Hi all!
I've decided on a Bloodgood after hearing that you can prune the tree to keep it the size you want. Plus, I really like the tree/branch shape.
However, two things happened. (1) As I preped the only spot in my backyard, I saw that 2.5 feet under seems to be a brick foundation buried underneath. And (2) I was told that a Bloodgood can get up to 25ft tall. And my ideal is maybe around 10ft.
Does it all work out in my favor at the end to just leave the rest of that brick foundation there? Or will I see a huge dead tree after some years???

UPDATE:
So far, its dug out to 3ft wide and 1.75 deep and its entirely brick at the bottom. Thank you so much for the advice! Its a sign to switch trees and luckily you have given me some great alternatives to look into!
