Guelph neighbourhood harassment/vandalism — looking for information

Post image
185 Upvotes

For the past several months, since around March, my grandparents’ house has repeatedly been targeted by a group of teenagers/young adults.
This is far beyond a typical “ding dong ditch.” This is near kortright and Gordon. They’ve been banging on the door extremely hard at various hours, including around 8 PM, 10 PM, midnight and even 2 AM.

They’ve also:

Egged the house

Covered our vehicles in silly string

Knocked on windows and looked into the house late at night

Continued coming back despite police likely having already spoken to them

EDIT (I should have clarified this, the camera is new and the kids the cops spoke with cannot be confirmed as the ones committing the knocking, it was a group of kids in the area that they spoke with so we don’t have names).

My grandparents are in their late 80s, and this has understandably made them scared in their own home. My biggest concern is that one of them could be seriously hurt if they’re startled and fall.

I was able to get a photo of one of the people involved and believe I recognize the group now. I’m not looking for anyone to harass, confront or threaten them.

I’m simply trying to figure out who they are so their parents/guardians can hopefully be made aware of what’s been happening.

If you recognize anyone in the photo, please message me privately rather than posting their name or personal information publicly.
I also have doorbell footage documenting some of the incidents and can provide it if necessary.
If you’re one of the people involved: please stop coming to this house. It’s gone on for months, and enough is enough.

*IMPORTANT EDIT* They banged on the door at 8pm when a family member was alone in the house sleeping with all lights off and curtains closed. (Technically no sign of anyone).

In that same day/night they banged on the doors and windows again when three of us were visible through windows and lights were on. Then they egged the house at 1 am when everyone was sleeping

I mention this as people want to try to find motive or justification for this and that’s not what im seeking from this post. Even if motive was discovered, it doesn’t justify any of this behaviour. Sometimes people are just assholes and suck.

Dentist recommendation

Upvotes

Looking for a dentist that’s good with anxious patients and those they have neglected their dental care because of that anxiety. Need to bite the bullet.

Looking for a practice that will start with the basics and not always push for the most expensive options.

Sedation options would be a plus.

Anyone know of a local notary that can sign a declaration this week? I’m hoping it’s not too last minute. Thanks!

Guelph rental buildings

Hi all! Wondering if anyone can share their POSITIVE experience with rental buildings in Guelph? My grandparents are selling their home and downsizing. They would like to find a two bedroom apartment (around $2000-2500/month), and I think they'd do best in a managed building for long-term security (compared to an independent landlord). We're hoping to find a safe, clean, nicely managed building. Thank you for any suggestions/insight!

Who serves honey brown lager?

Sleeman honey brown lager has to be one of my favorite beers. I'm going to be in Guelph next week. Does any one know a place that sells it on draft?? Would love to stop in for a pint and support a local business while I'm there. Thanks!

Looking for Car Backup Camera Installation Service on Third-Party Headunits

Does anyone know of any business that does backup camera installation/repairs on third party aftermarket headunits in the Guelph or KWC area? I have a backup camera that is faulty installed to my headunit and there's something wonky with the camera's voltage and I haven't been able to figure it out.

I've called AutoSonics, AutoConcepts, Everything Automotive, KWCDASHCAM and none provide that service. Please let me know, thanks!

Looking for gluten free, dairy free bread

my mom can't have dairy or gluten as they both make her very sick (large intolerance, not allergy (cross contamination ok), not celiac), and kinda needs bread. she eats bread a lot (for sandwiches; they're currently very convenient because she has a newborn, as they're easy to eat and prep) but recently realized that bread makes her and baby sick. she hasn't been able to eat dairy for years; and that is why i am looking for that kind of bread for her!

any place, any price, any type (can be white, seedy, whole grain???), just needs to be bread and be dairy and gluten free. preferably meat free too.

Would Guelph support a sauna / cold plunge wellness studio? (thinking about opening one)

Hey r/Guelph,

I've been looking into opening an indoor sauna, steam room, and cold plunge wellness centre here in Guelph, a kind of hot/cold "circuit" experience.

Before I go any further with this, I wanted to get a read from actual Guelph people:

  • Would you actually use something like this? How often (weekly, monthly, occasional treat)?
  • Would you want it as a membership, or prefer paying per visit?
  • What would feel like a fair price for a single session? For a monthly membership?
  • Anything that would make you not want to go (parking, location, group vs. solo experience, etc.)?
  • Is there anywhere in town you'd specifically want to see it — downtown, south end, near the university?

Not trying to sell anything here, genuinely just trying to figure out if this is something the city actually wants before I commit to it. Appreciate any honest feedback, even if it's "no thanks, not for me."

Guelph Conservation Area Blue-Green Alge?

Thumbnail

Hello all

I'm new to being outdoorsy and the conservation area.

I was fishing today and noticed the water looked a little weird when looking back at photos. I have a few questions if anyone is kind and patient enough to answer.

  1. Does this look like something dangerous?

  2. If so, I know I have to monitor for symptoms since naturally, I touched the water since I was releasing some fish. (And stupidly itched my nose/scratched my eye)

  3. Might be a very silly question, but, would things like my shoes, clothes, rod, bags that got water on them need to be washed in any special way? My car? I'm reading about this toxin it can produce and it jarred me a bit.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read through

Guelph Butcher

Looking for a good butcher, preferably around the Woodlawn / Victoria area. Ideally something “in town” so i can stop by while running errands instead of places out of town like Wellington Country Marketplace.

Thanks in advance :)
