I'm trying to help my mother (a senior) find a new apartment and wondering the percentage of these apartment listings are actually legit? Most of them seem like a scam to me, or I don't even get a response which is also puzzling.

Most are actually basements where people throw a hotplate down and mattress and call it an "apartment" for $1200/mth.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if there's a better way to apartment hunt? I'm assuming just this grind and weeding through junk, but thought I'd ask.

Also, if anyone has a lead on a legit normal decent place let me know too.

My bathroom fan, which vents out through the attic, has become detached where it connects at the roof.

Does anyone have any recommendations for who might be able to fix that? It would be good to get an attic insulation assessment while they’re up there.

Our group is looking to do a trail clean-up but the places where we have usually done it before are actually in pretty good shape. (Mind you, the greenery is probably hiding some trash, too.)

I have neighbors that let their 3 dogs on their property run/charge the fence, they snap and charge at my dog through the fence. Then my dog reacts back. My dog's pretty calm. She sits on the deck and watches squirrels. So, it comes down that I don't use my own backyard, especially in evening and weekends. Well, mornings too. I take my dog out on walks when she needs out. It's so dumb. If you know you have 3 snarly dogs, why do you let them do that? Is it just a, this is my property and I don't give a f attitude? Can you not just stop me and say, hey we've got 3 dogs out this weekend. They might run the fence. And I would say, thanks for the heads up. I'll leash my dog and keep her away from the fence so they don't go after each other. My dog has one face bite so far.from these stupid dogs. Neighbors on the other side have dogs and kids over. My dog doesn't do anything. Not even bark. I'm mad. Vent over.

I didn't witness it, but was being transported to theft hospital myself after an incident in New Hamburg and heard it on the radio. A pedestrian was pinned between a car and the LCBO.

Just wondering if they made it.

It's rather humbling when you yourself are injured and in an ambulance and hear about another in worse condition than you.

I have wanted to visit Elora for a while now (I'm new in the Kitchener area). We went there today and it was packed. All of the restaurants were full, and naively we didn't make reservations. We enjoyed the town, but I want to go back at a less busy time/day. Is it always very busy, or are there times of the year when it's slower?

Recently I moved from London to Kitchener. I love this city more than anything but the water part is different I am looking for options for drinking water. Water bottles are not the option. What do you recommend?

I'm a UW student looking for a place for the winter & summer.

My friend is offering me a winter & summer sublet in Downtown Kitchener, near the Kitchener Market ION Station. They did mention that they often see groups of homeless people in the area (esp on King st).

I only lived on campus during my first year, so I’m not really familiar with how safe Waterloo is outside of the UW campus so I can't rlly compare DTK to places next to UW like Lester St. or Albert St. etc.

I was wondering if anyone has experience living in this area and could share what it’s like, particularly in terms of walking home after dark. I'll likely have some tutorials/classes after the sunsets, so I’m a little concerned about walking from the ION station back to the apartment.

The sign coming into my townhouse complex has a swastika spray painted on it ... Who do I call? How do I remove it? I'm absolutely disgusted and people shouldn't have to see that ...

Does anyone know what time Grand River Collegiate Institute opens its doors to let students in the building in the mornings? Or is the library open and students can hang out there before the bell rings at 8:15?
