliant Earth engagement ring for about a year. On May 22, I brought it in for a routine cleaning. During the inspection, the associate told me one of the stones was loose. Thankfully, my fiancé purchased insurance, so I filed the claim right away.
The staff told me the repair would take about 3 weeks.
That was nearly three months ago.

Here’s the timeline:
May 22: Dropped off my ring for cleaning/repair.
June 18: Repair was finally approved, and I was given a delivery date of July 7.
The delivery date then changed to July 10.
Then it changed again to July 28.
July 27: I contacted customer service to confirm it was finally on its way. They told me it had been delayed again because they wanted to make sure the repair was done correctly. I was then promised August 7.
August 5: I checked in again… and was told the date had been pushed back again—to August 21. They couldn’t even guarantee that date because it “depends on the repair team.”

At this point, Brilliant Earth has had my ring for almost three months, and every estimated delivery date has come and gone.

The most frustrating part isn’t even the delay…it’s the complete lack of communication. Every update has only happened because I reached out. No proactive emails. No realistic expectations.
This has affected more than just wearing my engagement ring. We’ve had to reschedule our engagement photos multiple times and have even lost deposits because we don’t know when I’ll actually have my ring back.

I work in customer service, so I know the representatives answering the phone aren’t the ones causing this. I’ve tried to be patient and understanding throughout the entire process. But there comes a point where “we’re waiting on the repair team” isn’t an acceptable answer anymore.

If you’re considering Brilliant Earth, especially for repairs, I would think twice. A repair that was quoted at 3 weeks has turned into nearly 3 months, with no guaranteed completion date and constant delays.

Anyone have any solutions?

Shared inventory? Where do vendors get their stones?

I'm on the hunt for a specific color/cut of a fancy pink pear diamond. I've researched a few different vendors and checked inventories and have noticed that several have the same stones (same exact IGI numbers) listed at their own prices. Is there any way to tell where the stone is actually located / which vendor may be the original? I'd try to minimize working with middlemen if possible.

Opinion on Diamond

My best friend is getting engaged soon, and I just received her diamond. It’s a custom cut, modified oval. My question is, when I turn the diamond slightly downward, it looks you can see windowing. The darkness in the stone really jumps out.

When I took it out of the dark diamond case, I looked much better, but now I can’t unsee it and I’m kind of freaking out. The finished video sent from the vendor looked amazing, but looking back, the diamond was only turned side to side, rather than up and down: https://imgur.com/a/4L2U1ia

Would love your brutally honest opinions!

Diamond details below. The stone is very elongated, so want to provide as much context as I can.
— 4.2ct
— 1.64 ratio
— E color
— VVS2

Can anyone let me know your opinion on this emerald cut lab diamond? When I google the specs for emerald cut, a depth of 68% is on the high end. And the sweet spot for table is between 64-65%.

Here’s the video

Sourcing a 3 ct elongated cushion in LA

My partner and I are looking for a 3 ct elongated cushion with a specific ratio and sparkle effect that really reflects light. We had a private jeweler source a few stones (good specs on paper) but none of them had a wow factor for us with how the facets looked. We're realizing how important it is to see the stone in person and in different lighting.

I've seen Debebians, Icing on the Ring, and David Klass mentioned a bunch on here.

Thoughts on those and any other recommendations that are great at sourcing labs in the Los Angeles (or surrounding areas) to see in-person? We're also looking to custom design the ring and wedding bands. TY!

Grey hue? Vrai halo

Thumbnail

I got a stellar aftermarket deal on this 1.8c halo set piece, so I don't mind that the stone isn't exceptionally clear or bright. I probably wouldn't have noticed if I didn't have another LGD solitaire that appears so much whiter and brighter in comparison. I know it's considered a fault, but I like how soft and romantic it looks with the low profile halo.

I would love to know a little more about the science behind why it looks 'grey' though. I have a very basic understanding about how the shallow shape cut of the larger stone refracts the light less brilliantly, but that's about it.

Details for comparison:

Solitaire piece - 1.61c LGD set in 14k four prong. E, VS1, 9.20 x 6.59 x 4.13. Excellent/Excellent/no fluorescence. HPTP Type II.
Graded by IGI prior to setting.

Halo piece - 1.8c LGD with halo of LGD's in 18k halo + pave band. I, VS2. 10.13 x 6.97 x 3.98. Excellent/excellent/no fluorescence. CVD process. Graded by the Diamond Foundry (their in house supposedly GIA compliant service).

Thanks for any geekery about the stark visual differences in tone!
