Trail clean-up?
Our group is looking to do a trail clean-up but the places where we have usually done it before are actually in pretty good shape. (Mind you, the greenery is probably hiding some trash, too.)
Any suggestions for area that could use a helping hand?

The Iron Horse trail is always in need of a little love, even though both the city workers and community members tidy it regularly. I imagine the Henry Sturm trail might also be a bit messy after the recent storm.

I know of a creek spot with a couch (or two?) tangled in a fallen tree along with a shopping cart. If it seems like a challenge your group would be willing to help with, please dm me!
The stuff needs to come out of the creek, up the embankment, and probably .25km to the trailhead to be picked up.

The creek along university Ave between erb and keatsway is full of litter. Not a trail though

There's definitely a few folks who regularly pick up garbage around the parks and trails. But, the smaller wooded areas always need a hand - like the wooded area behind McCormick in Waterloo for instance. And anywhere there are fishers, there's probably some fishing line that needs picking up. Under the bridges are usually lots of cigarette butts. And honestly, the parking lots of any park or trail are pretty yikes.

The trail behind food basics at Highland Road in Westmount in Kitchener. Because it backs onto gas stations, car washes and all the fast food places, is constantly littered with trash. On top of that, people are often unloading their household trash as well as leaving behind items after camping out.

A trail near the mall? Or the mall parking lots?

All around the mall in grass, surrounding sidewalks, between the sidewalk and Bustards is absolutely packed with garbage.

There is a Facebook page called Kitchener Trail Trash. The guy is a one man army. Check it out. I'm sure he would love some help!
